That's actually a significant sentence should he serve the majority of it:
A Chicago man accused of shooting two Venezuelan migrants outside a police station before leading officers on a high-speed chase that ended when he crashed into a CPD squad car has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.
Anthony Evans, 28, pleaded guilty to aggravated battery by discharging a firearm and aggravated DUI in exchange for concurrent sentences of 18 years and five years, respectively, according to court records. Judge Shelley Sutker-Dermer handled the case and sentenced Evans.
The incident unfolded on an afternoon in October 2023 outside the Grand Crossing (3rd) District police station at 7040 South Cottage Grove Avenue. Prosecutors said Evans opened fire outside the station, striking a 28-year-old woman in the buttocks and a 24-year-old man in the right thigh. Both victims were migrants from Venezuela who listed the Grand Crossing station as their home address, according to Evans’ arrest report.
Moments later, officers spotted a Jeep Cherokee matching the description of the vehicle wanted in connection with the shooting, the report said. Evans sped away northbound on State Street before eventually swerving into the southbound lanes, according to police. He crashed into a Chicago police tactical unit squad car in the 5400 block of South State Street.
While we aren't about to tell people to vote FOR a judge (because the rot goes so deep), it's good to see one of them actually handing out some substantial years. Maybe the word has gone out to stop being so lenient?
Probably not, but hope springs eternal.

In chicago illegals are a protected class like the elderly. So by shooting illegals your sentence is increased.

It’s an election year. You will see a lot of Law and order in the next few months. But then after the elections, you’ll see liberal verdicts.

I was on a case where a thug did a drive by and missed shooting at 9 people. He got a plea deal for one count of reckless discharge and had time served for his county time and was released with 8 months. It’s clear, don’t mess with the migrants. Regular Joe citizens is fair game.

He only got 18 years because he shot illegals. That’s all over social media. Bet this judge is just as bad as all the rest. Would love to see their decision record.
Can’t have any illegals shot up. They won’t want to come and take up your jobs, housing or light up tire donuts in your hood. Worse, the rats would lose voters.
Loved the part about the illegals used the station as their home address. Pity they weren’t in lock up or their own country. They might not have experienced the fed up community lighting up the streets.
Judges are just llike politicians...they only start doing the right thing when its election time.

thats a 40 year sentance anywhere else other than Crook county. Hood and Calabrese are the only good judges at skokie

18 years... cut in half automatically for good behavior so now you're down to 9 years, then take out the other three years you spent with trial and now you're re down to six...

Now that is an anomaly for sure. 18 + 5 as a sentence? Totally unheard of. One must seriously question WHY? Most MURDERS don’t get that. So why? Am I missing something in what the crime was? Couple agg batts and a chase?

Ban concurrent sentence. Make a sign banning them

Never trust a Crook County judge. One positive decision against the background of horrible piss poor decisions over the years by the judiciary is meaningless. Vote no on the retention ballot in November.
Waller wants to bring back Captains as Watch Commanders in every District. The Captains will be assigned to 12 hour shifts , rotate every 3 periods . Hours ill be 0600-1800hrs and 1800-0600hrs. Field Lt. will fill in on Captains day off and receive out of grade pay. Captains will no longer b assigned as Inspectors.
Inspectors will be chosen from Sergeants with a minimum of 5 years in District Patrol.
