Lateral Moves
As promised, Chief Kushner of Berwyn has given us the heads up that his Department will be accepting lateral transfers shortly:
- Ads will be posted before the end of the week on the blueline.com, and Illinois Chiefs of Police, as well as the City of Berwyn Website. Starting salary is 50,951, with a $2000 signing bonus. 6 county residency. Just thought that I’d pass this along. Application process begins 18 Feb though 3 March.
It doesn't cost a thing to look.

The Residency alone is enticing.Any Officer w/less than 5 years on CPD would be a fool not to @ least take a look what they're offering?

i have 7+ yrs and make 70,000 but cannot afford a house in the city.
70g x3 is 210,000 and no way in hell in chicago will you get a house for that. not even much of a condo.
on the other hand i'm sure i could find a house in the 6 county area for 150,000.

your right can the new boss stem the tide? most like in "corrupt city" the answer is NO! If your a young officer you have to consider getting on a progressive dept., otherwise you wasted a huge amount of $$$$$$ in college!

I drove down 22nd St a few years back looking for a good Bohemian Deli, or bakery; however, I instead encountered a hodge podge assortment of shitty looking tacqueria's and four foot tall busboys standing where the hearty, Goliath bohunk's once stood and who kept Western Electric buzzing. Fucking shame. Klas restaurant is still there, and Czech Plaza, too. Pilsen Butchers is long gone and so is Jerrys at 22nd and Central. Don't know if St. Mary of Celle is still there.
Lilian Piotrowski was a family friend and could have made my old man exempt way back in the day. There's a park named in her honor across from the Home Run Inn in 010. She was a ward committeman and one of the only females who could walk into Old Man Daley's office unannounced without an appointment.
Berwyn's changed just as Chicago, Bellwood, Oak Park, Edison Park, and even Park Ridge has. Run Park Ridge Arrestees in CLEAR if you don't believe me. If you have any sense you'll start thinking about leaving Illinois. The state offers nothing for a working person. No decent jobs or educational opprtunities (a white kid can still go to Loyola, DePaul, or Northwestern; but you'll pay full boat tutition unlike Jose, or Wilphonse, with a sub par GPA). I can leave in two years with a bosses pension (not exempt, never merit) and Glendale Colorado is looking awful good. Skiing, trout, clean air, no stuttering Irish imbecile, trout...
If you're smart, or a visionary, you'll start looking to leave the Land of Obama and Mosely-Braun (The FOP endorsed cadidate!) and go to where the residents are like ourselves. Geez, Wisconsin doesn't even look too bad with all those idiot Packer fans!
You guys aren't leaving CPD for the suburbs. If the residency was dropped today most of you would stay in the city. Which suburb are you going to move to? They are overpriced and every bad storm creates havoc;not to mention the flooding. Work the job,retire and then move to Florida,Arizona,or Nevada.

I myself did a later transfer from CPD to Berwyn a few years back and I couldn't be happier. Good bosses who have your back, and in the suburbs the media isn't all over you for doing your job.

You're blaming the wrong people. If the residents that made that neighborhood would not have fled, those businesses would still be there. No one can move in until someone moves out. If you don't like it don't move to Colorado,move to the Czech Republic.

A lot of burbs do plow curb to curb. To do this they have all cars on the street moved to even sides on even days and odd sides on odd days. To do this they ticket the cars on those sides.
MORE THAN JUST SNOW ROUTES.
Also most of the burbs are out of salt. Causing a lot of PD crashes.
Driving the city is a lot better, at least C-DOT attempts to fill pot holes and has salt.
How is berwyn now a days? been a while since Ive been there, cert. out of state now...chicago took too long, want to come home but CPD is to lengthy. Is Berwyn good now? Hear they back their coppers well. Input, anyone in the know?

You're the friggin' goof. Tell me how can someone move in if I or my neighbor doesn't move out. The reasons neighborhoods fall apart is because people move away and lowlifes are able to move in. There is no place else to run.
Kusher: prince of a man since he was my h/r sgt. in the academy. As a lt., wrote up a useless F/1 detective for cowardice when she witnessed an armed robbery in progress at a store she was shopping at on duty and did NOTHING (didn't even get on the radio w/a flash msg.) Kudos to Bill for keeping us in mind. If i weren't in my 17th year, I just might take a gander at going to Berwyn. I'm sure the majority are happy with Kushner as he is a stand-up motherfucker of a boss.
