Chicago stands in “third or fourth place” in the race for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games and it’ll take Chicago-style politicking—including more involvement by the private sector--to turn that around, the chairman of the U.S. Olympic Committee said Thursday.
Peter Ueberroth stressed that he’s not being critical of Chicago 2016. He’s simply stating the “irrefutable facts” as he sees them—and has delivered the same message directly to Mayor Daley.
The more we see of this bid process, the more we remember how crooked it really is. Which would make Chicago a natural for winning the whole thing.
But then we remember, the entire purpose of the Daley/Stroger/Blago criminal enterprise isn't to get the Olympics - it's to get their connected friends and relatives rich via taxpayer dollars. So all of this designing a new logo, lake front construction, McCormick Place expansion and such is likely smoke screen to hand out a bunch of contracts to the chosen few.
It all makes sense.

The mayor isn't thinking consciously about contracts for his friends. He's thinking about the ego trip of the Olympics in Chicago. That is, he views the city as an extension of himself - it will be his prestige. And of course it will benefit the city. He and his cronies are the city, in their minds. They aren't capable of recognizing that their private gains are distinct from the interest of the average Chicagoan. In other words, they don't even know when they're stealing.

Let me see here... they can pick from other countries where the weather is better, the drive by shootings dont happen, governements that can drop large cash envelopes and all the sex they want courtesy of the sponsering country. Chicago, NOT!
Lets be honest, a Internation event as important as the Olympics will not be held on the SOuth side of the city where shootings haapen every night, ghetto rats begging from everyone or robbing them and where nobody can walk freely unless there is a cop or armed to the teeth security officer is posted every 5 feet.
Daley knows this, but only put us in the running so a bunch of people will start buying up the southside ghetto town and rebuild. And so all his connected friends can make MILLIONS of dollars off trying to get the Olympics.

There is a 117 million budget gap (at least), talk of raising property taxes, food taxes, pop and bottled water taxes, vehicle (city sticker) tax...WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE YOU SHEEPLES? WHERE?

What I find most amusing is that with all the heavyhitters, time and money going into getting the Olympics to Chicago, their initial attempt at the "symbol" for the Olympic committee violated the official Olympic trademark flame. Jesus, the first time I saw it I wondered how they got permission to use the Olympic flame.
Apparently, not only did they not get permission, they didn't even realize using the flame was a no-no.
Now that's really fucking dumb.
What the hell. Mayor Daley is incapable of running even one honest promotional test. What makes anyone think that this disfunctional mental case could put together what it takes to host the olympics?
