First up, the past 48 hours have seen at least half a dozen, maybe as many as ten current and former SOS officers stripped for the most recent bar video. That has to be the most efficient investigation in the history of the Department - everyone's guilty, so everyone gets stripped. Nothing like tossing due process overboard when the heat is too much.
Second, we hear merit nominations are out for Lieutenant. Since they've screwed up the most recent exam for the THIRD time in a row, we can only deduce that they are taking a last set of names from the old list. Starks must want to get his "mericloutorious" choices in while he has the power. We can hardly wait for the picks.

The department needs no due process to strip you- as long as you are getting paid your full salary. The City of Chicago has the right to take away powers they confer on you. They do not need due process.
You are an employee with Police Powers that are conferred upon you by the city. They only need to provide due process for severe discipline and termination.

You can expect a new lieutenants class in about two periods. Bet on it. The proof. One name on the transfer order released Friday, 10/05/07. Kenny Boudreau. Merit sgt, and world class kiss ass. Assigned to Asset Forfieture as the commanding officer with a take home car, he was transferred out of that unit to 008. That way when he's made a merit lieutenant it looks like he came from the Patrol Division, not 35th Street. It's beautiful the way they do that. Did the same thing with Steve Caluris when he was a sgt about three years ago. He was assigned to 35th Street and was transferred to Bomb and Arson. Then two months later he magically makes lieutenant from a "field" unit. If merit promotions are so legit, why the bullshit transfers? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

SOS has been a problem unit since it's inception. Even when it was called SOG. Instead of disbanding the unit, they changed the name to SOS. Same bullshit, different name. They should disband it completely along with worthless TRU. Put these cops back on the street in the districts. You have tact and gang teams in the districts doing the same trivial arrests as the TRU unit. Screw the cameras, the CAPS program, TRU and SOS. Put the cops back where they are needed, in patrol. Then the jobs can be handled and the overworked district cops can finally breathe. Smoke and mirrors should be the motto on the police patches. That is all the department does. The ship may have been sinking 5 years ago, but now it is sunk and at the bottom of the ocean. Since Daley took office all he has done is screwed up this department beyond repair. It will take years and years to put this department back together again when Richie is finally done coming up with ideas that just keep screwing up this department more and more. He only gives a shit about how to get votes. He doesn't give a rats ass about the safety of the police or the city. At least His dad, Jane Byrne, and Harold Washington gave half a shit about the police department. Richie only gives a shit about himself, his relatives and his connected friends. If in fact the new lieutenant’s exam is thrown out, a class action lawsuit should be filed to recover the $25.00 that everyone paid. ($25 x 740 Sergeants = $18,500)
PLUS all the money some of us dumb-asses paid for study groups; for Bernstein and Roberts that total is over $1500 a person.
Insiders down at Legal Affairs on the 5th floor state that in the future, Lieutenants will be chosen just as Captains are.
The question is, would the city have to pay each member in the lieutenants union a “payoff” of say $5,000 each to agree to this. About 10 years ago, this is what they did to the remaining “real” civil service Captains. In the end, the city may look at this as a savings in the future. They would not have to pay hundreds of thousands to develop and administer any exams.
HOWEVER, to say the least it would destroy morale and give us a total of at least 260 suck ass - company men.

Making Boudreau a Lt. would be the worst mistake the exempts could ever do. Boudreau has made life MISERABLE for anyone unfortunate to work for him since he got dumped from his "grace spot" of being the overall supervisor of Asset Forfeiture to being just a regular AF Team Sgt. Someone beefed, and the unit FINALLY put a Lt. in his spot, where one should have been FOR YEARS!! Of course, the plan is most likely to make Boudreau a Lt. and then return his sorry, unhappy ass back to the unit, where he'll have the bars to fuck over even more people who will be toiling under Mr. Grumpy.

