Part 2 of the most recent test is scheduled for tomorrow. We're sure someone out there has some idea of what is going to be the main gist of the exam.
And where the heck are the results from the Sergeants Exam? Some said they were going to be mailed out next week? Or the week after? Or never?

At least one more class of Sgts. will be made off of the old list. New list won't be out until the summer-if at all. There is talk the test is going to be shitcanned due to too many questionable questions being removed. Can you say 19 Paul?

Since we paid a fee for the last Sgt. exam, are we not entitled to the results. I don't mean a piece of paper with a number on it, but the actual ( or copy ) of the written portion with all the points. This could help with future promotions. If I do not make it, I would like to know what I did correct/incorrect. Is it me or does that seem obvious?
It is difficult watching these merit promotions. I don't know how it was 20+ years ago, but it is a joke now. I've seen dozens of merit promotions over the past decade+ and none were legit.
Some good guys, some bad guys.
The killer is the merit Sgt. These guys don't consider it a gift to be promoted, they feel it's thier birthright. And they love to give the orders. They do however lie and tell people ( who don't know the truth) that they
"scored 122", or whatever they heard someone else in the class score that was legit. Be proud, tell the truth "I am a moron, and was promoted to Sgt. because I golf with LT. Soandso"

If I make it legit, you can be sure I will post the Legit and Merit Sgt.'s on this site.
It won't be hard to figure out.
The legit will quickly give their score to prove they did it legit. The Merit will sit quietly, hoping nobody notices them. Then when they hit the district. " I'm Sgt. Squarenuts, I can tell you what to do. Blah Blah Blah."
The legit Sgt. doesn't need to push you around, he knows what he can and cannot do.

Let's be fair. They have to make a certain type of supervisor today. They can't have a guy who did things the "right way". That guy will put young coppers in jail. I know I could never be a supervisor.
In conclusion, the job (maybe law enforcement nation wide) sucks and it's only going to get worse. Advise for the young coppers out there...go back to school, real estate, deferred comp, etc.. forget about the JOB taking you anywhere.
I bet Matt Cline, Wieberg, Christen and others will do well. Heard they attended a GREAT "study group"! Ahh the leadership gene!

The Burg in the Mayor's basement was changed to a theft per the Sgt. because there was no sign of forced entry and it's not a main living space.

The Lt's second part is an oral exam. I don't know whether to go for the obvious joke or beef about the obvious potential for abuse.

Watch for cheaters in the bathrooms. According to the Fax that came out this aftenoon, "all cell phones, pagers, PDA's...must be turned off and may not be accessed in any way at any time while inside the testing facility."
Yeah, right! Unless we're going to get patted down, what's to stop someone from sticking one of those things in their shorts, hitting the john and firing it up?
The noticed we (at least the one I picked up) said no cell phones will be allowed in the facility.

Don't go hating on Sgt. Owens. If you don't like the man, fine. But if he makes it, he makes it. 015 has a meritorious Lt. there. 024 did too...he recently returned to OCD. And guess what? Neither of them are BLACK. So get over it.
Far more non-minorities are moved up the meritorious ranks than are people of color. Of course, the mindset here is that only blacks & browns get the nod. If you believe that, you're a fool. That argument is as valid as the "minority" businesses at the airports fronted by the Duff family, friends of Daley.
Do you really believe the FOP would allow the Dept. to initiate a program that would actually INCREASE the numbers of black & brown members in ANY rank on this job? REALLY?

There are far worse Sgts. out there than Milt Owens. He has never attempted to hurt anyone on that team, as I recall. And believe me, he's got some goofy, sorry ass coppers on his team that most Sgts. would have bounced back to the beat car a looooooooong time ago!! I've seen coppers on his team when they've been assigned to uniform dress go out with hoodies on over the uniform.
That kind of shit has gotten a few coppers in another unit a whole bunch of free press time recently.

I heard a Sgt complaining about some "f'in broad" whose cell phone went off during the test just as the first group was leaving. He said that she just held it looking at it for quite some time. Nobody took it, so they're just a bunch of blowhards. This Sgt also said that he should have just took his cell phone inside with all of his notes inside and crapped for 10 minutes studying it, making sure that he got a couple more right answers.
Count the number of any minorities that are Detective, Sergeant or Lieutenant. Ha ha ha Merit is not thier biggest assett. Hillard even bought into that practice. Mauer told him that to his face, how can you complain about minorities being promoted to Exempt when minority bosses do not even put people in those reflective of them, especially to the rank of Lietuenant. Their are 15 blacks, 3 hispanics and 1 asian descent.

It wasn't so bad, if you you studied. I glanced around and noticed several people who looked confused. My house looks like a pit, but now I can go back to living! And that shit is going a box and into storage!
I got lucky and was in the 0830 batch and was also the first in the room for the oral part. I was home by 1300.
Out of the 32 in my room, 3 didn't show up. Multiply that by however many rooms there where and I'm gonna guess 100 didn't show.

um....You can't be talking about a SGT class......how is that gonna happen without 'merit'? Around 60 (maybe 30?) days BEFORE a class is put in, the gold stars are notified to gather up their suck-hole names for the merit portion of promotion and then to submit those names. This is done thru the AMFN or whatever its called. I haven't heard of any faxes being sent out......

There were 100 spots approved by the city council for the last Sgts class. They only used 50 right off the bat. the other 50 will be appointed after this class leaves. There will be no new fax msg for merit because the dept will use the names of those submitted for merit last time. Think of it as a class of 100 just split into 2 groups.
