Another Thank You
Dear SCC,
On behalf of the Mike Mette Defense Fund Committee I want to thank you for keeping everyone informed on our fundraising efforts for Officer Mette. Your postings have made a tremendous impact which is being shown through very generous financial contributions and more importantly by the moral support that Mike and his family need at this time. I also want to thank the more than 550 guests that attended Mike's fundraising rally, who traveled through the most adverse weather conditions of the year to support Mike. Many of the guests walked into the banquet hall drenched to the bone while stating " they would not miss this event for anything". It definitely showed the true character of the fine men and woman working for the Chicago Police Department, by not letting one of their own down! The majority of the crowd Thursday night was made up of current and former police officers who either knew Mike or his dad. But I know that there was also that majority who probably did not know either, but just believe in the fact that Mike is getting railroaded and want to help. Well of all you did just that, you were there for Mike and his family who were overwhelmed with the turnout and your support! For that I salute all of you. I have read many of the blogs/posted comments on your site here in which many readers are critical of the Alderman, Mayor and others politicians, who never step up to vocally support an officer in need and especially when one is being unjustly put in prison such as Mike. We have been waiting for several politicians to answer our requests to intercede on behalf of Mike, but our requests have gone unanswered or in the case of one Illinois Senator's camp who I will call DOUBLE D, stated " that it was something they did not want to get into at this time". Well Mr. Senator my question to you is at what time would you want to get into it, when Mike has served 2 out of the 5 years, 4 out of the 5 years. I know one thing SCC, that when it election time again, I do not believe that it will be this Senator's time either and he will not get my vote! I urge all of you not to vote for this guy either. Our cause for Mike has never been about been about politics, it has always been to get Mike cleared of this great injustice. We are not Democratic nor Republican, we are a group of supporters of Mike Mette looking for proper justice through the help of influential politicians who could help us. We have received the support of Cook County States Attorney Dick Devine, Alderman Bernie Stone and Patrick O' Connor who were at the function, as well as Alderman Tom Tunney who sent in a donation and Cook County Commissioner Tony Peraica who has communicated with our committee. There should be many more elected officials stepping up to the plate for Mike, calling for a judicial inquiry into Dubuque PD's refusal to allow Mike to sign complaints against his attacker, the court system which allowed Mr. Gothard to opening speak in court against Marc Mette, Mike's brother, who unjustly received 4 days in jail on a public intoxication charge, when others paid a small fine. The entire Dubuque County court system is a sham and needs to be investigated. So in closing SCC if there are any heavy hitting politicians who read this blog and want to show their constituents, what they are really made of, please give us a call or email us! For Mike the time is now!
Once again thanks for your support SCC and to those men and woman of the CPD.

We are all rooting for Mike and look forward to him coming back to the CPD where he belongs.
Suggestion,
Would it be helpful if we ALL waged an e-mail campaign to CNN and respectfully expressed interest in viewing the Anderson Cooper interview with Officer Mike Mette?
I don't want to do anything without clearance from Mike. I can't see it hurting and the clock is ticking quickly, the quicker the story gets national exposure the more likely justice will occur. I think that the CNN story will also draw interest from additional national media groups and really expose this horrendous injustice to Mike.
2ND FUNDRAISING RALLY
For those who missed the first Mike Mette Defense Fund Rally, because of the adverse weather conditions or travel distance a second Mike Mette Defense Fund Rally will be held at the FOP Hall 1412 W. Washington Blvd, Chicago IL on Friday September 28th, 2007 from 6:00-11:00 p.m. Tickets which can be purchased at the door are $20.00 each and includes liquid refreshments and pizza. Raffle tickets will be sold that night and the lucky winner will be taking home a BIG SCREEN PLASMA TV. We hope to see you there!
