- Cook County Board President Todd Stroger came out in support Wednesday of an effort by two commissioners to require that all county residents buy a $40 vehicle sticker—even if they already must buy one from the town in which they live.
- The measure was referred to the Finance Committee, led by Chairman John Daley (D-Chicago). Officials in Daley's office said they did not yet know if the tax measure will get a hearing, adding that potential spending cuts will be discussed at a Friday committee meeting.
- Commissioners Joseph Mario Moreno and Roberto Maldonado, both Chicago Democrats, introduced the initiative, which would extend to all county residents who own vehicles a sticker fee that currently applies to car owners living in unincorporated areas.

But in a statemnt released later Stroger defended his hiring of his sister by stating, "Before she dropped out of eith grade, she was gettting her life back together and I'm confident she would have scored at least a 12 on her ACT had she gone to High School. She has a car and failed to buy a sticker so she is the perfect person to enforce this law." The new unit,with a budget of $15 million dollars has 37 employees (2 who aren't even related to any of your elected county officials --- wink wink...) They will work 2 hours a day 2 days a week with a startingsalary of $100,000 per year, full benefits for them and their friends, and pension after 3 years of service...."Welcome to Cook County Sir, Could you please bend over and spread your cheeks..." But sir, I'm not at the CCDOC?

I'm an employer I pay unemployment insurance for my employees, if I have to lay of a worker he receives money from the fund that I along with other employers pay into. This is not a government handout. The unemployment fund is flushed with cash during the 90's because the fund didn't pay out very often, congress is going to only extend the weeks so take it easy boys these Americans can't help it the economy is doing poorly. As far as taxing corporations...that is only a transfer tax to you and I. It is not real money, the corporation is not a person, it is an entity that pays out to shareholders. Tax on corporations only raises price of the goods/services they provide that we buy, if tax makes them untenable corp is out of business and paying no tax. The real tax is always and always will be on the individual and end consumer. But the liberals come up with these idiotic schemes...like bailing out those that bought houses on adjustable mortgages they can't afford.
