Gee, seems everyone still has strong opinions about the infamous SWAMPI debacle (SouthWest Airlines Midway Photography Incident). From the comments:
- Yeah scc, it almost feels like you know her and have some kind of vendetta against her and are trying to get her in trouble. She made a bad decision, which i could easily see myself making. It's a frickin plane on Cicero ave... how often does that happen? So you take a pic, what's the big deal.
First up, it's Central Avenue, not Cicero. And we have no objection to taking a picture of the event. But posing in front of the plane with the pancaked car in the background - a car in which a little boy died - is obscene.

did you expect him not to get promoted? what about the child molester who was finally indicted by the feds? the exempt rank boy! What about trigg he was fired for peeing hot many times but he stated to keep it pg friendly "I was with my girlfriend I went down and she had drugs in her system that transferred to mine they bought the bullshit due to clout and shazam he was back in exempt rank! how many more clouted exempts did major shit but remain on the job? just name them!

Posing for the pictures was not the real problem. Posting the pictures on the internet was not the greatest brainstorm that the poster ever had. I’m not sure that the poster and the attractive Chris Hitney were really one in the same. No, I’ve never been offended by these pictures that don’t show blood, bodies or gore. A mountain was made out of a molehill here. On the other hand this story brought out mixed opinions and was fair game for fun and satire. I’m not sure that there was not some personal vendetta involved with the most vocal of Hitney’s critics.
The photoshopping images of Hitney were pure fun and she should take the ribbing in stride. I’d like to see her cash in on the fun. Yes I want more pictures of Hitney and I’d like to see them on T-shirts and such. If I had the original high-resolution artwork I’d work out a deal with Café Press to sell the shirts on my blog!
In light of some of the pending criminal accusations against far too many of our fellow coppers I’d like to hope we can return to the days when the biggest departmental controversy was a few pictures of a delightful looking lady copper in front of a crashed airplane

Scc, I'm all for a little ribbing but I really don't think she was celebrating the death of a child. More likely it was the anomaly of an airplane in the middle of the street that made her want to pose in front of that mess. I do love those photoshop pics, though!
I'll say it for you SCC, to those of you who feel the need to defend this bitch from comments posted and some hilarious pictures shown here, go fuck yourselves sideways! Sure officers can be callus at times, we see shit all the time, but imagine if that were your kid killed and this bitch's photo (which never should've been taken) appears in the newspaper with her grinning as if she were standing next to the Grand Canyon and not the site of your child's demise all while the body of your baby isn't even cold yet. Things would look a little different to you guys then wouldn't it? Fuck her and fuck you! SCC, I completely agree with you and I think that you are 100% justified in making a mockery of her. It's one thing to take pictures of a plane on Central Ave, and another to take pictures of yourself, in uniform, in front of the plane and car where a child died. I can't even imagine how those parents felt to have been in the car with their family, have a plane come at them and run into their car, and then realize that their son has been crushed by that plane. On top of all that, a police officer has the fucking nerve to pose in front of the accident scene. She deserves everything you dish out to her.

Was at the academy the day after the plane slid onto Central. a PO was showing pics from the scene, some with POs posing, to the recruits. Teaching them well on how to always carry a camera or get on e on their phone.

By the way, what happened to the sgt who committed domestic battery on two female recruits while assigned to the academy? Two case reports with enough evidence for arrest but his clout protected him. A certain former boss (WS) protected him despite the evidence and potential threats to other female recruits. He was a bonified predator but now in ERPS. Without clout he would be gone. Amazing how far exempts will go to protect those with clout.

i love the smell of whine in the morning.
When you look at all the clouted bosses who have gotten away with crimes it's appalling. Then take into account all the people who are allowed to slide on the medical, drug testing, you name it because these goofy white shirts protecting their minions/clout bunnies. This job needs federal oversight in the worst way. There is no credibility as long as Daley and his criminal buddies run this department.
And no I don't lose any sleep over it.
It is none of our business what happened to her punishment wise. Just like it is no ones's business what happens to you, whether you are merit or not.
She used poor judgement and is is being properly criticized for it. Remember, though, you could be next.
That is what all you wannabe cops seem to forget. Each and every one of us could do something stupid- and we all have- and get caught.