I don't know how Kenny b. is as a sergeant or as the c/o of A/F unit, but he was one of the best dicks to ever work Old Area 3 and Area 1. He, his partners J.H., O'B, and Capt. G.C. solved more murders then anyone they got up there now. When an Officer in 002, 021, 007, 008 or 009 stepped in shit or was involved in a shooting, you breathed a sigh of relief when you saw that crew pull up. Like I said, I don't know how he is as a sergeant, but he was the real police as a homicide detective. I've been out of 007 for a couple of years, I'm sure J.H. & O'B have slowed down, that comes with multiple federal lawsuits for locking up murderers of innocent victims and of police officers.

Don't count on it, that had nothing to do with their status as captains and everything to do with the contract being negotiated and it had more to do with OT etc. Plus, they haven't eliminated the LT rank like they did the captains back then...
Also, the LT's did get the same amount of $ upon signing the first contract, it just had to be split more ways...
Don't worry about investigations. There aren't enough FBI agents in the U.S. to investigate all the nonsense in this city. They can't even touch Daley!

I've never lied, and I don't know why those guys lied...stupidity I guess. There are a lot of really good policemen and women out there I'm lucky enough to have had excellant partners who were a wealth of knowledge and that may have been key in this situation, a big part of the problem with clout moves is that young coppers are teamed up together in units or plain clothes details (gang/tac) with no real idea what they are doing and that may lead to poor decisions, I've stayed in a beat car my whole career and have never tried to go anywhere else besides through tests because I think there is to much pressure from the powers that be to make arrests and what everyone needs to remember is that this job works for me not the other way around I make arrests for court time not to pad anyones stats...correction made arrests. Let me say this though just because your young and in a unit doesn't mean you lie, I'm just speculating. I have to let you know though because I believe you are an ASA, there are certain things that we look for and bring to light in our case reports which may make it seem repetative(sp) such as a "drop case" but just to let you know that they are trained to throw the dope and deny,deny,deny...if its not in their pocket we "put that case" on them, ask for a ride along in the ghetto you'll be suprised how repetative the people are.OH AND ALSO WE ARE PAID WHETHER THEY GO TO JAIL OR NOT.
Boudreau, one of the "best" dicks??? That clown has had more murder convictions overturned and thrown out because of false confessions than other detective on this department. Get real! His bullshit on paper is well known, so much so the State's Attorney's office is glad that lying asshole is longer involved in Homicide Investigations. Hate to disappoint you but when the 005th District Commander made lieutenant, the scores from the 2002 lt exam had already been received. Although those scores and the rank order from 2002 were out, they still promoted from the test prior to the 2002 test. Sorry to disappoint you!

That's not true!
Boudreau was dangerous as a detective. He has gotten murder "confessions" from people it was later learned were in Cook County at the time of the murders. People that DNA later ruled out as offenders. People whose confessions did not match the evidence that later identified someone else who then gave a real confession(to cold case dicks). The papers ran a story a few months ago about a guy who confessed to a brutal rape of a nurse in the duece getting released from prison. The story named Boudreau as lead detective. DNA identified someone else as the offender. Ask anyone who worked in the old Area 3 about Boudreau. Ask an older asa about him. Ask the corporation counsels office about him. You would not find to many people with good things to say about him.

SHE'S right. Rellinger worked that three man car with Mike Fleming and Rich Houlihan. The three of them are as stand-up as they come!!
SGTS WHO TOOK THE LAST LT EXAM. LOOK AT YOUR NOTICE THAT SAID YOU PASSED THE FIRST PART. IT SAYS THAT PASSING SCORE PUTS YOU ON THE "MERIT ELIGIBLE LIST".
THAT'S IT; ONCE WE PASSED THE FIRST PART, A NEW 2006 MERIT ELIGIBLE LIST WAS CREATED. EVERYONE WHO PASSED THE FIRST PART OF THE LAST EXAM SHOULD BE ELIBIBLE FOR MERIT. THEY MAY EXCLUDE US AND GO BACK TO THE 2002 LIST FOR MERIT, BUT IT DOESN'T MAKE IT RIGHT.
