Schaumburg Officer Dies
Condolences only:
- Schaumburg police officer Frank Russo died while trying to apprehend a suspect early Saturday, becoming the first officer in the history of the village to die in the line of duty.
Russo, 47, was not scheduled to work Saturday, but had volunteered to work a shift outside John Barleycorn at 1100 American Lane.
Shortly before 2 a.m. inside the bar, two men "were causing a problem,'' said Schaumburg police Sgt. John Nebl. Asked to leave, they continued to cause problems on the way out and security notified Russo and his partner, police said.
The two men fled and police gave chase. As Russo and his partner caught up to the men and attempted to arrest one, a struggle ensued and Russo collapsed, police said. The Cook County medical examiner said he died from hypertensive cardiovascular disease.
Rest In Peace.

My condolences to the officer's family and friends.
Get yourselves checked out, guys and gals. High blood pressure often has no symptoms until it kills you. I was lucky. My first symptom was losing the lower right 90 degrees of my field of vision. My vision recovered once the doctor put me on the appropriate blood pressure medication.
Again, my condolences.
