- A teenager was reportedly shot and killed by Chicago police in a West Side alley Monday night.The shooting happened at Roosevelt Road and California Avenue, Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said about 8:30 p.m.The shooting took place in an alley "just north of Roosevelt and west of California," Langford said.
Channel 7, Channel 5, Channel 2, Sun Times and Tribune coverage.
Fox 32 has started with the sensational angle - the video report has the reporter claiming police shot the teen in the back. Supposedly the offender is from Oak Park, hanging out at one of the worst dope spots in the 011th District, so we're sure he was an innocent altar boy, honor student, future doctor and presidential aspirant.
All the cops are OK, though the news won't mention that.

Caught Fox news on this one and reporting was so biased I wanted to slap them. Totally dependant on the citizen's account and of course, the police were wrong no matter what. Thankfully no copper's injured and after spending most of my career in 010 it is business as usual on the west side.
The news also failed to mention all the people in the neighborhood who started a "riot" just before 10pm, throwing bottles at police and at squad cars. The police onscene nearly calling a 10-1, yelling for more cars to assist. Yeah, they're upstanding citizens!! Talking all ghetto on the news , rush right over to the news cameras so they can all be on TV !
The reporting was deplorable. They kept repeating the police shot him in the back and then cuffed him. Oh and by the way the honor student had a gun he pointed at an officer.
Thank GOD the police were OK! The animals are lurking be careful back each other up! It is us against them!

I have no idea where this offender was shot, but even if he were shot in the back that is irrelevent in determining if it was justified or not. Of course police know this but the average citizen reading this has no idea that an offender can be armed and present a sufficient threat to easily justify shooting him in the back. What should we do with an armed assailant, wait until he is facing squarly with us and duel at 20 paces?

Just got home from 3rd watch in 10. A 10-1 ended up being called at the scene of the shooting because the "good citizins" were expressing their grief by throwing bottles at the coppers and busting squad windows. After that we had to rush to Area 4 because a crowd formed there to protest. They shouted "no justice no peace, no racist ass police" for about 15 mins and left to get their drink on. I'm sorry, was there peace in 10th & 11th Dist. before this? I missed it. I love how they run to the cameras to tell what they saw and all of them saw something differant. Some said that he was handcuffed already when they shot him, some said the police told him to run and then shot him. I also heard people saying he was only 15, only 16...umm, he's 18. Are you sure you knew him? The media is loving it. And of course he was a nice repectable boy on his way to college this fall to study engineering and religious studies.

Anger over reported GANG ACTIVITY and other problems in the Dickinson Park area sparked a contentious 2.5 hourlong meeting between police and more than 100 residents.
"You've put this on our plate,"16th District Commander Ralph Price said at the monthly Beat 1624 meeting. "Let us solve it with our resources and working with you. I AM GIVING YOU MORE RESOURCES."
Residents voiced concern at the meeting about what they said was SLOW POLICE RESPONSE TO EMERGENCY CALLS and PROBLEMS OF GRAFFITI AND GANG RECRUITMENT in the park,4101 N. LaVergne Ave. They also reported that there have been a large number of other disturbances near the park,including a recent street brawl,and that teenagers have been loitering in the park's paylot which is restricted to children age 12 and younger.
Commander Ralph Price said that increased patrols are planned for the park and that SEATBELT SAFETY INSPECTIONS may be held near the park in an effort to increase police presence. He said that he will discuss the possibility of installing a SURVEILLANCE CAMERA in the park with the alderman.
COMMUNITY POLICING REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE MAYO'R OFFICE RECOMMENDED THAT RESIDENTS FORM A BLOCK CLUB and THAT THEY WALK AROUND THE PARK shortly before it closes at 9:30PM and report suspicious activity to the police. A Chicago Park District spokeswoman said later that a sign with the closing time of the park is missing but that a new one has been ordered.
Last week the district held an OUTDOOR ROLL CALL in the park,lathough some residents there dismissed the event as a PUBLICITY STUNT. District officials said that more outdoor roll calls are planned for the area,including one which may be held in front of the house of a man who was arrested recently in connection with two incidents near the park.
Also a the meeting,Price responded to accusations THAT THE DISTRICT LACKS SUFFICIENT MANPOWER because one of its two gang teams,each with eight officers and a sergeant if often assigned to violent crime areas in other districts as part of a CITYWIDE EFFORT TO REDUCE THE CITY'S MURDER RATE.
Price said that the Chicago Police Department would be "REMISS" IF IT DIDN'T ASSIGN EXTRA OFFICERS TO HELP SOLVE MURDERS AND THAT THE OFFICERS LEARN VALUABLE INFORMATION ABOUT GANGS WHEN THEY WORK IN OTHER DISTRICTS,HELPING THEM TO INVESTIGATE SIMILAR PROBLEMS IN THE 16th DISTRICT. "I ALWAYS HAVE A GANG TEAM HERE," Price told residents. He added that the district's three tactical teams,each with ten officers and a sergeant assigned,only work in other districts during major events,such as the July 3rd fireworks show.
About a dozen incidents which resulted in police response near the aprk were reported from July1-25,07. Some generated multiple calls to the city's 911 communications center,according to district tactical lieutenant Joseph Shober. In addition about 1,300 calls for police service throughout the beat were reported during the same period.
The distric tis investigating the level of gang activity in the ara,but it is not clear whether gangs played a significant rold in any of the recent incidents which led to arrests near the park,police said.

