No one is talking about it — at least not yet — but this month will be the worst September for murder in Chicago since the early 1990s. That sad fact follows closely behind July, one of the single worst months for homicides in the city since modern recordkeeping began during the 1950s.
So, what are city leaders doing to reverse the trend?
They’re taking even more cops out of every single neighborhood across the city to sit on street corners downtown.
Since publication, the Department rescinded the Tactical Team portion of recent orders, but all Districts are still sending multilple Units/Officers downtown. Supposedly, the aldercreatures raised Hell with the Department stripping out the teams. We'll see if they notice beat cars missing. We've seen numerous comments that many district are running overnight with four total cars, which isn't safe for citizens or cops.

Yeah, there are a lot of killings and shootings in Chicago, as mentioned by the president in Tuesday night's debate, but the Groot made Chicago proud with her response to the president's words. She could not argue about the fact there are a lot of murders and shootings, so she attacked the predident by saying, "keep Chicago out of your lying mouth."
It seems the Groot knows there is a big problem and apparently she has no idea how to reduce the numbers, but her ire is directed at the president because he mentioned the problem during the debate.

Currently short almost 1000 officers. There is a direct correlation. Shortages on watches and violence.. word is they want to eliminate all vacancies. Imagine what you could do with 1000 extra officers. 40 more POs in every district. Or, Build a unit that handles riots and protests with riot control training and full gear. When down they can patrol downtown so we don't lose our businesses. Just an idea.
What people don't know is the manning factor for the department is 2 to 1. We have a budgeted number of 13,500. 5% (use to be average)are on medical everyday including IOD, which isn't bad considering what conditions we encounter. So we are down to 12,800. Then the manning factor comes in. With contractual time off (RDOs, Furlough, Personal days, Baby Furlough days)and limited CU it takes 4 officers to man a 2 man car and 2 officers to man a 1 man car. Now we are down to 6,400 to hit the street every night. NOW take 1000 officers off of that which we are short and we have 5,400 members to work each day divided among 3 watches and all the support units. 800 of which are supervisors meaning 4,200 members working below rank of sgt. hit the streets. We need to be a department of 15,000 NOT 12,500. Only through overtime have they been able to keep it going because its cheaper to pay overtime for one than hire two top fill same spot. Good luck Chicago and CPD!!

If the DA won't prosecute and the judges won't put murderers into jail what point is having a police force that catches them?

It's expected that Nov Election will bring more riots and protests, because Trump will win election, regardless of current punditry and polls indicating that Biden "is ahead". Democrats are openly noting that they expect election to be "contested", that Trump will need to be "removed", and encourage "the people" to anticipate extended-period of civil unrest accordingly.
It's time to stockpile food and plywood. It's time to plan for two or three months of hunkering-down at home, or out-of-state 2nd home, while chaos ensues.
I think LL and Brown are attempting to "get-ahead" for a change, to make plans for the future certain downtown crime-sprees, riots, and property vandalism. Otherwise, downtown Chicago, River North and Mag Mile, tourism and corporate support of LL administration will all be so irretrievably damaged that it will take many years, to "recover" if Chicago doesn't simply become another Detroit wasteland.
What's happening is "triage", where all resources are allocated to the most-important, most critical assets, acknowledging other areas will suffer. Frankly, CPD assignments to highest violent-crime districts should be reduced, because those areas are already Detroit-like neighborhoods with little to no tax-base value to Chicago coffers. I've never understood how the heavy presence of police is supposed to stop a gang-shooting, or a domestic shooting within a home or yard. You guys can't catch bullets, unless they're specifically directed at you, and you unfortunately get hit. Meanwhile, residential taxpayers take it on the chin, over and over again, paying highest municipal taxes in nation, and receiving crappiest municipal services too.
Yes, higher crime rates and lower population increases the per capita danger.

80% of CEO's are shopping their properties and have no plans to return downtown ever again.
Their main reason - they feel there is no way to keep the employees safe and until beetlejuice is gone it will continue as such.

She was given to October 15th to decide. West unloaded on Carter and Brown so they said that the decision came directly from the mayor. West stormed out and immediately filed her retirement papers. The entire conversation took less than 5 minutes.

In the sixteen months since I was elected, I've done many things to make improvements in your lives. Chicago is a better place because of my policies.
For example, this year alone, as of today, 3210 people have been shot and out of those, a whopping 604 have been killed. And it's only the first week of October! We still have three months to improve our numbers.
In 2010, the worst year in Afghanistan, casualties totaled 440 of our citizens killed in action. And that's in a war zone. We've exceeded six hundred dead and we're just a city and not a whole nation. So, you should be proud of the efforts put forth by our upstanding citizens. Way to go, people! Keep up the good work.
In the future, I plan to help the many disadvantaged "people of color" and those with confused gender identities. Since the rest of you Chicagoans have so much in the way of wealth, and they have so little, my plan is give much of what you already have to them.
It's a simple plan. Tax the regular everyday people and give that money to the disadvantaged. Simple . . . and effective! After all, the disadvantaged contribute so much to society. It's a shame to see them fall by the wayside. We can look to cities like Baltimore and Detroit as models to help us a achieve what we're striving for . . . a really great city that offers free things to people that don't care.

Even without the violence, looting and such, there's still my main, major, "big league" dealbreaker I have with BLM...their complete reckless disregard over guilt or innocence of either party. In any white on black situation, the black is automatically presumed to be an innocent martyr while the white is automatically presumed guilty of a RACIST HATE CRIME. They simply don't care about half ruining the lives of innocent people.
Our country is supposed to be all about innocent until proven guilty. So as long as BLM continues to insist on their "presumption of guilt of racist hate crime" for most every white person no matter what really happened, then there is no way I could ever go along with BLM even if they may have started out with okay intentions.

CPD must practice what the Army calls Defense in Depth. If The Groot wants to defend ( so to speak) The Loop/ Michigan Avenue, this is the LAST place and LOWEST priority to allocate resources ( manpower). The “ Enemy” should never get close to this area! The First Line of Defense— where resources should be allocated FIRST— is in the neighborhoods where the Bad Guys live! Attack the Enemy Supply Line and Homelands. The Second Line of Defense is a Mobile Defense on the roads and public transit connecting the Bad Guys’s Neighborhood/ Home Base with The Loop/Michigan Avenue. IF the Enemy gets through the First and Second Lines of Defense, then the Enemy ( hopefully worn down and worn out) encounters the Third Line of Defense, CPD o the ground in The Loop.
