IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FYI!

It seems that the Chicago Patrolmen's Federal Credit Union is unable to get their night depository box open. So if you've made a deposit at the main branch within the last week or so and it hasn't shown up in your account, that may be why.

Does the Credit Union cover bounced checks?

I accidentally dropped my Al's beef sandwich in the night deposit box when I placed my deposit envelope in it. Hope that didn't cause the problem!

Mayor Daley's right hand man got a litle confused. He was ordered to stuff the BALLOT BOX with Obama votes and accidentally overstuffed the deposit box by mistake. So much for carrying the cash envelopes with the phoney ballots.

Attn P.O.'s: Before choosing the credit union for ANYTHING, shop around. The rates that they are giving us are ridiculous. Also, the credit union likes to promise you one rate, then turn around and give you a worse rate, blaming credit issues.

They are just as bad as these fly by night mortgage brokers.

Officers beware: When securing a loan for housing, the credit union uses an independant mortgage broker named John Aretos. HE IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

He is a close personal friend of the CEO Scott Arentz. Another scumbag banker. He makes it look like we should be lucky to get a loan through his bank. This is not LaSalle Bank, this is our credit union, to serve the members of this credit union.

Make sure you put everything in writing. Read the contract before signing it. They verbally tell you one thing, and hand you a contract saying another.

If there is a small bank around you, shop there. These small banks are few and far between, but they do like your business. Check out their rates. Finally, if you have a summer home in a small town, get financing through one of these small town banks, they're dying for a steady income customer like a P.O. Don't limit banking to Chicago Banks!

Take your money out of the Credit Union!!! Use ING Direct. www.ingdirect.com They have a an interest rate over 4 percent. No minimum balance, No fees and No hassles. It's easy to transfer money to and from your existing checking account online.
It's worth a look.
Great for savings.

i agree with 3:25 pm. Use ING direct instead of the credit union. 4% interest rate with ing as opposed to the measley 1% (if you're lucky) that you get from the credit union. just like the ing account with a checking account you already have. then you just transfer money between the two. its that simple.

Could not agree with you more about how the credit union operates. It is OUR credit union, but they act like they are doing you a favor by giving out loans. It was totally different when it was run by policemen, but ever since this new CEO has been there it has been straight downhill. Too many former FOP bigwigs sit on the Board. Even Nolan's old secretary landed over there. Look for a good, local, small bank. Much better service and rates.

FOP Update
LOG numbers VS CR NUMBERS 01/08/08

On January 2nd, the Department sent out a fax message, #3080033, which directed Watch Commanders to obtain a “log number” for incidents of weapons discharge, taser incidents, suicides and attempted suicides for persons in custody. In this directive, a reference was made to Department Notice 06-37 which addresses the Automated Complaint System, causing great concern and confusion throughout the Lodge and the Department.

On January 3rd, our concerns were presented to the Department who admitted errors in this new directive but who failed to take action to rectify or rescind the directive. On January 4th the Lodge sent a letter to the Department informing them that based upon their new directive, the Lodge would not permit an officer involved in a shooting to participate in the “round table” process. Within 3 hours after sending this notice to the Department, we received a call from them expressing a desire to discuss a means of resolution to this problem. At that time we were able to work out language that would be temporarily acceptable for the “round table” process. Further discussion resulted in the scheduling of a meeting with the Department on January 7th at which all of the concerns of the Lodge were addressed.

Later that day, the Department sent out a fax message #80109 which rescinded the January 2nd fax, and fax #80110 which contained the language that was acceptable to the Lodge. We would like to stress that the issuance of a log number alone does not initiate a CR# nor is it an allegation of any misconduct. It is merely a tracking system for investigations that the City had initiated, without informing the Lodge.

We hope this incident further emphasizes the position we have taken forever and that is that the Department needs to get this Lodge involved in the implementation of their policies and procedures prior to rolling them out to their Department Members.

CROWN POINT, Ind. -- A judge has dropped charges against a Gary man who sparked a police chase in which an officer died in a crash between two patrol cars.

