Twenty-Three Years
There are cops on the job now who weren't even born when 9/11 happened.
There are even more who have no actual recollection of the events of that day due to age, but they grew up under the reverberations of it.
There are also a large number of Officers who served in the string of conflicts following the attack and experienced an entirely different theater of the War on Terror.
And then there are the dinosaurs who lived and worked through one of the more disquieting and defining portions of our careers. As we exited the stage, we kind of got a sense of how the Vietnam Era coppers probably felt about us, and how the Korean War and WWII vets felt about them. Defining events of a generation.

I was actually hired under Clinton’s federal money initiative after 9-11. I was hired in 2005 and took the test in 2003. I was fast tract in the hiring classes and was on the job in less than a year and a half which is kinda unheard of. Next week is my 19th year on CPD. And I would like to take this time to thank all criminals and degenerates in Chicago for the OT I have accumulated over the years. I couldn’t have done it with out you. It has made a world of difference. My family thanks you and nothing beats spending time and my money in warm weather climates several times a year.

I’m a GWOT war veteran. The day I left iraq I took some sand and placed it in a tin box. I haven’t opened it since placing the sand inside. I placed it where when I walk in it’s the first thing I see. I did to reminded me it can always be worse. I was in the Marine Corps as a young Lcpl back then. Had no idea what would transpire the next two decades between OEF and OIF. One of the worst attacks since 12/7/41. Never forget.

Sadly it was because of 911 that cpd became my only employment option. I was hired by the Department of State but the offer was withdrawn due to the chaos and economic downturn resulting from the attack. 911 still looms

Can remember exactly where I was when that happened was listening to Howard Stern on the radio and he started talking about what was going on. He thought it was all a joke then he found out it was true was in an unmarked car on patrol West End of 008 district, when we were ordered into the area because they thought they were going to hit the Sears Tower took out a couple shotguns order to get back in uniform behave is ability very scary scenario. God bless all the police and firemen that rushed into their building. God bless all the innocent people that were killed that day. People were nicer to each other for a short time now the Democrats want to massively defund the police so many things have happened since 9/11 so much destruction inside of this country allowed due to the Democrats, praying President Trump gets back in office. I was at 26/ cal that morning. They shut the building down and I went to the district and we " 2162 " were assigned to guard 69 W. Washington. We were sitting ducks lol. The skies got quiet.

I was retired from the CPD by 2001. Working for a private company, canceled a business trip to San Diego just before 9/11. Attendees rented cars because air travel was cancelled for several days.
A week later I traveled to Boston/up the east coast. Waiting to board the plane, many men looked around and nodded their heads when you made eye contact. Meaning if anything when wrong on the flight, they were in on defeating any possible hijacking or threats like the people did on Flight 93. It was comforting to see, young and older men all in! This was common practice for several years. God Bless America.

I remember Obama campaigning to end both wars and closing GITMO. He had two full terms, 8 long years, and never did a damn thing. Bush started that crap, but Obama/Biden kept it going to enrich themselves and their friends.

My old partner and I often travel together. After 911 we no longer next to one another but across the aisle. We decided if we were going down we were going down fighting. We continue to travel this way all these years later.
The last real CPD officer I saw was standing on Adams and Wacker across the street from the Sears Tower in that night. I had to go back to the office for risk management. Leather jacket, just a sidearm, I think you still had billy clubs then, pretty big guy. We said hello, I may have said nice to see you. The US has been in decline ever since.

I was on the tail end of a furlo segment, and had fallen asleep the night before listening to the Art Bell C2C show on the radio. The radio was still on (WLS) and the news came on when I woke up and said that the towers were burning and it might have been a terror attack. I got up and turned on the TV and minutes later the first tower fell. I knew then that things would never be the same...
I listened to the ATC and FDNY scanner tapes last night, just to remember.
Out of the ashes of that horrific day was born the Surveillance State and the new enemy of a freedom loving country. Censorship, propaganda and fear are now the standard day-to-day reality as we lock step into the NWO. Now bend the knee and obey.
I truly remember where I was that morning those years ago.
But I did check the lower tier of buildings, looking for the old Chicago Prudential Building for a couple of seconds before realizing, Oh yeah.
Came on the job in 71 after serving 2 tours in SE Asia Plenty of guys in that boat and on the job Learned alot and did alot. Feel sorry for the guys on now. God bless the Vets and all those who served the CPD
