Old Style Killing
Two men were stabbed to death and two others were injured during a knife fight in the Little Village neighborhood Saturday night.
The fatal stabbings were the second double homicide on Saturday.
About 9:20 p.m., police responded to 2740 S. Drake Ave. where two men were dead on the scene, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
We're sure the offender was headed for the border as soon as possible. But you have to appreciate the violence that one person can inflict on 4 others with a edged weapon if they really want to (two others were wounded in fight, one seriously). Aside from shotgun murders and certain traffic accidents, knife fights are some of the more unpleasant scenes to be around.

The president of Mexico is coming to Chicago on Tuesday. Because of this, anyone working in 010 on that day has to be in 80/20 pants, no black vest covers, no baseball caps, no cargo pants, etc... per the commander I guess. Even they know these new "uniforms" are ridiculous.

Graphic. But, also showed how quickly an armed offender can close on you before you can even draw down on the him/her. Rose Gordon...I think she worked 002...used to do a decent training on that too.

This is why 010 is such a great place to work. There's a little bit of everything to entertain yourselves with. The south end is almost completely hispanic, formerly Bohemian, Polish, Irish and Italian. The original Home Run Inn pizza is there. Before O.W. Wilson it had been the old Lawndale District that many honorable cops served their careers, fighting the good fight. North end of the district is all black and almost all of it hard core. It's where the Vice Lords were formed and in 1986, the Chicago Tribune published a series of articles on the horrific conditions in 010 saying that there were more murders per capita there than any beat, sector or political subdivision on Earth OTHER than those areas currently involved in warfare. Marquette was always 1, 2 or 3 every year in homicides and very little has changed.
Ever notice that there's almost never an opening in 010? Historically the best bosses on the job were in Marquette and, unlike Englewood or Gresham, everybody got along. You never thought about not going to a 10-1 cuz the caller was black or brown. Even the district itself is a melting pot. Beat 1023 is a microcosm of the U.S. Black, White, Mexican, industrial, residential, manufacturing, retail, Jewish, Catholic, Baptist, etc, etc...
The only danger to the Marquette Tradition of Excellence is the politicians. Ald. Sharon Denise Dixon wants to exert political control over the district and use it like her personal bodyguards and chauffers. Being able to dump hard working cops from their beats because they didn't kiss her ass properly is a DISGRACE AND AN OUTRAGE! Remember Dannye Ward!

Absolutely true. When will this end. Its that damn Chef's Lobby and NKA, always trying to allow these knife nuts to run around with their tools of death. You can't tell me that any blade over 1 inch long has a legitimate purpose. (ask my old lady). For killing, plain and simple. These conservative jerks like Daly, Suffredin, Brady and the like, not a peep out of them over the senseless killing and accidental cuts these weapons cause.
Father Phleger was organizing a protest outside Bed Bath and Beyond stores. He stated "we will no longer stand for these stores selling these knives to our children and our community this has got to stop". More protests are planned. Some steakhouses may also be targeted.

That was a nice walk down memory lane, sorry but it's all in the past. The district is nothing at all like it used to be. The north end is nowhere near as populated as it used to be, goes up once in a while, no big deal. The south end(where all the police are) is slow all week and gets a shooting on the weekend,occasional bad domestic, like this stabbing, other than that, no big deal and i'm not sure what you think there is to handle. It is just alittle busier than 012, 013,021, and 014, all used to be busy as well...
