4 Million Page Views

You like us! You really really like us! We'd like to thank the Academy and members of the... oh wait. Wrong speech. Oh well.

Somewhere around 0800 hours Saturday, we had our 4 MILLIONTH page view.

4,000,000

Anyone know how many visitors or page views Camden and Henry have had? Yeah, that's what we thought, too.

Anyway, thanks people. Here's hoping for another 4 million.

Pat Camden has a blog? Does he look as tan and sexy as he does on tv?

Bring him back, this Monique Bond hack makes me cringe when she speaks for the police, seeing as she never was.

I was looking at one of the previous topic entries on the blog a few days ago regarding new weapons that are going to be approved for duty use and someone posted a link about that new training group Team Spartan. I checked out the website that was posted, www.teamspartan.com and seen that most of these guys are from CPD!! It looks like they are doing a ton of training and I wanted to know if anyone has trained with these guys and how their training classes are. Their instructor credentials and backgrounds look very impressive, but I want to know if it's worth the money to train with them. Their course tuitions are not overly expensive, but I want to get the best training for my $$$. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

TJ,

I took Advanced Pistol 1, Advanced Pistol 2 and Using Cover While Moving and Shooting classes last year. All top notch training. Some of the most professional training I have ever attended. That training definitely made a difference too.

I was involved in a police shooting last October. Guy shoots his wife, then shoots at the police when we show up. That training I learned kicked right in. 6 shots - 6 hits. Dropped the guy right there. End of story!!

I wouldn't be posting this information if that training didn't save my life. But I know I would not have reacted the same way with what I learned with CPD.

On the contrary, what I learned in the academy would have probably got me hurt or killed! CPD is not teaching any of the information I learned with Spartan.

I highly reccommend Team Spartan whether you are the working police or not, because you never know when your number is going to come up!

Amen

For TJ -

On Team Spartan, I'm not on with Chicago PD, but when I was with the Federal Reserve Police, I was one of their firearms instructors and assigned to certifying operators with the MP-5 and AR-15 rifle. I was referred to Team Spartan by one of your instructors on the range and FRP sent me to Team Spartan's MP-5 and AR-15 rifle instructor courses. We don't do a lot of training at FRP, but those courses were the best training courses I have ever attended. Since then, we have implemented both training programs into our current operator certification courses on both weapon systems. I haven't taken any of their handgun courses yet, but from what I've seen in the 2 one week courses I attended, these guys offer excellent training.

TJ / 007:

I have taken their courses and it is money well spent.
It is not very expensive, and the money you do spend pays for a lot of ammo that you shoot off.

You learned the basics at the range in the academy. However, the basics won't keep you alive in a gun fight where people, not paper targets, shoot back.

Again, money well spent.

I know alot of guys who have trained with team spartan, and they all belive this training to be a great experience for them. It is real world training such as shooting while moving and from all different positions. It is not like what the department teaches us, just standing in front of a target and shooting at it. I am also going to give it a try.

On Team Spartan.....

If you like training with Simunitions, they have a course called Using Cover While Moving and Shooting. This course was some of the most realistic training I have ever taken!!! Lots of head-to-head scenario time with Simunitions. I've never had a class that physically and mentally exhausted me the way this course did. They get you as close as they can to gunfight stress and fatigue without actually firing real bullets at you! This course has taken me to a whole new level of how I think and act on the street. Check out the course description at this link:

http://teamspartan.com/teamspartan_firearms_training_USING_COVER_WHILE_MOVING_AND_SHOOTING.htm

You'll never get training like this at CPD. These guys are the real deal and most of them have been there and done that!!!!

Team Spatan,JK and crew are all good guys. Former military/police and squared away. Very good training for the price combined with and from guys with real world experience. All coppers should attend their training at some point. CPD should subcontract them.

Yea, that's the guy IAD falsely arrested and then found out they had the wrong copper!!! Nice job! The guy was exonerated in court and now he's going after ADS Debra Kirby and the idiots in IAD that started this mess with a
$2 million dollar lawsuit!

