No Room at the Inn
- Cook County's morgue is still full -- months after a woman's body went missing for more than a day only to be found behind a larger body. When the morgue briefly lost the body of Rosalie Schultz in June officials said the cooler was at its capacity of 250 bodies. But the situation hasn't improved.
- Morgue officials say that as, of late September, the cooler held 258 bodies -- including 13 that had been there since 2006. Chief medical examiner Nancy Jones blames a slow economy, saying some families don't have enough money to bury their loved ones.
In related news:
- U.S. employers added 110,000 jobs in September and August's job losses were revised into a gain in a Labor Department report on Friday that lifted some worry about a recession in the near term.
- Stocks closed their first week of the fourth quarter at a record, and the potential for corporate profits to beat reduced expectations as results start coming in next week may keep the rally alive.
We certainly hope the Chief Medical examiner of Cook County is better at pronouncing corpses than she is at announcing a "slow economy" is keeping people from burying their dead. What a dumb ass.

Last time ive seen this many stiffs I was at an Al Gore seminar
Hmmm, the morgue is overcrowded? Send the stiffs to Sam's club; all their hamburger was recalled for ecoli!
The Keesing Bandit says---
Methinks that the real reason those bodies are still at the morgue is that the relatives are not willing to give up their daily allotment of crack cocaine, hot cheetos, and grape pop to pull the money together to bury their "loved one".
"They'll be OK right there. We'll get to it when we have time."
Now, kees me you fool!!!
Why not do cremation? Why be a warehouse? Burning is cheap.
Well as long as they're still here they might as well vote
Reporter: "officer what do you think of that situation at the morgue?"
Officer:"It stinks!"
Walked into the morgue the other day thought I was at a city council meeting...a lot of dead meat. That you Troutman?
Did some sniffing around on that morgue being overcrowded...and somethings definitely fishy! (sniff, sniff)
I have an E2 one but...oh I couldn't
This ones cheesy...COOK COUNTY MORGUE PEOPLE ARE JUST DYING TO GET IN!
Funny thing about death, its the only thing we've all got in common

Since the City of Chicago gives away free money to everyone but its own employees.....Why doesn't the City pay for all burials?
People only care about a loved one when they are shot by the police!
Maybe some of them could be employed as dummies in radar cars.
How about a $10.00 co-pay for cremation; just like the prescription co-pay at County Hospitals?
slow economy it ain't, help wanted signs in every business. why work when the govenment pays you not to!
FYI, 110,000 new jobs is a shitty number. 150k+ is needed every month to keep up with population growth.
Let's make Soilent Green.
jones ain't dumb, she's just one of the few non-stroger folks left at the ME's and obviously was biting her lip when asked for comment. have any of you been there lately and seen a) how understaffed they are and b) how those who are there don't know dick about the process -- they're just stroger/beavers hacks.
Build krema #2 and krema #3
I don't know if Palumbo is still there, but if he is put him in charge, he could run the morgue better than any of them ever could!! Thank You!!!!!!!!1