Twenty-seven-year-old Bernard Watkins was released from the Lake County Jail yesterday. He faced a number of charges, including carjacking, in the August 12th crash that killed Patrolman Benjamin Wilcher.
Prosecutors said they were unable to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt.

------------------------------

wow, hating the police crosses state lines. Look at the wall. The public, judges, and ASA hate the police, and want us to be killed. Its gotten that bad.

This is the worst job in the world. If you get killed by a shithead, they walk. (a police man would be serving 10 years min) People can now accuse you of wrongdoing, and fired. The public doesn't care if you save thier life, and the judges don't care if you risk your life to keep em a job on the bench.

No contract. And a new sup ready to fire everyone with this zero tolerence attitude.

Where is the FOP? Where is are exempt command staff (throwing us under a bus and silent to the press and public)

Question for old timers. How low is moral compared to when you got on?

However, I'd love for a white shirt to be honest and post an answer to this. Why, a blue shirt should be happy and work in this daily atmosphere?

Living up to his surname, Moron failed sobriety tests, the station said. The arrest report showed his blood alcohol level to be more than twice the legal limit.

Maybe try to snag this benefit in our next contract:

MADISON, Conn. — Madison's police commission has heard allegations that several town officers have had encounters with prostitutes while working the overnight shift.

The allegations came up Monday during a Police Commission disciplinary hearing for the midnight shift supervisor, Sgt. Timothy Heiden.

No criminal charges have been filed in the case involving prostitutes. However, officials say arrests are expected in the coming weeks. Heiden is not expected to face criminal charges.

There are administrative charges that Heiden did not properly supervise subordinate officers.

The officers allegedly met with the prostitutes at several locations including the commuter parking lot off of Interstate 95 as well as behind a school and a shopping center.

NEWS FLASH !!!!!!!!PROBLEM SOLVED::R.Vanecko, Boss Daley's nephew, was extracted from the night deposit shute by the Fire Dept. late this afternoon.

Vanecko stated that since the night deposit contained police officer's monies he felt entitled to help himself, as he did from their pension funds.

When he attempted to exit the shute with a bag of cash in each hand, he became stuck. Although he realized that the only way out was to drop one of the sacks of money, he couldnt bring himself to let the money get out of his grasp. He was still clutching the two bags of cash when pulled from the shute.

Although a clear case of burglary, Felony Refuse declined to approve charges and ordered the officers to give the two bags of money to Vanecko.

Gov. Blago issued a full pardon for this and all future thefts by Vanecko.

Really scary!!!! Interesting that this is the church that Obama attends...

Subject: Obama's church

Obama mentioned his church during his appearance with Oprah. It's the Trinity Church of Christ. I found this interesting.

Obama's church:
Please read and go to this church's web site and read what is written there. It is very alarming. Barack Obama is a member of this church and is running for President of the U.S. If you look at the first page of their web site, you will learn that this congregation has a non-negotiable commitment to Africa.

No where is AMERICA even mentioned. Notice too, what color you will need to be if you should want to join Obama's church... B-L-A-C-K!!!

Doesn't look like his choice of religion has improved much over his (former?) Muslim upbringing.

Are you aware that Obama's middle name is Hussein? Strip away his nice looks, the big smile and smooth talk and what
do you get? Certainly a racist, as plainly defined by the stated position of his church! And possibly a covert worshiper of
the Muslim faith, even today.

This guy desires to rule over America while his loyalty is totally vested in a Black Africa!
I cannot believe this has not been all over the TV and newspapers.
This is why it is so important to pass this message along to all of our family & friends.

To think that Obama has even the slightest chance in the run for the presidency, is concerning.

I've never been a member of the Credit Union and I would recommend that all CPD officers go out and shop around.

It's easy to find a decent financial institution who has competitive rates and better programs than the CPD credit union.

They have a few programs that may fit your lifestyle but most are overly costly and don't do much for your longterm financial interests.

Just my 2 cents on it.

I asked where I could deposit a check I was told on washington st office or I could use a ATM from another bank and I will be charged to deposit a check. You would think they could wait another month before removing the ATM but that would be common sence.
