Hope for Mette?

Another reporter has taken up the cause. And this guy writes for the Des Moines Register:
  • Mette is in an Iowa prison because of what Chicago Tribune columnist John Kass calls an injustice that "smells of a thousand hogs."

Hold off on the indignation over the insult. Kass, and the dozens of Illinois police officers and prosecutors who agree, may be onto something.

They think a guy who is being threatened and shoved by a drunk has the right to defend himself. To throw a single punch.
Mr. Carlson has obviously read the judge's decision and calls her out on a number of inconsistencies. A number of commentators express shock and dismay at how the entire case was handled. A few trolls (some of whom have attempted to comment here) attempt to cloud the issue with outright lies that go unchallenged, but hopefully, the way to get Iowa politicians to wake up is to get their local media bringing pressure and the real story to the voters.

From his headline to God's ears. I certainly pray this situation comes to the proper resolution rather quickly.

As this is the truest definition of "miscarriage of justice".

Mike, take it a day at a time.

The main thing is to get Mike Out, ASAP. Then, the illegality of what they [Iowa Judge and Prosecutors] did to him should be investigated fully by the Feds, and indictments for Official Misconduct etc; issued on the Iowa authorities involved. This kind of stuff would have never happened in America decades ago, but now that we've turned into a politically-correct, police hating Liberal Banana Republic, this is abomination of justice is typical of the liberal Fuzzy-Logic, new Age thinkers, formerly known as "Too Much College, Not Enough High School" Left Wing Wacko's.

It will only take you a second to send an e-mail to these people.

Newspapers write about what people are interested in reading.

So let’s send some e-mails, make some phone calls and ask them to continue to cover Mike’s case. They might ignore us, but they make money when they sell papers, and covering stories that readers are interested in helps them sell more papers.

Not that we care if they actually sell papers, but we need to raise awareness in the capital of Iowa.

After the release from Prison, he should be re-instated to the CPD with BACK-PAY!. After that every FOP board member should line up and Apoligize, and right behind them should be CLINE, DALY, J-FED and all the exempts who could have and didnt do JACK-SHIT for the man.

He was not convicted of any federal law so would need a pardon from the governor of Iowa. Thats a very tough thing to come by in most states, especially while still in prison.

"Now is the time to push for a full presedential pardon."

Actually, what Mike needs is a State Pardon - the President can't pardon him as he was convicted (wrongly) by a state court.

That means all letters need to keep going to:

Hon. Chet Culver
Office of The Governor and Lt. Governor
State Capitol
Des Moines, IA 50319

Patrick Daley was arrested and brought into 018 where miraculously there were no charges filed. A Chicago miracle. This was in 1999 or 2000.

I put something up about this on another post about Mike...

I'm trying to organize a march down in Des Moines (their capital) on September 27th.

It's only a 5 1/2 hr drive from downtown, and on a Saturday we wouldn't have to deal with rush hour traffic. I propose if we leave at 7am, we could be there by 2 or so, march for a few hours or whatever, be back in Chicago by midnight.

I'd make sure we get press releases out before hand, and also try to secure the proper permits from the locals. If they refuse, we still have the right to peaceably assemble.

So that's it.

September 27th. 2pm. Des Moines.

We can call it like March For Mike or something.

I put up this email address on the other thread about this and only heard back from one copper thus far. So if you're interested, I'll spearhead it. I'm not CPD, but my mom and dad are. I have the time to devote to this.

Email: SaveMette@yahoo.com

I also contacted SCC last week about this, just to get some advice, but haven't heard back yet.

I'm trying to do something to right this travesty of justice, I just need a couple of people to come on board so we can gain some momentum.

Thanks

First of all this section is about Mike Mette..If you can't spare us your "off topic" stuff just once for a fellow copper, please...

Second, what if anything is FOP doing for Mike Mette???

I am willing to start a letter campaign to ask the Governor of Iowa for a pardon if you, SCC, are willing to help advertise and seek volunteers who will help me distribute..And E-mail petitions don't work so don't start...We need to do more, like a big media campaign and clearly FOP has not done that. This is one case where they need to bend the rules of getting involved in "criminal" matters and show some leadership...
I will write the letter, have some attorney friends read and edit and pay for copies and postage but I'll need all of your help in getting the things passed around..Anyone interested write me at sgtobie@aol.com..
In the mean time, remember Mike's defense fund and the prayers, they do work...

To 4:58p.m. Who gives a fuck what district has the lowest numbers! You must be a company suckhole numbers guy! 023 has citizens that go to work everyday and the crime rate is low. One of the 25 districts has to be last. If it were 022 I'm sure you would have to point it out also.

Numbers don't mean shit unless you're a clout boss. This department has always been quantity over quality and that's a huge problem. I'm sure 023's numbers would go up if everyone went out everyday and locked up three drinkers, but what difference would that make in real crime? NONE! What good would the police be to the honest citizens if they are down on a drinker AR when a crew comes in and does three robberies? I hope traffic isn't too bad on your way to 35th street tomorrow and remember to suck some boss ass at the DOC meeting!

Mike Mette should get a pardon, just like the guilty in Illinois get, get a big payout, like the guilty in Illinois get, and get reinstated to his job with full backpay. We do it for convicted killers who are obviousl guilty but managed to jerk the legal system off for millions and their freedom. And they are GUILTY. Mike Mette is innocent. Free him. Pay him. And reinstae him. Get him out now.

We are too busy talking shit about each other on this blog when we do not have the balls to say it to someones face. We bitch and moan about petty shit and back stab each other and the only ones who are laughing are the city and the general public who hates us. The old school police would of done something because they were united, they were a family and they had eachothers back. In 1992,jon burge had a 10-1 rally at the plumbers hall and had 5000 people even under media protest but today we can not even be united for the littlest of things so how are we going to be organized for mike?I hate to say this but the mette family would be better off with high powered lawyers and people who know the law instead of a bunch of tough talking individuals who at the end of all their bitching and crying will not do a damn thing.

God mabey things are starting to turn for mike, The flood in Iowa has created such a mess I was thinking that the injustice of 1(one) man might have been forgotten. But hope springs eternal. That is if nurse "rachett" dosn't kill him first.

As a registered cardiac surgical nurse of 20 years, it has been my experience that nurses employed in the prison system are the ones that could not cut it in the hospital setting. They are getting by, sitting on their big lazy butts sucking up a paycheck from the state/federal system, with benefits far surpassing mine! PLEASE DO NOT judge all nurses by the actions of one substandard moron. She deserves to have her license revoked and does not deserve the title of "caregiver"! The suffering that she has caused Mike is unforgivable AND criminal!
I am not in law enforcement but have followed the Mette case closely. My heart goes out to he, his family, and his co-workers. Such a miscarriage of justice!
