The Illinois Prisoner Review Board’s recommendation about whether to free Larry Hoover is now on Gov. Pritzker’s desk. The board held a clemency hearing April 7 for the former Gangster Disciples leader and confirmed this week that its confidential recommendation had been sent to Pritzker, who doesn’t have a deadline to review it.
The Rev. Michael Pfleger, pastor of St. Sabina Church, and ex-mayoral candidate Ja’Mal Green say they’ve asked the governor to grant clemency for a murder conviction, though sources say state lawmakers aren’t actively lobbying. Last year, President Donald Trump granted Hoover clemency for a separate federal drug conspiracy conviction for running a $100 million a year narcotics business in Chicago, which resulted in Hoover being transferred from federal to state custody.
Hoover is imprisoned by the Illinois Department of Corrections on a sentence of 150 to 200 years for a 1973 murder, but it’s unclear where he’s being held. His clemency petition poses potential political costs and benefits for Pritzker as he seeks reelection this year and mulls a possible run for the presidency in 2028.
A "confidential recommendation" so that they don't have to face any political repercussions. And now even pfather pfleger wants a murderer freed - a murderer who directly and indirectly contributed to the deaths of how many minority people (and folks) along with countless million of dollars directed away from assisting those communities to line the pockets of criminal enterprises?
On the bright side, you can bet that there are more than a few political ads being drafted right now in order to Dukakis the shit out of Fata$$ if he embraces the criminal element.
Dukakis got buried by paroling a murderer to go out and commit a rape - Fata$$ will get painted with the same brush on the national stage in short order.

There is no such thing as a " life sentence" , no matter the crime. Now that the death penalty has been removed, just about any violent killer can be pardoned, or paroled. Cop killers all around the US have been released.

Sad truth: Black lives don't actually matter to progressive democrats. You are correct, but it's pretty stupid since a Dem candidate will ALWAYS have the black vote in Illinois. All it took for Rahm was for Obama to swing by & say "He's my guy!", and that locked up the winning vote for 2nd term.
