I've dealt w/them (every member of the family) on so many occasions i couldn't begin to count and they are the furthest thing from innocent you'll find. Years ago under Commissioner Carr and Mayor Daley they knew undesirable candidates were being re-tested and their backgrounds reexamined, just because there was not enough qualified minority candidates. These are not CPD scandals these are the Daley administration scandals. CPD did not cause these problems the Daley administration did. I wish these coward reporters would ask these tough questions of the Mayor or do investigative reporting on these tough issues, but as usual they take the easy route.

Responding to 9/11/08, 02:09. She was a rank order Sgt. That means, off the list.
I'm a cop, not in 009, and I live in Canaryville. It's funny to read the comments ripping Canaryville. Just like everywhere else, the asses are few and far between but they are what "defines" you. The Deuces are just a small group in the neighborhood along with the rest of the pieces of crap. Most of Canaryville are good hard-working people (and an awful lot of PO's). In that same way, Stacey takes the headlines from all us good hard-working cops. Here is the skinny from someone who actually knows all the players.
1) The Sparr's are trouble. The kid is an SD and had been out of the spotlight a bit, but still definitely was trouble. As is his father. Right away, they lose credibility and any sympathy.
2) I have personally, on at least one occassion, seen Stacey riding around in her car with good ole Josh Simental (and reported it).
3) The 6/13 incident is true (at least partially). Lorraine is a POS that dates another Deuce by the name Kevin. Stacey rolled up on these Officers and did intervene. Just as she had on other occassions and this comes from the 009 guys themselves. They knew she was crap and some who "defied" her got static. Hopefully a few can rely that to IAD. The other POs are not part of this, as the suit might allege. They just got caught up in her crap.
4) I also saw her city issued police vehicle exiting a formerly closed garage at about 4 am. Hmmm... figure that one out.
5) One June 15, about 6am, Stacey was observed, again in her Police vehicle, making out with Josh in the front seat. Sounds like Springer, I know, but this was observed by not one, not two, but three people (one of who is a PO but may not have reported it).
6) Before the shooting, Stacey was observed in her vehicle with Josh. She has reported he was "assaulted" and she was canvassing for the assailants. Yet, she never called anything in and he decided to exit the vehicle.
7) She was the first responder, which isn't necessarily bad, but she was there pretty fast for someone who was not suppose to be in the area (on another call?).
Bottom line is this, she is a POS. Sadly, other cops are brought into this by the other POS Sparr. Personally, I'm tired of hearing about it, it gives us all a bad name. She is guilty of, at the very least, fraternizing with these guys and passing info. Why does Lorraine's drug-dealing suddenly stop on 44th and Union when a citizen reports it? Bottom line, quit defending her, keep silent maybe, but do not defend her. Too many people on this blog can tell you too many stories of the breaks she got or the people she screwed (both literally and figuratively).

the sgt.is decent please, this "sgt" goes around and screws anything with pants, including her bragging about having sex on the range while a ppo with a now very high ranking individual. this is justice that has been long over due. shame on her and shame on the dept. that continues to promote connected people.

A couple of things. Sgt Smith IS NOT a merit Sgt. She made it off the list. As a matter of fact, she was a couple of numbers behind me. Secondly, the family from Canaryville in question (Sparr) are all pieces of shit. Police fighters and beefers all the way.
They were like that years ago when I was in 09, and they still are. Smith is a nitwit but the Sparr's are just no good.
I do not know anything about this incident except what I read here and in the paper.After reading complaint it looks like Police Dept. gets another kick in the balls.Watch your back boys and girls.

Making it off a list does not necessarily validate a promotion, as it is well known that the clouted often receive "study guides" from their "mentors".
