This is what the dem super-majority wastes time on:
- A new Illinois bill would make it a felony for government officials
to knowingly fly an American flag upside down on government property.
Illinois State Rep. Harry Benton (D-Plainfield) formally introduced HB 5860 on June 11.
The bill would amend Illinois’ Flag Display Act and prohibit officials from knowingly displaying or causing to display “the United States national flag with the union down on government property.”
Under the bill, a violation would lead to a Class 4 felony, which is punishable by Illinois law for anywhere from 1-3 years in prison.
Meanwhile, Porky add another few dozen billion to Illinois' out-of-control debt.
Singling out opposition party members when they publicly disagree with you. How very democrat-like. We guess freedom of opinion only applies when the left approves of the message being espoused.

I suspected this was about Homer Glenn/Homer Township before reading story and reading confirmed it. And I think you’re wrong on this one SCC, it pains me to say that.
This isn’t about somebody flying the flag at their house. This isn’t about somebody bringing a flag to the building in a protest and flying it upside down. This is about some douchebag trustee at Homer Township (I think it was not the town of Homer Glenn) who decided to take the official government flag of the township and fly it upside down. He’s got no right to make a political statement with the flag that belongs to ALL the people in that township.
Just like we don’t like to see pride flags, BLM flags etc, flying at government buildings. The difference here is this was the one official US flag owned and being flown by a unit of government, that a government official decided to hijack the flag belonging to all the people in that town or township for his political views.

Flag messaging is a millenia long practise of Naval communications, Flag signalling is still used ceremonially in the USN, while the upside down flag signaling an emergency is not in use anymore it still is listed in the USN's signal flag directory. To deprive a person of their liberty, in this situation, with a criminal charge violates the entire principle of our living in a free country. A deliberate upsidedown American flag on a unit of government property should result in a hefty fine, say $500 dollars.
Deliberate improper display of the American flag, in this situation, is not a criminal level offense.
A high school student, in charge of raising the American flag at school, that decides, for whatever reason, to deliberately fly it improperly, does not deserve to become a felon at 14 years old.

A nice add on to this bill would be government bodies can only fly flags for government entities in their chain of command. I,e, municipal, county, state, and federal. Nothing non government, I won’t hold my breath waiting for that.

This is why I left Illinois shortly after retirement. Moved to Indiana. Occasionally, have to drive back into Illinois for medical reasons and noticed that, entering Illinois there are billboards that say your abortion rights are free here and we can assist with costs. Conversely, traveling back to Indiana, the billboards say, unexpected pregnancy? We can assist you with adoption or keeping your child. A mere 40-mile difference, but a million miles away philosophy wise.

Interesting point. The fact that it’s for government officials on government property makes me wonder if it’s a first amendment issue. He can do whatever he wants with a flag he provides but I don’t know if the part about it being government property infringes on those rights. He’s using government property, and implying the government endorses his point of view.
