And of Course....

Cubs lose.

On the other hand, those 100 year anniversary celebrations ought to be a great time!

I hate the cubs just as much as any other Sox fan but its only one game. Lets not get ahead of ourselves. Once the final out has been caught we can then start slamming them. That way Ozzie lnows when to make room for Lou on his couch so they can watch the World Series together.

Of course the excuses start immediately. "Wahhh, they pulled Zambrano too early." News flash: he was losing when he was taken out.

He pitched a great game, how about some blame on the lack of run support. Nothing on Mr. big bucks Soriano going 0-5.

Did you see the guy behind homeplate lighting up that Cubs sign? Hillarious!! There's your 2007 playoff scapeGOAT. Figures a Cubs fan would resort to cheating to win a game. Still The "Lovable LOSERS"! You can shine a turd all you want but in the end it's still a turd.

Let me see Cub Fans , Can you spell that old, old familiar word that all Cub Fans should know how to spell . It's not "GOAT" , it's not "BARTMAN" . It's C H O K E !
and that old, old familiar saying . Wait until next year . That comes after CHOKE. The White Sox may have ended up in 4th place this year but they did it in 2005. Your Cubs will never do it. If you don't go all the way to the World Series and win. You are just as bad as the other 28 teams that didn't make it. So Cub Fans , R.I.P. MAGIC # is 2

An influential alderman demanded Wednesday that Mayor Daley hire at least 100 new police officers and bolster sanitation services to justify a $193 million tax wallop.

To soften the blow of higher taxes, Daley is planning to hire 50 more police officers at a cost of $4.1 million and spend $1 million to install 100 more surveillance cameras in high-crime areas.

Mayor Daley offered some cuts to ease budget pain but they only amount to $8 million.

Suburban-style curbside recycling would be expanded to 211,000 households at a cost of $6.7 million. Tree trimming would get an extra $2 million.

That's not enough to appease Police Committee Chairman Isaac Carothers (29th).

Normally one of Daley's staunchest City Council supporters, Carothers is threatening to withhold his vote from Daley's request for a $108 million property tax increase unless the police hiring is doubled in response to a wave of shootings that have claimed the lives of Chicago Public Schools students.

"We've had a lot of marches, rallies and prayer vigils. But we haven't hired more police. The rubber band is stretched too far. Hiring 50 police is like taking a thimbleful of water out of Lake Michigan," he said.

-----------------------------------

Thanks for the 50 more Ike, but that still isn't nearly enough.

You want more PO's on the street? Try cleaning out all the housemouse jobs. That would free up hundreds of PO's there!

Why did Ald. Edward M. Burke vote to approve Tony Rezko’s plans to develop the South Loop’s biggest piece of vacant land even as he was working for Rezko on that same deal?

Burke says: I forgot to abstain.

The much-conflicted alderman says he meant to sit out the vote. He’d even sent a letter to the Chicago Board of Ethics in August 2003 saying he would abstain from any Council votes on Rezko’s plan to put as many as 5,000 homes and stores on a 62-acre site along the Chicago River at Roosevelt Road.

But then Rezko’s project came before the City Council on March 31, 2004, and Burke cast his vote — in favor.

“An error occurred,” the alderman said in a written response to questions, “and Rule 14 was not invoked.”

-----------------------------------

And they still let this asshat carry a star and provide him with bodyguards and heavy weapons?

He is a disgrace to the uniform!

Off Topic but rather valid point:
We are forced to submit urine samples in order to maintain our duty status as drug free employees. I have no beef with that. We get paid, and taxed, every two weeks. Again, cool. Here's where I loose my cool. Those taxes are going to people who don't have to submit a urine sample in order to receive that free money. Does this make sence?

Coppers must be drug free and work to earn their pay but link folks can use our money to buy dope, booze and smokes? I'm not saying we should allow coppers to get high but the system is broken.

Submit samples for checks. Pee hot, receive check...NOT!!!

Just a thought. I'm sure the city would probably rather have us high than require the poor to pee in a cup. That would be humiliating.

Off subjet. Peter Ubberoth stated Chicago shouldn't be to confident abotu getting the olympics. We are 3rd or 4th behind Paris, tokyo and Madrid. No say it ain't so. not with the modern technology the police department has, the modern equipment, the heavy weapons that are available, the fleet of fine vehicles and the emergency plans in place. Plus the up to date PDT's and radios we use. Oh damn sorry that was in the dream I had last night. Screw you King Richie, aka Adolph Hitler. But on the bright side we will have 100 more cameras in the city. If Luberman makes Superintendent I won't be surprised. In fact i wouldn't be surprised if he made Jakes, the Rev. Jesse or Pfleger Superintendent. Hell why not make Monique Bond the boss. That way she can write her own speeches. Oh God how I need to retire from this circus. Maybe I'll see if I can make a lateral move to Mayberry. I heard Barney Fife's spot is open.

