You know it's bad when even the Slum Times admits one hundred people got shot:
Seventeen people have been killed and at least 83 wounded during shootings in Chicago over the extended Fourth of July weekend.
By the end of Friday, the tally of shootings — six people shot Thursday and 62 shot Friday, 12 killed over both days — surpassed the numbers for last year’s entire holiday weekend. Last year, 11 people were killed and 62 wounded over the holiday weekend, which stretched over four days, July 1-4.
This year’s holiday violence includes four mass shootings. In all, 24 people were shot, four fatally, in the mass attacks.
But don't worry. Conehead says all that OT money was well spent in spite of the ruined family holidays.
Mayor Brandon Johnson said in a statement the Chicago Police Department would deploy officers whose days off for the holiday weekend were previously canceled, aiming “to maximize presence and ensure prompt incident response.”
“We are devastated by the recent violence that has left our city in a state of grief, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and communities impacted by these recent events,” Johnson’s office said in a statement.
No words of thanks or apologies to our spouses, kids and relatives who had one (or both) of their parents dragged away from a proper holiday celebration.

The final tally this weekend was 109 shot and 19 DOA. If 109 people contracted leprosy and 19 died it would be a National Emergency and the areas would be flooded with Dr’s and Nurses. I would like to see a complete revamp of the detectives, like maybe taking their own dam pictures at the crime scene instead of showing up to the DOA in which the identity is known 3 hours later then telling the PO to order an ET for photos. Complete waste of time. Or better yet throw them back in beat cars and let them handle jobs until a defective is needed. I know its a great spot, I'm just busting balls. Keep killing them on that OT!

Another money maker I was thinking about.
Maybe we can even cage homing pigeons that we can rent out for Peace Dove releases. They return after every frunerals and they all they eat is seed so there’s little to no overhead other than the Suntimes we’d have to buy to line the bottom of the cages.

Headquarters parking lot is jam packed still. Can’t even park in the lot if you’re going on or off medical. Tell me exactly why the lot is full every day? How many people are working at headquarters?

I’ve got to agree with happily retired. The firemen did it in the early 80s. Everybody call off, everybody. Let the purge begin. Maybe lack of police will draw your animals back to the city where they belong. I can think of reasons why you don’t want to, good reasons, but NOTHING’S GOING TO CHANGE until you all don’t show up. Fuck the citizens of Chicago. Give them a few days without you to shit on and their tune will change. And why not maximize the strategy. Do it during the DNC.

When Phil Cline was superintendent the homicide rate was driven into the 400 range. Yes there was overkill with contact cards, street stops, massive missions and car stops -but it worked. Then the progressives got their panties in a bunch, Cline was forced (another topic) out and the ACLU took over practical management of the police department with Lisa Madigan as their front for the state / DOJ consent degree. And guess what happened to the homicide rate? In this political climate it is not possible to go back to those proven old school methods so let accept the new reality of the killings continue and accept them as the new normal.
Do you know that you can make a par form to take the day off without pay? I did that back in the 70s when a boss wouldn’t give me a night off for something I wanted to do. He ended up caving and I was given the time off, they said because it would cause too much confusion down in finance. Nevertheless, I was able to take my time off and if you can’t go without a pay, then you’re doing something wrong financially.

Came to assist fellow PO’s who were shot at in 006. . Arrived at the usual mashup of squad cars and found 40-75 PO’s at an intersection thinking we were on X or close to. Finally switching to the appropriate zone I hear the actual incident was two blocks away! What if it was you who was almost taken away from your family? For a long period of time , the critical precious first minutes, so many were standing around Yucking it up. And I cannot confidently say even a small percentage searched yard to yard even after spoon fed parameters by some white shirt 25 minutes later. I understand we have inept bosses, but you shouldn’t have to require an order or nudge to help your brother/sister. There is a time and place for catching up.
