Inspired by a comment we saw earlier today. Taking J-Fed's recent statement...
- If a gang is dealing drugs and not killing anyone . . . that's not on our priority list
...to its logical conclusion results in quite a few interesting scenarios.
- If you're not using your car for drive-bys and vehicular homicides, are parking and traffic enforcement no longer a priority?
- If you're in this country illegally and are only utilizing fraudulent documents to get government handouts, is immigration enforcement no longer a priority? (oh wait, this is a sanctuary city...never mind)
- If you are merely keeping a gun around the house for protection and don't use it to do stick-ups, celebrate elections or menace the populace, will we cease to enforce "failure to register" ordinances and discard the UUW statute that makes felons out of otherwise law abiding citizens?
After all, none of those offenses concern public violence.

Dear jody, I am writing to inform you that I am no longer able to be a proactive police officer. I liked working, especially hitting the dope boys hard as it not only fucked up their business, but it also made the shift go by fast keeping busy. The team I was apart of had fun, did a good job and actually cleaned up the area we worked. Well, with having only 10 yrs on, the bullshit CR's, the uncontested lawsuits and the rediculous payouts have worn me down. But ultimately it is your over-paid, inexperienced, inept leadership that did me in. I've never been known to be a dog in any job i've worked, it just isn't in me but I feel I have no other choice. Therefore I am forced to turn in my hard work ethic thanks to you and your incompetent staff.

So does the police superintendent when he pronounces "If a gang is dealing drugs and not killing anyone... that's not on our priority list."
"Public violence," I am told constantly by perpetrators of lesser offenses, is the only wrongdoing that should be considered by law enforcement -- by anyone.
I have dubbed this reasoning "The Law Of Personal Convenience." It is expressed most succinctly in the phrase, "It's not like I'm killing someone."
Stealing someone's battery? Smashing bottles on the street? Peeing in someone's hallway? Drunken party keeping the working neighbors up all night? Car stereo so loud you can hear it a mile away?

YOU are being unreasonable for even mentioning THEIR behavior. The ones with a few more brain cells -- the ones with a few pop-psych books on the nightstand -- have been trained to call any request that they be responsible for their actions "playing the blame game."

Jody is an idiot. If somehow drugs could somehow diappear from the city, gangs and violence would be gone too, poof. The only reasons gangs exsist is to sell drugs! H needs to get stop listening to Masters, Monique, O'Keefe, Kerby and all the other never policed a day in their life Mayoral appointees and spend a week in 007 listening to the troops and riding on jobs. Not for a few hours on Friday night.

This is a cowards way of thinking. Why bother policing because it is too tough? J-Fed has a defeatest attitude. He has the 'why bother' attitude when it comes to gangs and drugs. Hey, it is that attitude that allows the gangs and drugs to take over a neighborhood. You cannot just let them run the block. It doesn't work. Keeping these gangs on their heels does. We as officers do this well, but we need A LOT more officers to truly put down the crime problem. If this city was truly interested with keeping crime down, we would have at least another 4000-5000 more officers.

You can rest assured there will no problems slolved by the Messiah. He will be sowrn in and then start running for his second term. He did'nt do shit for Illinois so why should we expect anything from him on a national scale. The man had a chance to make a difference here and he chose not to. Period Stop.

These units are staffed by kids, who went to college and are dumb enough to believe that if they bring in big numbers that they will get promoted! So J-Fed is saying that as long as there is no public violence, there would be no interest from local law enforcement.

What I don't understand, is that the superintendant J-Fed is paid over $310K/yr....and makes a statement quoted in the tribune a big city newspaper which basically shows his incompetance, and lack of understanding of his job....and there is no out rage...nothing said to get rid of this empty suit...while the murder rate keeps going up.
for those who read this blog in the media....why have you not picked up on this.....with the murder rate in this city growing and growing.....and a supt. who has shown his lack of basic understanding of gangs, drugs and guns, why aren't you covering this!!! You write about everything else concerning the chicago police.
Why not write about the fleecing of the taxpayers of this city of $310K/yr for a police supt who is in a job which is way over his head. Or is it that it is easier to just pick on good police officers who are out there on the streets of this city,trying to do the best job they can.

Because we don't have any real journalists in Chicago. I can't recall how many stories I've read that I knew were anything but factual. It has become a business with their only interest in turning a profit. No access no news no readership no profit. They kiss the asses of the ones they believe have the facts only to be told lies that they print and profit by. Pretty simple stuff. Journalists are just the pawns in the politicians world.