OFF TOPIC:

Two retired cops killed and and a third shot in armed robbery.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- A robber shot and killed two armored car guards servicing an ATM outside a bank early Thursday, authorities said. Several schools were locked down amid a massive manhunt for the gunman.

One man fatally shot the Loomis guards shortly after 8 a.m. outside a Wachovia bank in northeast Philadelphia, police Commissioner Sylvester Johnson said.

The victims, Joseph Allullo, 50, and William Widmaier, 65, were retired from the city's police department, where they had served more than two decades, and were lifelong friends, Johnson said.

A surveillance tape showed the robber getting out of his car and putting on gloves before he shot one guard who was removing cash from the automated teller machine, Johnson said. The gunman then went around the armored car and shot the second guard as the victim tried to unholster his gun, police said.

"There was no physical contact at all. There was just firing, it was an assassination," Johnson said.

Police initially said they were looking for four suspects, but Johnson said it appeared there was only one robber. Police had no explanation for the discrepancy.

Mark Clark, a Loomis spokesman, said a third guard, the driver, was grazed by shattered glass as the robber tried to shoot through the armored car. He was treated for lacerations and released from a hospital.

Authorities did not release the name of the guard who survived but said he was 69.

What a shame that these guys just trying to make a few extra dollars working after retirement that some asshole can come along and kill them. My prayers to their families, friends and co-workers.

As a Sox fan with compassion, I hope the Cubs do well and at least get to the World Series, even if they don't win it. But as a person with common sense, I have to wonder if the Cubs can bounce back and beat Arizona. If they do, I think they'll show us what they're made of. If they don't then Cubs fans should stop going to their games next year until they start proving themselves to be contenders. It worked for us Sox fans. Blind faith (and blind allegiance) has given Cubs fans nothing but heartache for 99 years. Wise up, folks. Quit throwing your good money into a bottomless pit.

Bears Linebacker Briggs update:

Thursday, Briggs pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a property damage accident, which is a Class A misdemeanor, and to failure to immediately report an accident. For the misdemeanor he received one year of supervision and 15 days community service.

Briggs was also ordered to pay a $485 fine. The judge said the court could have imposed a larger fine, but chose to give a typical fine for such offenses.

From FOP Grand lodge...

The Fraternal Order of Police is the world's largest organization of sworn law enforcement officers, with more than 324,000 members in more than 2,100 lodges. We are the voice of those who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving our communities. We are committed to improving the working conditions of law enforcement officers and the safety of those we serve through education, legislation, information, community involvement, and employee representation. No one knows the dangers and the difficulties faced by today's police officers better than another officer, and no one knows police officers better than the FOP.

If it's true that Daley has 22 police officers assigned as his personal lackys, figuring at a modest average salery of 75,000, it costs Chicago tAxpayers ONE MILLION, SIX HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS per year...Thats about TEN MILLION DOLLARS every six years!!!!!!!to pander to this egomaniac's wishes. That really sucks, but I can honestly say I know how you feel. The Phillies are down in the series against the Rockies 2-0.

Jesus, there's got to be ONE team in Philly that can bring home the big prize. WTH.

People here say they're happy that the Phils even made the playoffs. Screw that shit. I want them to win it all (I'm greedy).

SEISER SAYS: THE DIAMONDBACKS WILL BEAT THE CUBS, GREEN BAY WILL KILL THE BEARS, AND RUDY GUILIANI WILL BE OUR NEXT PRESIDENT. REMEMBER WHATS SEISER SAYS WILL HAPPEN BECAUSE HE STILL RUNS IT.

GOOD JOB STATE TROOPERS????
Briggs got what he wanted...he fled the scene of the crash, and in doing so, he avoided being DUI'd, fingerprinted and photo'd. Diappeared, sobered up, eventually surfaced well over 5 hrs. after the accident occurred. A four hundred plus dollar fine? A pittance for the man. He paid a small piece of his financial windfall to escape a potential felony. Hopefully, he learned from this one. Time will tell.

WHY ARE COPPERS GIVING AWAY THEIR FOP STICKERS & MEDALLIONS TO THEIR FRIENDS (ANONYMOUS, 04 OCT, 2:56AM)? IT'S NO WONDER THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO VALUE NOW. WHY WOULD YOUR FRIEND MENTION YOUR NAME WHEN HE SCREWED UP? IF THAT'S YOUR IDEA OF A "FRIEND," YOU CAN KEEP HIM ALL TO YOURSELF.
SOUNDS LIKE HE'S GETTING MORE MILEAGE OUT OF THE "FRIENDSHIP" THAN YOU ARE!

There was a PPO awhile back in the academy who actually was selling the FOP medallions on e-bay (while still a recruit at the academy), the FOP came down and talked to him but basicly couldn't stop him.

Thank God we actually have one tradition that is 100 years old. Looks like it will be around for another 100 so my great-great grand children will be able to celebrate in 2107.

At the rate they are going the Sox will have there own non-win celebration in 2105.
