Cop Wounds Two Robbers

  • An off-duty police officer shot and wounded two men during an alleged attempted robbery late Wednesday in the Southwest Side’s Ashburn neighborhood.

Two or three men approached an off-duty Chicago Police officer in the 2500 block of West 83rd Street at 11:38 p.m. in an apparent attempted armed robbery. The officer fired his weapon, striking two men, police said. The district where the officer works was not immediately known.

And before the "altar boy" pictures start appearing:
  • A weapon was recovered on the scene
Good job Officer.

First of all glad the officer is ok.

All this talk about Wysinger sounds like the man I have run into twice. He MAY have been a great dude, but it seems this deputy chief thing has gone straight to his head. One day he walks into the station, in plain clothes, no id on, and proceeds to walk behind the desk and becomes all indignant when called on it. He demands to see the w/c, didn't he work in 15? there station is the same set up, he forgot where the office is?
back to point, at the shooting he is on scene, with the even bigger nitwit Pat Walsh, he refuses to acknowledge anyone but other gold stars. I worked with him when we wore the same colored shirt, and everything was all good. Now he is a gold star and to good for anyone else. WHATEVER, but people change and his seems to be for the worse, which is the same way this dept. is going.

If you look at the story in the Scam Times and read the comments you’ll see that the tide maybe turning it seems the citizens are finally getting fed up with the thugs, illegals, section eight, ghetto rats, Mayor etc. Whatever the Police are doing keep it up it seems to be working.

If you had been paying attention you would have heard ME (the bitch of a dispatcher) repeating the same information over and over on both the zone and the city wides.

I get tired of people on BOTH sides of the radio not listening and then trying to blame someone else for their inattention.

You will hear the same voices time and time again ask for information to be repeated. I don't mumble. I don't whisper. I have been doing my job (and on zone 6) for probably more years than you have been out of high school.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings. Next time, pay attention to the radio and maybe you would have heard me repeat, every time I simulcasted, all of the information I had, including that he was an off duty po...and he was calling a 10-1, and that he had shot one, possibly two offenders.

Yes, I am a bitch...and I was just doing my job. I know you have a hard job out there...but consider the fact that I have a hard job at times too.

Glad the off duty officer is OK...glad everyone is in custody.

GREAT JOB to all of the officers involved.

in response: Just to let you know that was our regular dispatcher from zone 6...one of the best dispatchers that works on our watch (midnites). the reason she said that was simple : nobody ever listens to the radio...then you have coppers always asking the same question: "whats going on at that 10-1 squad"..and they always have to repeat that...i understand some of us dont have working pdt's..but thats why we have ear's....that nite everything went how it was supposed to go....all three offenders caught...and this was thanks to the zone 6 dispacther....thanks karen. 806b

OFF-DUTY POLICE SHOOTING

Its seems as if the tides are turning....Judging by the comments posted by readers of the Suntimes, as of 1951hrs on 09OCT08, not one comment was negative. All the comments were positive and in favor of the off-duty police officer. I hope the citizens are finally realizing the kind of ass****s we're dealing with out there!

The officer will be, rightly, applauded for what he did. A regular citizen who did the same thing would be locked up due to Illinois law and Chicago's ordinances. A law-abiding would just be another, maybe dead, victim.

To the officer complaining about the Zone 6 Dispatcher:

My friend, you are off your rocker if you have a problem with Karen Martin on Zone 6.

That zone has had some of the best dispatcher this city has ever had (Becky, Ron, Frannie, Karen, Annie).

Trust me I know - I left Zone 6 several years ago and have been on every Zone in the city.

If you had a problem it was because of YOU. Take a look in the mirror before you write stuff about somebody and realize that when you point a finger at somebody, four fingers are pointing back at you.

WAY OFF BASE with Karen Martin...I've been on Zone6 for over 7 years she and Mike (THE A_TEAM) are simply the best they bring absolute calm to the zone. Never have I heard them redline anyone when it was deserved. She will send a msg on PDT and in some cases call the PO on the cell phone when they don't answer up. I consider them my guarding angels. So get your HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS and pay attention because if she had to repeat it your the one that is an idiot. I guess when I call for help I wont look for you cause you won't hear but they will. Glad everyone is ok JOB WELL DONE

--Hey Karen,

Hey jackass, while you are asking for information that you didn't hear the first or second or third time, you may be talking over someone who has vital information to provide. While the dispatcher is responding to your question, she may be talking over or dissuading someone coming in with vital information to provide. If her foot is on the pedal or your hand is on the key, important information may be delayed.

Its all fun and games until its your ass on the line.
