Blago Slapped Around
- Gov. Blagojevich suffered a resounding and stunning defeat [107-0] Thursday when the Illinois House overwhelmingly rejected his proposed $7.6 billion business tax.
But wait! All isn't lost:
- Before the ink had dried on the 107-0 vote, House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) signaled possible interest in launching a different tax-increase proposal.
- At least one member was asked by the speaker within the past week about raising the state income tax. But a Madigan spokesman said the speaker has not settled on a particular tax increase.
Well, gee Mr. Madigan. Thanks for not deciding on a particular tax increase just yet. Isn't your daughter up for governor at some point? Aren't you going to end up being a campaign issue at some point?

Yea, the type of tax increase hasn't been decided yet because there is two weeks left in the legislative session.
I bet there will be a last minute tax increase vote then summer recess.
Things have changed in Cook County. I have been told this by States Attorneys and Corporation Counsels. People, especially juries are much less likely to beleive us. Part of this is a media that slams the police at every opportunity, but much of this is our own fault, thanks to all the corruption and brutality that has gone on over the years. Some may disagree with me, and call me names, but many of our misdeeds have come back ot haunt us.
Hey how about an increase in gasoline tax? Seems no mater how much it goes up, we pay it anyway.
States needs money? How about having the polititians pay for their license plates. It's a start.
