CFD Training Death
Not much information except that it occurred during training:
A Chicago Fire Department member died during a training exercise on the city's North Side, CFD said Thursday.
"The Chicago Fire Department mourns the loss of a 30-year member who died today during a training exercise," a statement read. "A procession to the Medical Examiner's Office is pending."
The training was taking place in in the 6600-block of North Kedzie Avenue, CFD said.
The CFD member was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where the member died, Chicago fire officials said.
It's been a rough spring for Chicago First Responders this year.
Deepest condolences to the family and the CFD.

Sad condolences to his family and friends
May he rest in peace, Godspeed brother. Prayers sent for his family like the Reverend Billy. Graham said you never tell anybody goodbye you tell them see you later. He said when he would pass he are only thing he has done is he has changed the address to be with God.
Sad…RIP!

Months away from retirement? Too sad for words.
Rest in peace Steve
RIP Brother. Training is probably the most dangerous part of the job. I had a couple of close calls when I was on the job.
So very sad for his family much respect for the firefighters and law enforcement officers being a retired one myself you never know when it's gonna happen!! As the saying goes try and cherish every moment cause you never know when it's your last. God bless and god speed.
Cardio and fitness are real. Get moving, everybody. These aren’t jobs where “I still have it in me when the time calls” - that’s a myth. You don’t have it in you, and you will get hurt, get others hurt, or die if you can’t fight other humans for us or the physical demands that come with firefighting.
R.I.P Prayers for the family and CFD.
Sad state of affairs and I hope the Lord is holding him with lovìng and compassionate grace. The CFD Commissioner has lost more members under her reign and safety conditions need to be addressed.
these criminals don't give 2 craps about police ,not afraid of being shot, arrested, incarcerated.
gather my friend in the beer garden of heaven that welcomes any who have served honorably
God Bless Your Watch is Over
Just sad. There are no words.....
RIP Brother
God bless Steve, and please any Police/Fire if your maxed out and our 55 take it as a wake up call and consider retirement. Most pension checks collected wins the game.
Condolences to his family, his CFD family, and to all who knew & loved him. Truly cherish the time here and express that love while you have the chance.

She doesn’t care. She’s safe and sound at her home in Countryside or Olympia Fields or wherever hoping the ring camera footage doesn’t drop.
Retirement couldn't come sooner.
RIP.
While Chicago firemen deaths from heart attacks or occupational exposure have for decades been considered as “line of duty” deaths Chicago policemen who have died from heart attacks after wrestling with arrestees or being battered we’re never considered line of duty and the family was screwed financially. Such was the case of the Ol’ Man’s academy classmate Paul Batson, 014th District from the class of 05 July 1957, who in 1962 at the age of 38 sustained a fatal cardiac event immediately after being punched in the chest by a male offender on a traffic stop. The Chicago Police Department Honored Star case displays the stars of officers who died heroically as well as those who perished under dubious circumstances; however, Paul Batson and many others who died from heart attacks or stroke after struggling with offenders were never shown the same deference. Some say the reason for this was Old Man Daley’s begrudging tolerance of the Police Department as opposed his warm sentiment towards the fire department. And I make this claim without bitterness or resentment since my family tree has both grunts and big bosses on both sides. RIP Patrolman Paul Batson #10018, 014th District, EOW 22 December 1962.
