If the guy Ryan sold the gun to had a valid F.O.I.D. (valid on it's face) and the recipient did not live within the city limits, then all he is required to do is keep a record of the transfer for ten years, and if the gun is registered in the city, surrender the registration card.
Ryan is not obliged to, Nor is he allowed to, check to see if the recipient is a convicted felon. Use of department resources for a private transaction is against regulations. He is also not required to make an "instant" check with the state police.
If Ryan failed to do those things, then shame on him. I do wonder why it took over two years for an indictment against a department member.

According to the Trib, not 100% true. The Cicero commander ASKED to be demoted to patrolman PRIOR to the drug test, because he'd only receive a suspension as opposed to termination. Cicero refused and took a hair sample. If the test comes back positive, he'll be fired as he is an exempt rank Officer.

Same situation at academy. officers parking in handicapped spots and those with legit handicap plates must find other parking. Academy parking is horrible. officers double parking blocking other cars. Very ignorant. ADS promises action but violations ignored every day. Who would have the nerve to park in a handicap spot and double park blocking others? This includes academy staff. Disgusting.

Memory does fail me from time to time, but didn't Ollie use the brownie defense, i.e. it was marijuana in some browinies he ate? Whatever defense he used, he did get fired. Frank Trigg did not, and was actually a damned decent guy. I think Frank's test also came in the early stages of testing, before they kept a control, and some other safeguards.

No you ASSHAT, it is not. I came on this job with the mindset of using DISCRETION...
And being that not only do these bars not take care of the police, they like to fuck us whenever they get a chance. Im sure not all bars do, but blame the ones that have. Im not saying I will be going out of my way, but if a fight happens inside the bar, no more "on the sidewalk, Jimmy drinks there" to keep them from being on report.
When they put out cones to save a parking place for the owner/manager/hot bar tender the cones will be removed.
When the patrons waitiing in line are on the street, obstructing traffic... bar will be written up... law says they are responsible for their patrons.
If I see even one person lighting up not only in but within 15 feet of the bar, same thing.
You see drunk man, these are all minor infractions that once as the police we could look the other way. Because when I got off duty, I knew I wouldnt have to wait in line, I knew I would get taken care of, if even just a little bit. Since that practice has stopped (hell Ive even heard a copper getting denied going upstairs at Barleycorn's after showing a badge cuz it was "over capacity" only to see 5 females walk right past the same prick who denied him) so has the practice of taking care of the bars. Bouncer lumps a guy who bumped into him, guess who will be getting locked up?
And say what you want, nothing will change my mind...not even a fat tough guy who rolls up his sleeves and drives a ATV up and down while looking for any white shirt to kiss his ass!

Doesn't Lieutenant John Garrido own the Prohibition Club? He was always pushing us to go there in A5and 025. I went there once,the place is a hole in the wall,never got a free drink and there was a very unsavory element in there. Never again,I can see the "Real Police" hammering the place.
