Another Frivolous Lawsuit
- The family of a Chicago teen filed a wrongful-death lawsuit Tuesday that alleged Chicago police fatally shot him last month even though he posed no threat.
Luis Colon, 18, was on probation for a weapons conviction when he was shot and killed by a tactical officer on the Northwest Side on June 24. Colon confronted officers with a loaded pistol in the 2700 block of North Kilbourn Avenue, police contended.
In the lawsuit filed in Cook County Circuit Court, Colon's family said police used excessive force and killed him without justification.
On probation for weapons violations and running around with a loaded pistol, yet the family claims he "posed no threat." A-fucking-mazing. This 18-year-old waste of protoplasm is nothing but a lottery ticket to his family.

Let this topic ride itself out as Chicago business as usual, and watch the numbers the police department wants drop just a little bit more. Why is it so fucking difficult to get a common sense law on the books that would prevent any/all lawsuits brought about by one who is killed/hurt/wronged while committing a crime. You commit or are attempting to commit a crime then you or your so-called loved one loses any and all rights to sue dumb-asses !!!

Interesting piece of information on this shitbag: about 3 weeks prior to meeting his demise, he led police on a short car chase, then reversed into a marked squad car, and then attempted to flee on foot, but was apprehended after a short foot chase. Another fine example of the citizenry on the West Side of Chicago. Hey morons, don't point guns at police officers and maybe you won't get shot.

Believe me when I tell you that the city does fight many of these cases. They've learned from there mistakes. By settling cases in the past it only emboldened scheister attorneys to file lawsuits against the dept for any petty reason.
Malpractice lawsuits used to be the #1 business for scheisters, but suing municipalities has taken that spot.

The people of chgo must wise up fast. These POS lawyers and there POS clients are constantly lieing and making up BS lawsuits and the city just pays out even if the case is a total lie. The city has to start subrogating these BS cases and recouping some of the money from these lieing POS. It is riduculous when a copper gets a gun pointed at them and still gets sued.

that sounds like a great idea, but the problem is they don't believe pookie, juan, or whomever, did commit a crime and we just make all this shit up, so they will file anyway. The time has come for the city to get some balls, stop settling, and maybe file suits against these people and their lawyers for defamation of character. Limit the amount these attorneys can take on a lawsuit, they shouldn't get 30-40% of the money won, limit it to a reasonable amount and if they lose the case they have to bay the defendants legal fees...

This is the case that Corp. Counsel should fight to the end. Even the jagoff's friend admitted on camera to a reporter that jagoff was in possession of a handgun. This lawsuit should be the turning point to fight the outlandish lawsuits. I gurantee that the longer it drags out the more frustrated the family's attorney will be and will finally say it aint worth it.

When the lawyers approach the desk at the Daley center to file; there should be an adjudicator in place, telling these assholes lawyers "you got shit, try again in about a year". Anyone with a half way decent brain can read those lawsuits and determin which one's legit and which one's (most all) are bullshit.
I think that TACT Officer should sue the "mother" of that shitbag. I am sure the Officer is stressed out and in need of compensation. After all, it's the "mothers" fault. Ask Jody!

I think it was Colon's fat-ass mother who was the first loudmouth JO kicked out of Tuesday's city council meeting. If she put as much energy into raising her son properly as she will pursuing a civil suit tax dollar payout maybe his gangbanger ass wouldn't be worm food right now. Have the attorneys subpoena the media videos of the mother of this deceased shitbag .... it's been reported she's caught on tape making threats of retaliation, to 'get' the copper that killed her son. Maybe her prize lottery ticket won't turn out to be such a big payout after all.

Keep in mind that when the city settles, it's to put tax money into the pockets of the lawyers.
The 'plaintiffs' are just a means to that end.

Please keep us posted on this one SCC. Not only the poice, but the (high) tax-paying citizens of Chicago should be outraged at all this law suit nonsense brought on by gang-banger families. If someone is killed committing a felonious act, there should be no law suits allowed. Why isn't there any laws on this? It would $ave this city millions$.
