I was a revolver guy....
Those guns too complicated...
Will food truck be there?
Beretta?
It's the one tool in the toolbox you hardly use, but if you need to use it, your life depends on it working. Take care of it.
Honestly, this is one of the best things FOP has ever done. This is a must for PPOs just getting out of the academy because you put lots of rounds through your gun (more than you will during the rest of your career) and probably made mistakes cleaning and oiling it. So take the 30 minutes to get it inspected and its parts replaced for free. (Unless you have an Sig P320. Just take it out of storage, clear it and throw that thing in the Chicago River.)
Or see the vet who lives in 022. I think he's been helping coppers for over 20 years. It's his version of zen. Good dude.
You are my kinda guy.
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
Hey, you get uniform checks every year. You can just replace your sidearm every other year.
Now may be a good time to check the functionality of your fire extinguishers (home and work) as well.
do they inspect revolvers free?
There are about 15 guys on job with a revolver
Understand that while a revolver may see fewer problems, those that do pop up are likely to require some serious intervention. You might not even be able to open the cylinder. Take care of your firearm.
Probably the biggest failure in Illinois police “reform” has occurred in the small town of DePue. Police responded to a hostage situation during which Anthony D Rodriguez taped sheets of plastic over the windows of his home, and stocked up on bleach before holding his family hostage with a knife. Officers responded and forced their way into the home. Apparently the offender then grabbed a 3 year old, using him as a human shield, while still armed with the knife. Officer’s then fired at the offender and accidentally hit the 3 year old. The offender “allegedly” then refused to hand over the 3 year old and the child died. The offender was placed into custody and is currently being held in the Bureau County Jail. Prosecutors stated they cannot charge him with felony murder due to the change in Illinois Law. Maximum sentence for causing the death of a child is only 5 years. Check out the offender’s mugshot, then look at the photo of the child. Absolutely heartbreaking
Hey SCC just retired and have a few old vests. Any idea what to do with them ? Vests for life St Michael Project no longer accepting.
Not in years but the do sell better weapons options…do be procured by your uniform check.
Only if you know a guy
Yes
Call the range, and see if they will accept them. I’m sure they would love to put some bullets through those vests as a training aid or demonstration for the PPO’s.
Eh, just pull it out of the holster every now and again and blow the dust bunnies off it.
Lol why would you? That's ridiculous every 2 years?
Or just keep a newspaper in your holster like a certain serial impersonator who rides with you.
Someone at the FOP has an answer
yep me
i hope so i’m still using one
Who?
I saw Mike Mette (yes he's a certified range instructor...) Take a guys old S/W 59.. out front with a rubber mallet and WD-40 and lightly tap on it for over 15 minutes, to get the slide to cycle and make the gun safe. This was someones daily carry. Think about how long it must've taken for it to seize up. C'mon guys...
Yeah...keep them for yourself and your family and wear them when they come back to visit Chicago (you will need them). Or duct tape the panels together and place them on the back of your driver's seat and driver's side-door in your vehicle and you now have a ghetto bulletproof car.
It was a vest cover he had stuffed with newspaper to look like there was a vest in it.
A ghetto liquor store owner would take it.
Aye caramba! You can get 100 bucks for it at Panchos Cantina on 18 and Loomis! Just remember to scrape the serial number off!!!
Congrats, your username qualifies you for handjob of the year.
I cringe at the thought of how much blue line shit is on your car and house and how many tattoos of the constitution and blue line punisher skulls and flags you have.
Sig-Sauer: "It ends today."
(Or until the next defective gun goes off by itself, which has since happened.)
Knew a suburban copper and range officer who had to take an old revolver down to the range to beat it open with a hammer. The ammo was so old and corroded the cylinder refused to swing out from the frame despite all his attempts to pry it. The gun could not be fired. The hammer wouldn't even go to half-cock. Gun was wrong nine ways to Sunday once the range officer finally got it apart. The gun was pulled by the business owner at his business when two juvies try robbing him with a pocket knife and a shotgun. Turned out the shotgun had no firing pin. Owner had no FOID at the time. Owner was bluffing and didn't even know it. 2 juvies arrested on the scene because owner held them at gunpoint until the cops arrived. I took the 9-1-1 call.
Beretta 92 ! The absolute best!
It sure was his vest cover that was filled with newspapers and magazines.
His holster was empty, covered by his just.
He smelled like shit for being 13.
