Direct Correlation?
As the warmer months came to an end, crime in Chicago showed no sign of abating, with shootings up at least 300 and the murder tally inching toward 400.
Through August, there were 316 more shootings in the city than in the same period last year. As of Sept. 30, there were 392 murders -- 50 more than at the same time last year, according to unofficial statistics.
The toll includes three Chicago police officers killed since July.
And if someone would be kind enough to tally up the retirements and total up the recruits we'd see the number of officers short for this year alone. Then figure in the 329 spots eliminated that weren't filled in the first place. We're way short.

THEY ONLY HAVE ABOUT A 100 RECRUITS IN THE ACADEMY AND THEY WILL NOT HIRE TILL NEXT YEAR. THE ADS WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE WITH THE PROBLEMS THAT HE HAD IN THE PAST THAT WILL EVENTUALLY GO PUBLIC. THEY WILL HAVE A BRAND NEW STAFF THAT WILL BE HAND PICKED BY THE SUPT. ALL THE ACADEMY STAFF DON'T THINK YOU ARE SAFE, AND ALMOST EVERYTHING GETS APPROVED AND IT ALL LOOKS GREAT BUT GOOD THINGS WILL COME TO AN END.
We have a city council to preoccupied with the issues of Fois Gras and Trans Fat rather than hiring more officers.
Countless officers have brought the truth out regarding our shortages in this venue and the media either ignores it or waters the true numbers down. They will always protect the inside clout babies and medical abusers. We've said it before, if you're healthy and sworn, you should be answering calls and doing paper period. In these times of violence and bloodshed, no one should have an armed chauffeur or secretary. Will the truth ever be printed, who knows, still this I do know.
Every district, every working unit, and I stress, working unit, those of us that work the street and see evil every day and we all know, true evil exists, have to depend on each other. When they give out that alarm job, don't take it as routine, back each other up. Back each other up...I can't stress that enough. We have to depend on each other now more than ever. Be strong, hold your head high, and keep in mind what Lt. Col. Grossman has truthfully told us...we are the sheepdogs, we live to protect the flock and confront the wolves.
God Bless and Be Safe
Less police means more money for the Little Shits OLYMPICS.The good citizens of this city need to arm themselves because the bad ones already are.
Pssst,
Jody, Jody, Richie,
are you dere? Yeah, dere?
Airport Police? Sworn law enforcement with no weapons. How bout making them CPD and adding them to the ranks? 300 slots?
As for guarding the fences at O'Hare I think I see a mayoral nephew in my rear view mirror.
Seriously, make those folks CPD and get CPD folks with health issues to drive the fences at the airport.
Sure, I only graduated from 7th Grade at St. Mary of Canaryville yet even I know this idea would boost the numbers and maybe make a tiny positive difference. Not that doing anything good matters in a city where only the Daleys count.
Plus the Airport cops drive nice SUV's. I want to drive a nice SUV.
Sincerely,
Tobias J. MacGillicuddy O'Hanrahan Murphy Scharzapoodle Boyle Doyle
I feel like being rebellious. I'm going to drive my car on the Elmwood Park side of Harlem Ave. while I text message, eat Fois Gras and Trans Fat.
I heard a rumor about a Cpd protest at city hall can anyone confirm or deny this rumor. I know it has been talked about. I would don't mind going just don't want to be the only one their.

Let me guess....you got fired..... WAAAAAHH!!!!!
No money for fire, police or essential City services, yet they are buying Michael Reese.
I wonder how the rest of the country views Chicago.
Still no hiring until next year? Any idea if J-Fed plans to streamline the process so it doesnt take 1.5-3 years to get hired?
Last nite drove up on a shooting in progress. Seems the little shits can't even celebrate homecoming without pulling pistols. At an after party on 111th block of Halsted a fight broke out and not less than four teens pulled pistols and began firing at each other. Another CPS student dead. At least four different shell casings found down Halsted street and around the corner at 112th St. Oh yea, when they rolled over the honor student he was lying on his pistol. At least 30 kids eyewitness it all. Nobody comes forward. My partner and I could only grab a few and an off duty county guy who was going northbound on halsted helped point out at least two of the shooters we grabbed trying to leave the scene. pistols handed off in the confusion and when we go after another possible shooter everyone scatters. we couldn't control the scene in the confusion. Detectives from A/2 come out and tell us probably got shit even though two eyewitnesses pick out our two shooters. Mutual combatants/self defense. ASA probably wont charge.
A wild shootout in the middle of Halsted St at 2330hrs and nobody saw anything. worse yet, the kids we brought to the area were shocked the kid died. Probably figured he'd just get up and have two more lives left. So many guns on the southside and complete disregard for life out there.
Stay safe and b careful brothers and sisters. Just keep pickin up the pieces.
Has anybody recorded the Tempurature on their case reports? That's more important than anything else. If the Homicides have anything to do with the tempurature, then maybe reducing the actual temp by a degree or two might reduce the number of homicides, too. Just a thought.
We really don't need the extra manpower, all they have to do is hire us back at time and a half. That would be cheaper than hiring a new body and we could make some extra money during these hard times.
Last night saw the highest number of aggravated batteries with a firearm...the violence continues with NO response from J-Fed...word is his strategy involves weather..WINTER that is!!! Here is an idea..how about the Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune publish on their front pages the daily count of homicides and agg batts compared to last year until the end of the year..or from when J-Fed took over..any way you look at it both are WAAYYYY UPPPPPP!!! Hey taxpayers..feel you're getting your 310K's worth???
J-Pud , you're a trip !
weather...?
we used to say it was the full moon, or the Bulls game or the Bears game was still on, or the rain, snow, cold, etc.
too bad we didn't get our 3 yr / million $$$$ contract then.
take off the uniform and adios rat
With all of you complaining,
why not support CCW for the common citizen?
It would be easier to get CCW in IL, than hire more cops in a broke ass town like Chicago.
More guns in the hands of Citizens, will help control crime itself.
Just cover the entire city of Shit-cago in Kevlar. Sell every item of clothing for civilians and tourists in Kevlar. Get Kevlar umbrellas for shields. It's raining bullets and blood here constantly. Who'll stop the Rain?

I've been working on being a great investigator like the G-Men so Jodie will be impressed with me. When I get my spot, I want you on my think tank. Together we can clean this city up for the Olympics.
We are so under manned! We need back up J-Fed!
Crime will continue to rise, as the animals react to no trainers! No police,no contract, corrupt mayor and 50 cowards afraid to speak out, in fear of upsetting the king! even eddie burke is in fear, looking at making messaging in your car a crime, guess nothing else to do! "Drive me here boys"!
Its amazing that there is more administrative work to be completed than ever before, and the mayor is doing away with the last few low salary civilians that we have.
Alot of the excess paperwork is repetitive nonsense created by our spineless inexperienced police exempt. Alot of it is caused by our paperless computer system designed by overpaid ignorant civilians of rank.
I am going to snap if I hear one more exempt tell me that we have to learn to do more with less. It took 25 years, but they finally beat me down, and now I will just do less. Thank you mayor.
