- Thieves targeted the Cook County State's Attorney's Office on Tuesday, authorities said.
A spokesperson confirmed some items were taken from the office inside the Leighton Criminal Court Building in Chicago.
Several computers were stolen from the administrative offices, according to the spokesperson.
The Cook County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation.
Who would want a bunch of computers? Unless you have the main log-in password, they're just about useless. And if you do, with a little effort, the IP address can be traced when it's logged into the internet.
Isn't that building covered with cameras? Chambers, hallways, elevator banks, etc. Someone took a dolly with multiple computers on it out to the camera covered parking lot?

Computers covers a few different kinds.
Desktop/tower, laptop, tablet, smart phone being a computer, various other hand held devices.
Servers, rack mounted, these unlikely to be located in offices.
Any computer can be of value, useful value, just by pulling the boot drive and replacing it with the then blank drive to be partitioned, opsys installed and booted from there. Even motherboard bios can be reflashed.
The idea that these were snatched as a plausible deniability, akin to the clinton wioed with a cloth charade is, well, plausible.

On the news tonight they had a very clear picture of the guy calmly walking through the lobby with a cart. No attempt to obscure his identity, unless he had some really good makeup and a disguise. So I’m wondering who the hell he is.

The password and IP address are mute points. The thieves will likely remove the hard drives and install them on a different laptop. Or they’ll get an external USB drive enclosure and plug it into any USB port on any computer. These can usually be had for $10–30 depending on the drive type.
Going back to IP addresses, just connecting to the internet is not enough to reveal your physical location unless they have a “Find My” feature like apple devices. The thieves may use public WiFi so IPs are useless here. Either way WiFi and Bluetooth can be disabled from bios. Password override can be done but I wont reveal the how, you can google that.
Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 that the thieves are CPS graduates and dumb as shit as BJ and our exempts.

That building is secured 24/7 by the sheriff, and is locked down after hours. Any missing items is an inside job. Most likely computers were removed for “ repair” by a work order . And then because those computers have sensitive info on them , disappears along with those work orders. Of course nobody knows what happened to them, work order can’t be found and those computers with who knows what’s on them, are in some political hacks garage. Case closed.

Not true, no sheriffs are there after 10pm because of sheriff Darts cut backs. So from 10pm to 6am the only people in there is asa’s from felony review, ask any sheriff there, they will tell you the same
if the fbi investigates they will have the same conclusion they did with hillary destroying those e-mails and servers,,,,, there was no real criminal intent just stupidity in committing that criminal act

Bet no one followed the policy to store everything on a server and nothing on the physical computer. Many company’s wipe the hard drives every night as an additional just in case policy.