The actual Chicago Police Department personnel in full-duty status assigned to district manpower,units,the CPD,etc.
In consideration of the riot lastnight in the 11th District requiring hundreds of officers from various districts to quell further violence this needs to be investigated. The quest for the 2016 Olympics will necessitate that the CPD is manned properly. In the event Chicago is granted the Olympics the city will become a prime target for terrorism.

That reporter did a piece of shit on her report. Maybe she was in a media area that was taped off. At least monique bonds didn't show up.
It seems to be fashionable as of late to throw bottles and rocks at the Police when these crowds are told to move on. I've seen it happen several times this summer already. I suggest taking your helmet and whatever other personal tools you may have. Keep it in the trunk but at least have it with you. Better than needing it and not having it because it's in your locker. Be careful out there.

This is the way it came out on zone 10. The first few calls were for assistance because of bottle throwing and large crowds. Then a Sgt. called for calls from neighboring districts. Finally a Sgt came on the air and told the dispatcher to call it a 10-1.

U.S. Department of Defense surplus Army helicopters have been received by the Byron, Countryside and Winthrop Harbor police departments, with assistance from the Illinois Law Enforcement Services Office (LESO) in Springfield. ILEAS has been instrumental in securing funds for specialized equipment for these Bell OH-58 helicopters, and we encourage all agencies within the serviceable regions to learn more about the capabilities being provided by these two organizations.

Something to think about. This kills all the arguments about how expensive it is to get 1 measly helicopter off the ground for Chicago. And they are providing this service free.

August 7, 2007 - Reverend Jesse Jackson plan to call on the Illinois attorney general to investigate the death of a South Side man who was tasered and pepper sprayed by police.
On Saturday, officers responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 8100-block of South Green Street. Investigators say Lula Johnson told them her 42-year-old son Geffery Johnson was damaging her property and she wanted him out of the house. Johnson then reportedly became combative and was tasered twice and pepper sprayed. He died a short time later.
Tuesday morning, Johnson's mother met with Reverend Jackson.
"They killed him right here. A 300 pound man, or more, put his knee on my baby's head, crushed his head," said Lula Johnson, mother.
"This is unacceptable, mean and abusive. Those officers involved in this killing must face the stiff law of justice," said Rev. Jesse Jackson, Operation PUSH.
Chicago Police say a preliminary investigation has determined officers were justified in tasering Johnson.
An autopsy on Johnson indicated further studies needed to be done.

THE DANA STARKS “RACE CARD” SHOW BEGINS
Well Dana STARKS has been the interim Superintendent for not even a week and the “race games” begin in 018!
As many officers know, people working CHA Special Employment now have to stand in the building for the entire shift. There are only 1 or 2 cars assigned to the “Row Houses” in Cabrini Green on any given night. Working a car therefore is considered a premium.
Word has been sent down to the Commander of 018 and the Watch Commanders; “Black officers are not being given the opportunity to work the cars.” Therefore he would like to have “more black officers” assigned to the cars. Perhaps some officers who normally work the 018 “Housing Cars” on their day off and are connected to Starks are ticked off because they aren’t given the opportunity to work the cars. The cars in the past have usually been assigned by the sergeants on a “first come first serve basis” or if the WC has his regular 018 district people/detectives/other favorites work them.
SPREAD THE WORD out to other officers working CHA. See if they can get the sergeants to admit if they are being given this information. Also, just see for themselves if there is a change in who is getting the car assignments.
At this point I’m not sure a complaint can be lodged. The best thing is that this guy has not been told to put his name in the hat for Superintendent. He would put the department back 20 years with this race garbage.

