SCC, despite our disagreements, I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiment on this ridiculous piece of legislation. The only way to defeat this bill is to write your state reps. Or, you can always just wrap the guns in oil-cloth and plastic and bury them in the yard.

It is not "hunting" that made these guns legal in the first place. It was so our goverment doesnt get too big and we have the ability to take it back if it does. Sounds crazy?? Thats why we can have weapons. Not just hunting animals but taking our country back. Ask the Germans under Hitler first thing they wanted was the guns.
Who cares, don't register them and when they come looking just tell them how you personally destroyed them when they passed these unconstitutional laws. Here's another piece of legislation we should care about. It looks like it is stalled in the Senate Pensions and Investments Committee.
IL SB 1197,was introduced by Sen. James A. DeLeo and amends the Chicago Police Article of the Illinois Pension Fund. It would provide that "a widow's annuity shall no longer be subject to termination or suspension due to remarriage.
"Any widow's annuity that was previously terminated or suspended by reason of remarriage shall, upon application, be resumed as of the date of the application, but in no event sooner than the effective date." It does specify that the resumption shall not be retroactive.
Shouldn't the FOP have us writing senators on that committee to get it moving?
Next it will be our handguns the democrats are at it again!

Has anyone acutally read this piece of legislation? I agree with the ban on possssession, production, blah blah blah on large caliber weapons. You can't hunt with them, and they have no purpose whatsoever in civilian hands. leave those to the professionals(hopefully that means us).

Years ago it was the "saturday night special" that capitivated the gun grabbers. Their argument was that such a weapon had no place in a militia. Hmmmm, so now that people want to own semi-auto rifles that resemble true assault weapons, the gun grabbers holler no one needs them, we have the National Guard.
Truth be told, the right to keep and bear arms has nothing to do with hunting, it has to do with individuals having the right to defend their liberty....either individually, or collectively. Remember our country gained their independence because they were armed.
Law abiding people are just that, law abiding. They obey gun laws, criminal laws, most laws in general. Gun grabbing laws only restrict the rights of the law abiding, because by their very definition, criminals are.....criminals!! They do what they want, when they want, and care less about anyone else.
This legislation is nothing more than another attempt at total gun confiscation. Once that's in place, then watch out everyone. Look what happened in Australia when the gun grabbers got their way. Violent crime rose over 40%.

My two cents worth...I am a member of the NRA and the Il Rifle Assn. and when I was notified of the proposal I immediately called (left a voicemail and Emailed) Sen. Deleo and expressed my extreme displeasure with bill 16. I informed him that not only will this proposal hurt the law abiding citizens of Illinois, it is unconstitutional. Three days later, no reply. Funny, when election time comes around, the knocks on doors and flyers in my mailbox are neverending. When it comes to my rights, closed door sessions and no reply. I can't wait to retire and leave this leftist state! It will never change.
