Homicide Capital of the Country....again:
- For the 13th consecutive year, the city of Chicago once again reigned as the nation’s homicide capital in 2024 with 573 murders.
Ted Dabrowski, the president of Wirepoints, believes that the illness has festered for too long.
Even as overall murder rates across the country dipped, Chicago also claimed the top spot for the highest murder rate per capita among big cities at 21.5 per 100,000 population. That’s three times the level of Los Angeles and nearly five times that of New York City.
Other places are seeing thirty, forty, even fifty percent drops in crime. Conehead is bragging about two and three percent drops in homicides while other categories climb yet again.
Granted, Conehead is only on the hook for two of the thirteen years, but no one should be bragging when Chicago is still in the top spot after four mayors and at least that many supernintendos. It simply points to the systemic failure to address crime at all.

Well, if you look at the decrease in the increase of inside and outside homicides, it will factor out to reveal a competitive edge for further decreasing the increase. Oh, and BTW, 70 degrees come this Friday. More intersection takeovers will be increasing above and beyond the previous decrease. That is all.
Morale is down due to sh-tty bosses and there are no news strategies to combat crime.

It's beyond crime. It's a family and culture issue. Let's be real....the black culture accounts for being 80% of the offenders and victims. It's a simple fix so for once perhaps the politicians could address the real issue instead of race baiting, dividing people and making excuses. Begin by implementing programs and education about love, God, family ,respect, responsibility, accountability moral values and finance. Merit picks for new sergeant list coming out soon. I don’t understand why we still have merit. If you look at our leadership in this department, most if not all gold stars were promoted to sergeant and lieutenant by merit. We complain about the poor leadership, yet if we eliminated merit, majority of these slums would never be able to make rank. SCC look at the exempts… easy to find out whose merit or not, would be great to post a list of all these so called leaders who made merit. At least go back to the old way and post the merit nominee test score next to the name to show how incompetent they are.

Why doesn’t CPD inform news media if an adult was home when the 5 year old was shot and 8 year old killed? 15 year old beats his 16 year old girlfriend to death . No news there . So news media concentrated on police responding to a call of a fight in park( where girl murdered) just drove by.

Sorry to say it, nothing is going to change unless there are major shifts in city politics. Just deal with it and make it work for you. High crime, low morale, high attrition, poor training, no plans, no vision, etc. are all effects from the merit system. Hell, even the pension funds are adversely affected from merit given that a lot of merit recipients spend a good chunk of their years contributing at a patrolman's rate then get multiple merit bumps in their last 5 or 10 years. Snelling contributed to the pension at the patrolman's rate for roughly 25 years...how the fuck do you justify a bloated pension based on promotions that he never earned and un-proportional contributions compared to the pay out? Same with Talley, she was a sergeant as recently as 2017 but yet she's in line for an unearned overinflated pension. It's fucked up and unfortunately cannot be changed.

And I’ll bet Yolanda will ensure that Sgt merit picks are at the full 30% … I looked back at the last list from the old test and the total average for merit picks for Sgt. was just about 20%… remember, it’s “up to 30%” per contract and YT probably runs thie merit shit show now and I’m sure those “envelopes” and pay back favors will be in full effect driving the merit picks to the full 30%… I hope I’m wrong
