Bring on the Executions!

  • DuPage County State's Atty. Joseph Birkett joined a Republican lawmaker Tuesday in urging Gov. Rod Blagojevich to resume executions, saying Illinois' death-penalty system has been reformed.

"We encourage the governor to follow the law," said Birkett, president of the Illinois State's Attorneys Association. "It has been eight years since the moratorium was imposed."

To that end, state Rep. Dennis Reboletti (R-Elmhurst) said he has introduced a House resolution asking Blagojevich to resume executions.
Blago is a panderer. He panders to certain constituencies for votes and for the chance to pollute a potential jury pool for himself or the wife when the Federal indictments finally arrive.

Maybe Birkett will if he can defeat Lisa Madigan next election season.

I commend Birkett and Reboletti. It’s a shame that jag Ryan screwed up the system so bad. But even if the Illinois’ Death Penalty Moratorium Project is repealed there is a big problem. See there’s a little law that says if the State declares they will seek the death penalty, those whore defense attorney’s get to tap into a state fund. This fund which has hundreds of thousands of dollars in it, is to be used so the best defense can be given to the shit head. What, the P.D. can’t handle it? It’s a fund set up so rich defense attorney’s can get richer. Are you kidding me? So even if we win, we lose. This State is fucking insane.

Lethal injection should be reserved as a humane method of euthanasia for beloved pets suffering from excruciating pain due to mortal injuries or terminal illness.

The guillotine is swift and painless. Decapitation can withstand the scrutiny of the Eighth Amendment.

Schedule executions for midday in public venues (i.e.: Daley Plaza). Add pay-per-view television coverage to offset the drain on taxpayers.

For deterrent purposes, the heads of the condemned should be mounted on pikes for public display for a minimum of 72 hours.

Birkett is a tool!!! He is just like any other states attorney. He is the enemy to the police. I can tell you from personal expierence that he hates the police just as much as Devine. Birkett is a politician who would throw as many police officers under the bus as he could for his own political gain.

I find what Birkett says laughable at best and in reality insulting!!! I would like anybody on this site to go out and talk to officers in Dupage County and ask them what they think of Birkett. The officers who don't have their noses up the states attorneys asses will tell you the truth about this jerkoff!!!

if you execute the wrong man, as has been proven to be more than an isolated case, then are the judge, jury, and arresting officers guilty of murder? or they must have been a scum bag to get arrested, so no loss? its very hard to right a wrong the the person is dead. can a system as rife with corruption as ours be trusted with life and death?

FALSE INFO: There is NO recorded execution of a wrongfully convicted person in the U.S. since 1970, when executions were resumed.

Libs like to toss out that bit of misinfomation. It's simple not true.

But then, since when has truth ever entered liberal thought.

Do you really think someone would admit that. If the death penalty is brought back you better believe the scrutiny will be unbelievable. There is no way any reasonable person can believe that every person on death row was guilty after all of the DNA overturned cases throughout this country.

Hey hair gel kid-the only persons who use the word "tool" in their speech, or feeble attempts at written communication-put down Maxim and google the Nicarico murder case. Birkett, and Jim Ryan both stood solidly behind the police who were indicted and came to be known as the "Dupage Seven", unlike the Northside turkey Dick Devious.

After yesterday’s bomb threat and building evacuation, Jane requested and received personal time off rather than return to the building for the remainder of the work day. China also kills people for white collar crimes, such as forgery. Here, if you can get it passed felony review, it's supervision.. and they give you a ball point pen and a check book on the way out as a "goodie bag" so you can do it again the next day.

I used to say...fry em. I used to say, give em the shot. It was nice to see Gacy get his. But, the older I get, the harder hy heart has grown. Now, I feel nothing. Too many victims over the years. And, as far as the animals.....they aren't deterred by anything. Who the hell are we fooling. YOU and I operate off a different set of values than these animals who may be psychopathic, sociopathic, mentally ill, or just devoid of any morals and character. I think about the extraordinary cost, the appeals and dragging families through all the BS, political posturing, and it seems to never end. In the meantime, the 'condemned' live in remarkably good conditions in 1 man cells for a long, long time. At the end, when the shot goes down, I see it as revenge. I'm sick of revenge. The death penalty won't stop the chicken massacres, the cop killers, the clothing store killers. It only satisfies our sick satisfaction of seeing someone get theirs. It's symbolic of every asshole we see on a daily basis that rubs us the wrong way or who has victimized a kid, a woman, or some elderly person. And our satisfaction is tax paying $$$$$$$$ revenge. I'm trying to be a human being these days. Screw that macho, "Fry em, juice em" mentality. The State of Illinois is already busted $$$$$$$ out and we bitch about money. Can't have it both ways. Send them to isolation cells at Tamms Supermax and let them stare at blank walls for all those miserable years. Cheaper than all that pomp and circumstance....although it would be nice if they tried a stupid move during the arrest and caught a bullet on the spot. End of story.
As far as Birkett....master politician. Why pay attention to him or any of these bring on the executioner politicians?... wake up! That Rolando Cruz mess cost some great Sheriff's employees a lot in the end....including Sheriff Doria and Chief Soucek, who really got fucked in that case. Yeah. Death penalty. Great deterrent. It really makes an animal who doesn't want to go to the joint or go back to the joint think twice about committing a capital offense. And no, I am not a liberal. The cost of an eye for an eye in Illinois is like the west side mob mentality. No one has enough sense to stop it once it gets rolling. Yeah, yeah, yeah....what if it was me, my Ma, my kids, brother, sister, etc..?...What would I want?...I would want to heal. Years of blowhard politicians and lying ass prosecutors and appeals and writs and hearings isn't worth the day they settle the score. I've seen enough of that. And, no I am not a fucking social worker liberal. So, for those anonymous tough asses, I can still offer an opinion....even if you don't agree. Don't kick my ass over it. Oh, and John Milner former Elmhurst Chief is a stand up guy. Even as a chief he did in service trainings through the local training regions for street level coppers and was very involved in the community. Helluva man and helluva cop.