Police accused of damaging Tribune photographer's cameras

The Chicago Police Department is investigating allegations that an officer seized and damaged a Tribune photographer's cameras Monday night at the scene of a police-involved shooting that turned into an unruly public demonstration.
The Internal Affairs Division is investigating how Tribune staff photographer Terrence Antonio James' two Canon cameras were severely damaged while he was covering the fatal shooting of Aaron Harrison, 18, in the North Lawndale neighborhood at about 10 p.m., police spokeswoman Monique Bond said.
While James was taking photographs of officers entering a building in the 2900 block of West Roosevelt Road, from which bottles had been thrown at police and their vehicles, one officer allegedly ordered him to leave the scene. Standing on the public way, James said, he continued to take pictures and told the officer he was a working member of the news media.
At that point, the officer knocked one of his cameras to the pavement, destroying it, he said. The other was taken from him and thrown down the block, James said. Police later recovered the thrown camera about 30 feet away.
Police said this afternoon they did not know the identity of the officer involved, but James gave a physical description of the man. Photographs taken by James seconds before the incident show numerous police officers present, and determining if they were witnesses will be part of the investigation, Bond said.
"Terrence James is an experienced, professional news photographer who was trying to do his job," said George de Lama, the Tribune's managing editor for news. "He did nothing to deserve this kind of treatment from the police. Terrence complained to police supervisors at the scene last night, and we fully support him through this process."

Get "Da Community" together, get some jobs, even flipping burgers. Buy some brooms and wood. Clean up all the chip bags and pop cans laying around. Lay down some sod. Wash off your windows, knock down boarded up buildings. Start owning your own businesses instead of having the Asians, Middle Easterns and Indians own all the businesses in your neighborhood. I gotta say that I just watched the news and thought he gave an excellent interview. He said that the people on the street wrongly reacted to misinformation, and that they did not have the whole story, and that the officers appeared to have done what they are trained to do when in fear for their lives.

Where to begin?
First off, these animals are just that, animals! It does not pay to go out there and work anymore. The city and the bosses will hang you out to dry to satisfy these non working parasites. I remember when we were allowed to go out there and be the police and the bosses would back us up 100%, not any more. The only people that are going to get backed from these bosses are the animals so screw it don’t do anything. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing but respect for the working police, but, as fate would have it, most of our bosses now have never been the working police so they have no idea what we go through out there. If you want to work go to an area where the people actually pay taxes and deserve police service. Let the animal keep his gun and dope because the only people that will get hurt and killed are other animals. It’s that simple. This mutt would have either killed another animal or robbed some liberal, either way society would be a bit better for it.
Secondly, the media! The media fans this hatred of the police so why are their trucks and cars given passes? Unfortunately, I work a different watch, but if I were on midnights I would be hammering their delivery trucks. When I did work midnights their trucks committed numerous traffic violations in plain view of the police while trying to make their deliveries. Some I stopped and wrote and some got passes. However, in view of the fact that the news media has essentially declared war on us I believe we should return the favor. Let’s hammer their trucks. Write the drivers and where warranted tow the vehicles. After they have to go to 103rd and Doty to get their vehicles a couple of times they will start getting the message. We don’t write the laws, we just enforce them! Let them write about us then.

Probably one of the finest street coppers in existence, Dave was in more shit before breakfast than any copper I ever knew. He was in probably 18 or 20 shootings in his career, had thousands of felony arrests and once told First Deputy John Townsend that he (Snethen) was the second deputy, which then cost Snethen his spot in SOG. Snethen made Sergeant a few years ago and late last year or early this year, killed a pizza delivery stickup man two days before he retired.
I think you might owe Dave an apology, kid. Snethen was always the working police, rain, shine or snow. Dave was probably just sick at the poor attitude shown here too often.

If the CPD is to be more respected and better appreciated I can hardly see where calling for us to ignore calls for service because they [the “savages”] don’t “deserve it” will achieve that goal. Eugene Williams wasn't moved out of Narcotics due to any womanizing;
Williams has never resorted to that sort of activity at any time during his career. He was booted out on a squeeze play by his then boss, Cline, and left floundering in 015 for about 4 years. Even then, he managed to do well there, and was well liked and respected by the officers and citizens in the Austin District.
