My husband and I took the day off from work and we took our kids to the 2nd amendment rally held downtown today. Let me tell you, the message of the day was "gangbangers and thugs don't adhere to gun laws, since the gun ban on the city crime rate has gone up and "gun control" is not working, citizens who are NOT allowed weapons in Chicago are the victims and should have the right to own guns and protect themselves and the police can't be EVERYWHERE." (There was actually a statement in one of the speeches that the Chicago Police were doing a GREAT job in the city........with a round of applause from the audience.....well deserved I might add)
So.........all of you cops who have ben spewing your hatred for Daley and crew........and especially spewing your hatred for the "gun laws".......where were you??????? I've read the blog for a long time and I KNOW most cops feel that citizens of cook county should be able to have guns.
I know....II KNNNOOOOOWWW......."I couldn't take time" or "I didn't have any time on the books". Ask yourselves.......this "time" that you just couldn't get, was it because of (fill in the blank).....the last "time" that you took....were you and your family "observing" or "participating"?
My husband and I are firm believers of "you are either an observer in life or a participator". Couldn't take the day off? The last time you took a day off was it for your sons "travel baseball team"? Was it because you drank too much the night before....hanging out with your buddies after your "softball game"? Was it because you took your days to go to "Vegas" with the guys, because you "just had to get away from it all"? There are all kinds of excuses not to be there, what were your excuses? Did your excuse have anything to do with your family "observing" another family member or "participating" as a whole?
I say to those who spew how we should "stick it to Daley & Co and did not make the sacrifice to be there WITH YOUR FAMILIES.......You FUCKING PUSSIES..... Especially those of you who have kids and didn't bring them into the fold of this historic event. Who do you think is going to continue this fight when you're gone? If this isn't a conversation in your housholds you should be ashamed of yourselves. I bet you sure talk about the "Sox" and the "Cubs"....let's not forget "hockey"!!!!!! OOOHHHHHH....."you're really making a diference"!!!!!! I bet you had a conversation with your neighbor this weekend about "what deck sealant he used"? How about the conversation you had yesterday about "Johny's" baseball game you had to travel 100 miles to....to play a team that is 5 miles from your house....WHOW.... your family really "participated"....didn't they? I don't know how your wives and kids respect you. Obviously if you can rant on the blog your views you can say them at home. How did you explain to your wives and kids that today wasn't important enough? Did you even tell them about it? If not.....WHY??????? Didn't want to do any "participating" with your family? In twenty years, when MY kids are fighting the fight, I hope you can sleep well at night knowing that your kids are the ones who talk a big talk but can't (or don't know how because YOU never showed them) walk the walk. speaking of articles, I read an article on thursday's scum times about how much lawyers made from city "scandals". In the article , there was a bit about state rep edward acevedo , and I quote ;"a chicago police officer, who sued a fellow cop, Dennis Canterbury, over a scuffle hat broke out when an allegedly drunken Acevedo tried to retrieve an aide's towed car from an auto pound seven years ago." why is this ass hat still on the job? hey J-fed , hey mr. mayor , hey media - do some digging. If that's not a reason to boot someone off the job - hell I don't know what is. talk about conduct unbecoming. - this guy cost the city $132,363 (paid to stellato & scwartz) - god knows how much more in court fees and legal fees for the defendant. Nothing happened to him because that's daley's boy. take his police powers away. wtf??

Kiss my ass you pompous arrogant blowhard. Who the fuck are you to call people to task over what they do on their day off or with their time. Big deal, you went to a rally. I was too busy riding around in my squad car in my (and thousands of others) daily routine of trying to keep the wolves off of the sheep. And I don't know where that perfect husband of yours works, but where I work, it IS difficult to get time due. So rather than go to that useless rally (and trust me, there is not one politician or policy maker who gives a fuck about what a bunch of disaffected citizens think, no matter how noisy they are) I try to make myself useful to the 2nd amendment cause by watching who I vote for, and contributing to groups (like the NRA) who can lobby and do some real good. And as to your "observer or participator" comment: observe or participate in what? The lives of our kids? I always was and remain proud to go to my daughters games and tournaments. And school functions. Or chaperone dances. Or help them wash the car. Any of which activities are as or more important than going to those rallies. Observe or participate in my city or country? I participated in the Army for three years, how about you? I've been the police for 24 years, how about you? Observe or participate in the political process? I've voted in every election since 1970, except the one when I was in the Army and the ballot didn't get there in time. I have encouraged (and accompanied) my kids to vote as well, bringing them with me when they were little so they could see how important voting is. And they haven't missed an election since they reached voting age either.
In closing let me say this: there are many of us who participate on many levels. We (unlike you) just don't feel a need to toot our own horns every time we do something.

If you are the "participant" that you claim to be in your rant, why did you hope that SCC would have a link? Why didn't you set up a link somewhere, all by yourself, on your own blog? 4.I don't know about you, but when my husband has a day off he is either with us doing something we all can enjoy as a family or doing all the crap that needs to get done while working 6 days a week. And fyi, kids probably don't enjoy any kind of rally but one at McDonald's. How much did your kids participate yesterday? Or did they observe?
5.My husband is a real man and participates quite frequently, trust me...
And so we are clear, I firmly support the 2nd ammendement, and the police department. I show my support in my own way. I'm sure you do more than rallies though. You do go to all the St.Jude Marches, are first to volunteer when an officer or their family needs comfort or assistance, an educate (not berate)people on issues that are important. Right?

Try participating in the Army for 8 years, and while you're at it, FIVE deployments. Try working in Area 2 for a few years immediately after that. I'd like to think that I spent those 8 years defending free speech and religious freedom etc, so I'll let you're little tirade slide off of my back.