So they return the favor by keeping him stripped at 376 as punishment even though the original CR # has been closed for almost 2 years! Talk about malicious retaliation!! We've all seen it on this department, power corrupts.

What's next, automatic sustained CR numbers without answering allegations? It looks like that's what's on the horizon for us. Not good......

I took the Spartan knife course; AC, ML, SJ were the instructors, it was great. I carried a knife for years, and 5 minutes into the class realized I was not properly trained. I am now! JK is a good guy (Marine, real street cop, good shoot-one less shithead, excellent trainer). Rest assured those blogging shit don't have the stones to say that crap to your face. JK, you have plenty of friends who know how this Dept is screwing you. I hope you sue their asses off!

Hey JK, hang in there bro. You're doing a lot of good for coppers with what you have put together with your Spartan company. It doesn't matter if people like you or dis you, the bottom line is you're teaching coppers how to survive and that's all that matters. No hater can take how you have helped copppers from you or your crew. That chump that put that question out at
5/13/2007 06:53:00 PM is the same person that answered their own post at 5/13/2007 10:01:00 PM! That's how they play the game on this site bro!! None of those punks will confront you or try talking shit to your face because, well.....everyone knows how you deal with punks.... Those people are always going to be out there trying to snipe people off no matter how much good you do!
You got a lot of people on CPD, especially bosses, that know the real deal with how you got the shaft and how you're being treated. There are a lot more people in your corner then you think. Everyone is just waiting for the big change thats coming and it's coming soon. You just gotta ride this BS out. You got them beat at their own game all the way around, and they know it. Keep doing what you're doing.

Peace - Rob

I just finished taking the 3rd part of Team Spartan's Defensive Duty Knife course last week and that whole program rocks!! They have 3 defensive tactics instructors all from CPD,(2 PO's and a Sgt), that know their stuff. After going thru this 3 day course, I now realize just how much of a threat edged weapons are to officers! Scary stuff! You don't want to get cut or stabbed! I never really gave it any thought that I may have to use an edged weapon as a last ditch personal defense tool, but these guys put it in perspetive that when someone is trying to kill you, anything goes! I also liked the intensity of the class. I'm looking forward to taking their pistol class at the end of the month. Cheers!

TJ - Thanks for the info on Team Spartan. I checked out their website and they have a ton of interesting classes. I like the fact that they are offering a lot of these classes locally, too. I hate the thought of having to drive or fly out to Blackwater or Gunsite for quality training when I can get it with these guys right here. I called them today and registered for their Speed on Steel class coming up next month. 1200 rounds in 2 days! Now that's trigger time you just can't get anywhere! That's gonna be fun. CZ

Very impressive Team Spartan. I looked at their training schedule and these guys have over 50 training classes scheduled across the country. It's nice to see some of our guys doing some good and bringing some positive credit to CPD. I've seen their flyers posted in the district, but never checked them out until I seen some of the comments about their classes posted here. Very professional website and instructor credentials. They obviously must be doing something right as I looked at their members trained page and these guys have had officers from over 200+ agencies attend their courses.

TJ, I noticed they had a section on references avaialble upon request on that page. You may want to contact them for reference information, this way you can contact some of these agencies and see what they say about their training. Just a thought.

I don't doubt that their training is good, but there are lots of good training classes around.
Obviously, Krupa is somewhere with access to SCC on his computer.

You hit the nail on the head. There are a lot of other great training companies out there. It doesn't look like one guy is posting all those comments, but out of curiosity I did visit their website to see what Team Spartan is about, and I was surprised to see that they have a Training Groups Links page and Professional Association Links page that lists dozens of other training companies and organizations across the country!

Some places I never even heard of, but I spent A LOT of time browsing those websites and they also have some very interesting training courses.

I did find it strange that they advertise for so many companies other then themselves. How does someone stay in business by promoting the competition? I guess all those gun guys stick together! Very nice website, though. Lots of links to browse if you are looking for police related training and equipment and their monthly newsletter was neat too.

I agree with what abnrgr said at 5/14/2007 08:09:00 PM. Train, train, train.
