Obamanation Situation Gets Worse
Chicago is going to have a shitload fewer minority contractors around after 2026:
The Obama Presidential Center was billed as a lasting legacy to former President Barack Obama, and its construction was touted as an ambitious model built with aggressive goals for minority-owned and local businesses.
But now, some of the very subcontractors who helped build the 19.3-acre campus on Chicago’s South Side say they are facing financial ruin as they race to recover millions of dollars they claim remain unpaid ahead of the center's grand opening Friday. Overall construction costs were reported to be $830 million in 2021, and have likely climbed past the $1 billion mark.
A Fox News Digital investigation identified multiple construction firms claiming losses ranging from hundreds of thousands of dollars to tens of millions. The allegations cut against one of the Center's defining goals: helping minority-owned businesses and local contractors grow through one of Chicago's highest-profile construction projects. Several of the complaints reviewed by Fox News Digital come from firms that were supposed to benefit from that mission.
And that maintenance fund?
- The allegations emerge days after a Fox News Digital investigation reported that the Obama Foundation’s reserve fund — originally promoted as a $470 million financial safeguard intended to help protect taxpayers if the project encountered financial trouble — remains funded at roughly $1 million.
So that $469 million shortfall will likely be eaten by Chicago....which is broke.

Basically the CEO Valerie Jarrett the CEO of Obama Land (salary) $760,000.00 in her speech did some virtue signaling by recognizing the Indians who lived in that area “many moons ago”. Usually the Democrats just come out and say we are living on stolen land from the Indians. Of course they mean the white man stole the land.
There is a theory that the Indians from North America are descendants from Eskimos from the North.

Let’s not forget the original $175 million of taxpayer money that was given to the Obama Center by the state of Illinois and it is now up to 225 million. It seems that is forgotten in the equation that we the people are paying for this monstrosity. Taxpayer money should allow free access for citizens of the state of Illinois, but not these folks.
Hakeem Jeffries and Gavin Newsom were at the Obama Center opening. Hochul was busy posing at the parade in NYC, pretending to be a Knicks fan. Cory Booker and Obama have had some differences in the past, so he might have decided not to go to begin with.

If close to 100% of contractors were stiffed out of money, where did 830 million go to? How about looking at the connected companies that actually got payed , for doing nothing.

When somebody finally gets serious about paying the over the top bills for the construction of this ego fueled, parasitic plundering of public land, this center, probably because of the gymnasium, which by the way really has no place in a presidential "library", will ultimately become property of the Chicago Park district or a Jackson Park YMCA. But that will probably have to wait until this fraud's real history comes forth. But the fawning media will continue to provide cover, for this vile mistake from Kenya.

It is about time that set asides for race in these contracts is ended. And, I think the Supreme Court is hinting at that. I recall when these minority contractors were involved in more than one police building. The quality of work leaved something to be desired.

Most all of the minority contractors are sub contractors hired by the large contractors that do all the work. This is how large contractors Like Johnson, Honeywell Turner, Clayco, Kenny achieve Illinois and Chicago minority requirements. The small guys will get paid eventually, after the big guys get paid.

The city's share of infrastructure improvements for this project, water, sewer, roads, street lighting etc. exceeds $200 million of our taxpayer dollars already.

Quick math, annual maintenance budget should equal 1% of construction cost. That's a new roof every 10-15 years, new hvac equip every 15, Cabinets and bathroom fixtures every 15, carpet & paint every seven. That doesn't count landscaping, security, utilities, cleaning or display upkeep. So, $840m to build less $240 for design and sitework, leaves $600m, for a maintenance budget of $6 million per year average. you'll skate for the first couple of years while everything is new... but don't expect the contractors you stiffed to do any warranty work.
