Convicted former City Clerk Jim Laski said Monday he worked through Mayor Daley's top lieutenants to get Hired Truck business for the lifelong friend who betrayed him and, therefore, believes the mayor knows a lot more about the scandal than he has publicly admitted.
Free after spending eleven months in a West Virginia federal prison and six months at a Chicago halfway house, Laski is pointing fingers at the mayor in a tell-all book and in-depth interview.
He was thrown under the bus, same as anyone else who dares to cross the mayor. But he must not have been promised anything good after serving his time because he has an axe to grind and grind it he does.
And most of what he's saying has to be true because the mayor and his cronies aren't defending themselves - they're letting a standard press release do their talking. That should be the first clue that something is true, because truth is, in and of itself, a shield. And there's no way that innocent people would stand for what Laski is dishing out.
Unless Laski is being paid to pollute the jury pool. Hmmmm.

hey SCC make a post about the 12 hr days. I am 100% for it. Piss on The FOP we do not want to work 6 days in a row!!!! The 5th and sixth days suck. 3 12's would be awesome. I could do 12 hrs because I know that I would only have to do them for 3 days.

So WGN and Fox News report this morning that Supt Weis is pushing the 12 hour/3 day work week.
He feels this will be better for morale since PO's can spend more time with their families. He also feels this will cut down on medical abuse.
The report also states the FOP is against this and pushing the 6 on, 3 off schedule.

I hope (and do believe) this guy is right. But until he can directly point a finger under oath at Daley nothing's gonna happen. Even if he could do that, I don't think anything would happen anyway. Daley owns everyone.

Now, what is wrong with this picture?
11 months of 'in' custody federal time.
6 months of 'out' custody halfway house.
Something doesn't add up here.
Per Federal Statute, 'out' custody halfway house placement can only be for 10% of the inmate's 'term of imprisonment' or 6 months, whichever is less.
Though the wording of the Federal Statute states clearly that 'term of imprisonment' is the length of time on which the halfway house placement's length of time is to be calculated, with a maximum placement length of 6 months, the BOP has rigorously insisted that 'term of imprisonment' means 'time actually served', rather than 'time sentenced', and has enforced this interpretation vigorously.
Since a Federal sentence can only be reduced by, at most, 15%, per the revised sentencing statutes of 1984, (the formula is a bit more complicated, but 15% is close enough for discussion), the difference between time sentenced and time served can be, at most, 15%.
If Laski was sentenced to 20 months, he would have had to have served 12 months and a day 'in' custody, to have qualified for his 15% of that first year's good time credit.
Presuming he would continue to be a good boy throughout the remainder of his total sentence, his good time credit would be calculated at 15% of 20 months, which is 3 months 'off' for good behavior.
Thus, his remaining time to be served would be projected to be 17 months total.
On a 17 month actual served time, the most halfway house placement time he could have gotten was 10% of that, 10% being 1.7 months, with the bulk of his sentence being served either in a Low Security BOP facility or a Minimum Security BOP facility.
How is it, then, that he was permitted to be placed in a halfway house for 6 months, far more time than the BOP policy for placement AND the relevant Federal Statute allows?
Whatever his original sentence was, the ratio of 11 months 'in' custody to 6 months 'out' custody halfway house placement is clearly outside the normal procedures practiced by the BOP.
The only federal inmates who get 6 months of 'out' custody halfway house placement are those who've served 60 months, or more, OR those who've been specifically sentenced to a term of imprisonment totaling 6 months or less and the sentencing judge specifies a halfway house placement.
Even these cases have been disputed by the BOP, as the BOP has claimed that a halfway house is not a place of imprisonment and cannot be used as one.
Something's not right here.
Do little, just enough to get by. Remember, it's the 1st and the 16th that really count and hopefully you will retire with a measly pension and still get fucked!

The worst thing about going back to the watch was that sixth day. You don't realize how much that tires you out when you are doing it.We must not let FOP negotiate that into the contract. A five day should be the absolute worst that we have to contend with. A four day week is the best. But they must rotate DOG's.

did you see daley's response today on the news. it was classic. i don't know him at that level and he doesnt know me. what the fuck! it's obvious king daley is nervous. if i was accused of major wrong doing i would be screaming im not guilty, but that aint happening.
