I saw Supt. Weis' interview this morning. Reading between the lines; I say judgement day is coming.
Thought he was articulate and professional on city desk today. Go to nbc website and watch it.
Said he is going to de-centralize the power that headquarters has had - its not good. Let the exempt in patrol and units do their job.
Said he will be asking patrol to remember our job is to serve the public and please try to be courteous and professinal at all times.
Said he will tell patrol supervisors to remember patrol officers have the most difficult job and they need to back them.
Said his biggest difficulty is finding personnel to form the type of exempt staff needed to redesign the department. (good luck)
Said he is good at reading people and knows what kind of people he wants around him. (hint: means he hates kiss butts, current exempts)
Repeatedly said he needs a first deputy that he trusts, is a colleague, is a friend, can meld with his personality, and who thinks like him. (that means outsider)

A P/O does paper on a job (whatever kind), gets it signed off on, and is done with it. A few days later, just for kicks, he looks around... does some footwork, and catches the named offender.
He does a Sup, charges are filed, etc.
Does the P/O then get a slip signed for out of grade Detective pay? Didn't he just essentially do a follow-up investigation? Isn't that the Dicks job?
If he can't get that slip signed, certain bosses need to STFU... -Nuff said.

Off Topic: Inmate's are at it again. Just received 2 collect calls from an unknown prison. One number was 773-890-9748 and the other was 773-847-9514. Caller I.D. displayed PRISON. During the message the recording was from an Ameritech computer recorded voice and a male (african american accent and a lot of noise in the background) not using his name in the prompt. He quickly stated that he was in a car accident and his daughter was hurt and needed my help. The charges would have been on my bill if I had accepted the call and the inmate would have gotten commissary. A quick check of the number revealed it was an Ameritech land based line with no further information regarding the number. County has a lot of pay phones that the inmates use. It's an old scam. Be aware, they're at it again. Charge transfer scam only can be activated after a collect call has been accepted. The prisoner or other caller then asks the consumer to dial a series of numbers, which allows the transfer of future charges to that person's telephone. You don't learn of the scam until the next phone bill arrives.

The dispatcher informed him it was a FOOT pursuit and he again called it off! Supernintendo Jody if your listening either retread this goof or fire him for incompetance and cowardice. It's true, there was a major fire in 023 district on Friday, and he never responded because he wanted to bark out orders from miles away when the building wasn't even evacuated yet. He shouldn't have been hire to be a police aide let alone be promoted.

I'd still like to meet the incompetent fuck that signed off on the G.O. regarding Inventoring of Prisoner's Property. This epitomizes the level of incompetence amoung boses. And don't tell me it's a County thing, 80% of arrestees don't have any contact with the county system upon being arrested.

I just finished reading a brand new book about the CPD. It's 'On the Job' by Daniel P Smith. It was a great read and very supportive of the fine officers who protect us. Amazon has it. I would like to thank him for writing it and thank the officers who protect us.

She was on furlough, had left over time from last year that she had to use or lose. I would say she would not do anything to hurt you, but you need to form your own opinion and stop listening to some of the hatred and bullshit that happens on this site.
I to have 8 years on this job the other "eight year wonder" needs to get his head out of his ass.
I learn something new everyday on this job and will until I retire. 75% of the new stuff I learn is from talking to officers with much more time than I have.

Looking for named offenders is your job. You won't get into trouble for it. You're not doing anything above and beyond. You shouldn't get extra pay for it. You're just doing the very bare minimum that you are being paid to do.
Most detectives don't just run around with case reports looking for named offenders. That is below the bare minimum of their job. They are supposed to interview witnesses, victims, family, friends, etc...looking for those unnamed and unknown offenders. That is their job.
How 'bout just for kicks you do the job your being paid to do?
