Completely safe for temporary residential use......we swear!**
Arsenic, mercury, lead, manganese and a chemical used in PVC were among the heavy metals and toxic contaminants discovered in the soil at a Southwest Side site that is being prepared to house newly arrived migrants.
In each case, these contaminants were detected at levels that require cleanup to protect human health, according to a nearly 800-page report City Hall released late Friday evening.
In addition, traces of other toxic chemicals, including cyanide, pesticides and the long-banned, cancer-causing compounds known as PCBs were also found by a city consultant.
Despite finding all the toxic matter, city officials said the most problematic levels of contamination were removed and declared the site “safe for temporary residential use.”
The state and city government KNOW it isn't safe:
“The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency will have to review it,” said Jordan Abudayyeh, a spokeswoman for Gov. J.B. Pritzker. “We will not utilize that site if IEPA does not sign off.”
She declined to comment further until state officials review the report.
The city’s consultant said it can’t guarantee there isn’t additional contamination, and if additional materials are discovered, “activities should be halted.”
“We cannot represent that the site contains no hazardous substances, toxic material, petroleum products or other latent conditions beyond those identified during this evaluation,” the city consultant Terracon said in the report.

When I was a F/F we trained on several different things one of them was Hazardous materials. I remember my instructor (A CFD Batt Chief considered the leading authority in “Hazmat”) he said that heavy metals like Mercury were so expensive to transport & destroy properly that even an ounce of Mercury could run over $50,000 depending on where the facility is. The city HAD to know that there are hazardous chemicals stored or dumped there. Why wasn’t it marked as an EPA Superfund site? Now I don’t give 2 bowel movements about ILLEGAL ALIENS but how many citizens of this once great country have been exposed to this area????? You have probably have seen the attorney’s ads on TV reaching out to people who may have been victims of toxic waste at Camp LeJeune US Marine Base in NC. It is expected to cost the government 3.3 trillion giving claimants from $100,000.00 to $550,000.00. The suit is still active.
So for this migrant tent camp they are allotting $65,000,000.00. So for 2000 migrants they would be spending $32,500.00 per person to house each of them in tents.
If they were to send them back to Venezuela (the air fares vary from about $350.00 to $1,000.00. January is the cheapest month to fly there.). So if 2000 were sent back at $700.00 per person it would cost $1,400,000.00.
So the more we hear about the site being polluted there seems to be an uncertainly as to whether the site will be safe now or in the future. What isn’t known are the ramifications of cramming 2000 people together in a tent or tents. Who will provide police, fire and medical, food & housekeeping services? It seems doubtful they will be able to keep those tents warm when we get sub zero weather. Then when the migrants become disenchanted with the living conditions what do they do then. A few weeks ago in NYC migrants were removed from some hotels and bussed to a tent camp in Brooklyn. When they got off the bus they took a look at the tent camp and got back on the buses and refused to stay and saying take them back to the hotels.
As everyone keeps saying this is a recipe for a disaster seems to be coming to fruition. When it really gets cold many of these migrants will want to move back home. It would be a lot cheaper to provide flights home. Our political leaders need to wake up and end this folly.

But you could not just be any schmuck and hand over money to someone for the test questions. You have to be connected. My dad was pretty well connected and I leveraged his connections.
They gave me the test questions and all I had to do was study my special study guide. I scored very well. I consider this money well spent.

I agree with the 2nd comment. No there will not be a migrant camp at Wentworth Park.
I spoke with the Alderman when the rumor first surfaced and he assured me that it will not happen, and that the city had no plans for that location. While Wentworth is a large park, it is not big enough to put anymore than one of those large tents. There is no field house at Wentworth Park. The Park Dist just spent a ton of money putting in an artificial turf baseball diamond and an electronic score board. There are two schools immediately adjacent to the park (Kinzie grammar school and Kennedy HS) that use it for their sports programs. There would be far more parents pissed if Wentworth was a site than there are at that Brighton Pk location.
We better hope the plan goes through for tent city in Brighton Park . Too many migrants continuing to come in and that’s what the Dems will continue to all since we are approaching election year . If that tent city doesn’t open they will go right back into police districts and we will have a repeat . Most districts are completely closed off to the migrants and all services cut off so let’s hope it stays that way

The last test that happened was over 5 different days. People that got day 1 are the least likely to have cheated. Day 1 and some of day 2 testers are the only ones that can say they scored legitimately if they made it.
