Well this is just normal; when your in power that long, and you own the courts, the police(bosses),

Laski's just trying to make a little scratch. Big question is, why aren't the "guys down the street" acting on any of this? Or is there more to come? I bet if the fed's put pressure on any of the "inside guys" they could get one or two of them to co-operate.

What, you didn't get promoted? Next time try a little harder. Or are you jealous of others getting to go to other "spots" in the dept? Instead of spending your entire career being a bump on a log, get up and do something you asshat. Good cops make the job work for them. It takes a little more effort than just sitting in roll call and sitting in the car. If you you don't like it, QUIT!!! already.
I won't drop a dime to buy the shitbag's book. But I am intrigued enuff to borrow it from the library just to see how many politcal dicks he stomps. I anticipate a very entertaining read.

CTA is a joke.
Why don't they get rid of the buss lines that parallel EL/Train lines. What people can't walk a block or two. Then they wouldn't need so much of my money.

Aside from money, Laski has nothing to gain from spilling the beans on Daley. In fact, the way the Daley "family" takes care of their members; visa vi, the going away party for his old patronage chief, Laski probably has more to lose.
J-Fed should read this book and understand that Daley is at best corrupt and at worst a criminal. Daley has controlled this Dept. in terms of promotions and strategies. Daley is like Don Corleone had friends in the Police Dept., Church and Government. You can't expect perfection from the troops when the head of the organization is seen as corrupt and his cronies are getting away with things.
If he really wants to change things, he needs to distance himself from Daley.
I can't wait to read Laski's book.

haven't had the chance yet to read Laski's book, but...it's no surprise that da mare would choose to insulate himself, via many layers, from the "operation" (ala the mob). Laski's portrait of da mare seems to be accurate (paranoid, distrusting, prone to outbursts, kind of like a ..., no?). Anyway, if the feds keep chipping away...(wiretaps forever?)....but, on another note, if the Dems get the White House in the fall, there goes Fitz, and so long to fed investigations into city and county corruption...elections matter...
Information is still being compiled for the book "Chicago Police Farce".
It is not a tell-all with names and faces. But you'll find reference in character to familiar names and personalities.
It will be delightful anecdotal reading of our day to day faiscos and embarrassing situations, job related stupity, war stories, and the sacrifice that many honorabley made by shedding their blood for a cause that lacked a real cause. Hence the word "farce" instead of force.
SHOULD I QUIT?
If this book was worth shit it wouldn't be self published. A reputable publisher wouldn't back this because it can't be verified as factual/ It is the ramblings and doodlings of someone who should still be in prison. He belongs in prison, Charles Manson could self publish a book.

Laski conducted himself as most if not all city and state government officials do.
He got caught, convicted and spent time as he should have. Now he writes this book. What is his motivation? Is he sorry for what he did? Or is he sorry he got caught? Mabey he is truly sorry and wants to bring out the truth for an administration who threw him under the bus to save their own skin. Regardless, he speaks the truth. He claims to be a changed man. Only time will tell. I’ll buy his book just to have some reading, while using my department issued blinders
on at work.
Off Topic: News report on WLS radio 89am this morning said Jfed wants to investigate 12 hour 3 day work days. According to news report, he got the idea from roll call in 021. Any truth to this?
I worked 12 hour days, 3 0n 3 off in the military. It was a great schedule. I would take this schedule in a second. Only having to put on this monkey suit 3 days a week and have 3 off would be outstanding. Im also hearing the possibility of 3 on, and 4 off. Anybody have info on this?
I would love to see how the rest of us feel about this. If there is overwhelming support for it, I would like to push hard for it. Chime in please.

Hey, If you got Comcast, The Caine Mutiny is in the free movies section this month.
This is a great movie to talk about here we had retiring ship's captain Cline who understood the troops and looked the other way. Now replaced with by-the-book Captain Weiss who makes friends with the troops and then tells the media that supervisors will be held accountable and are to enforce all standards even the little stuff.
What the fuck? 35th Street is out touch? Who ever said they ever were in touch. Thats a whole new world down there. These bosses think their royalty. They got PO's driving them, shopping for them, getting gas, picking up and dropping off their kids at school and getting their lunch. Captain Weiss wants to reward one of them by making them First Dep, but, first they must prove themselve to be his friend too.
I heard Captain Weiss will also be starring in the re-make of the Flim Flam Man.
