Has no one read the news the past few years?
Collectively, police agencies across Illinois made more traffic stops in 2023 than they did the year before, according to a new report from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The report also shows that police continue to stop Black and Latino drivers at disproportionate rates and that dozens of police agencies fail to report traffic stop data, as required by state law.
“It’s really disappointing to see that after all the attention that has been paid to the disparity in traffic stops along racial lines, that we see not just the continuation of those racial disparities, but we see an increase in the number of stops,” said Ed Yohnka, director of communications and public policy at the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois.
The public and politicians don't want you making stops. The ACLU doesn't want you making stops....unless it means they get their names in the paper and more fodder for lawsuits.
The statistical BS continues with the "disproportionate" meme getting beaten to near-death.
Until they give police a list of offenses that minorities are allowed to commit with impunity, traffic stops should be a figment of their imagination.
In fact, the FOP (local, state and national) should declare a moratorium on all traffic stops until such time as there is an active and updated list of stops that cops are allowed to perform. Let the public live with these decisions made by useless politicians until they elect actual Law and Order types.

I have not written a traffic ticket in seven years.
The only reason Black's and Latinos are pulled over so much is that there are way more police officers in their neighborhoods. Why? Because the politicians and his citizens (not the loudmouths) want more officers there to dampen crime. And police leaders cannot come up with any other solution than to put more officers in those neighborhoods. Then they don't have the fortitude to explain to the public and the media why they are stopped more often.
And who then gets blamed? The blue shirts.
Read the order and card who did you believe the driver to be before you stopped them. I work on the eastside most Asian Pacific Islanders attend function at the casinos. Not after if you write citation's remember the same for sticker on the back. Remember this is a Obama test to show you knowingly stop black peoples. Windows up winter? Do you have X-ray eyes. Pluss all of the non- binary folks who stop not even on the card. Geez

Stop putting the police where the most crimes are committed then you will see the numbers drop which is what they want.
I work in a community that is 95% or more black. Odds are really good that if I made 10 stops a night, that the chances of pulling over 10 back drivers is very high. There’s not many white people driving at 10pm at 72nd and Sangamon. Therefore, if only black peoples are driving in a certain area, and some of them are committing violations, then mostly black people in that area will be stopped. I can’t stop white people in an area where there are no white people just to make the aclu happy. Also, if I’m in 007, 006 or 011 im most likely there because of the insane crime that happens on a daily basis.. police attempt to stop crime by conducting traffic stops in areas where crime is happening… I know this truth really kills the liberals, but black and brown neighborhoods have higher crime… therefor police do more stops in order to quell crime. In 016, there are not many shootings or homicides.. less crime, less aggressive officers and less need to try and quell crime.
If you stop them for an infraction, write them for that infraction.

Maybe they can then answer why M/1’s, who only comprise of 8% of the US population, are responsible for killing 40% of police officers.
But it’s actually much worse than that….1 year old M/1’s are not killing cops, neither are 80 year olds. M/1 cop killers are generally between the ages of around 15-50, and they probably make up only around 4% of the US population.
So a more accurate question would be…why does only 4% of the US population kill 40% of police officers nationwide??
Just maybe they get stopped because they break the traffic laws with same impunity they break all the other laws. Just saying.
G.O./S.O.’s should be amended to state “…anytime an officer makes a traffic stop, a citation MUST be written. If a citation is not written or an arrest processed, progressives discipline MUST be taken by a SUPERVISOR for each occurrence.”

Well Said....but you left out one thing. I'm retired now but worked in the same area(s) you quoted up above. Patrolling those 95% black neighborhoods....if you see a white guy or girl driving slowly through the hood...you definitely would stop them....their up to something!!!!!

Hey ACLU listen to a Police Radio and record the description of offenders of flash messages.
The solution is simple. Force more "non-diverse" people to 1. Drive through, and 2. Commit traffic violations in areas where the police are concentrated.
Otherwise I guess you could take police out of the areas where they're concentrated, and put them in areas where they've been stripped from.
Don't make traffic stops. Things will have to get worse before they get better anyway. Making more stops is just giving more oxygen to the pro-crime scum at the ACLU, Northwestern U., "injustice" watch and McArthur Foundation. The way people drive in this city drives me nuts. I really think you folks who work beat cars have the wrong idea. You should be enforcing everything. Even the small petty stuff. No warnings, just write tickets. You all are for a society of law and order. Right? How do we achieve that? Enforcing the law from the very bottom up. I would love to see people being ticketed for driving 10 miles an hour over the speed limit on Milwaukee Avenue. I firmly believe that enforcing the law in the small things will change the crime patterns to the point where criminals are less bold.
But many officers won't work a beat car because they can't handle a domestic. All these young kids with less than 20 years with inside spots......

In the late 1990s, a citizen in 007, who was from the predominant race in 007, had the gall to tell me (M/2) during a traffic stop that the only reason I pulled him over was because he was black. Yeah, he said this in 007 where 97 percent of the population was black. Without batting an eye, I told him I was part black, my wife was black and so were my kids. Said driver's jaw dropped and eyes popped out of his head. Then he gave me his license and said not another word.
