Seven at a Time

  • Chicago police are looking for a suspect who shot seven people, ages 17 to 22, leaving a West Side social club this morning. Three of the victims were in critical condition today, and the remaining four were in good or stable condition.

The gunman was in a maroon van that drove past the club in the 5300 block of West Lake Street (map).

Police aren't sure of the motive and the crime is not believed to be gang-related, said Chicago Police Officer Daniel O'Brien. Detectives were checking nearby cameras to see whether they recorded images of the van or the gunman, O'Brien said.
A particularly violent weekend according to the radio reports. Comments here related shootings in at least 9 different districts, including 020. And with everything building to Tuesday night...hope for a peaceful evening, but prepare for chaos.

Chalkie is on a West Side roll!

SCC: You set a Sunday record of 10,138 visitors yesterday. Not too shabby.

Great response versus J-Fed's public endorsement of Obama. Check out Northside's comment under "Picture an Investigation..."; 10/2; 2:44 PM.

I believe the taller of the two detectives (KO) is the ONLY Gang Specialist left in the city. Any truth to that?

Yes, It is true, Gang Specialist (KO) is the only one left in the city. Check the Star Query. Pretty impressive. I can't believe he was actually out on the scene, I heard it was NOT gang related. What a waste of a Gang Specialist! Sad!

Whats with the "even 020" bullshit. 020 has shootings and homicides just like every other district. Mayberry needs the police too. Watch buttercup park go up on election night. So far we've had around 12 agg batt w/handgun and 5 homicides. We lead the city in suicides, attempt suicides, disturbance w/mentals, and panhandling calls. Dont forget a police shooting too that end up with the good guys 1 bad guys 0. To all you party poopers that want say it was the 017 district that did the shooting I say big deal! 020 was right there doing the crime scene! The year isnt even over yet plenty more to come. Sure this isnt area 1 but it sure isnt a cupcake factory either. Coppers from Niles, Lincolnwood, or Skokie would be shaking in their boots working a tour in 020.

P.S. you can move the station or detail me out but my tag will always read FOSTER

Holy Policing the Streets Batman!!!

I was out there all weekend and I didn't see a thing. How do they do it! When I first got on the job three to four people shot at one incident was tops. Now seven or more at a time? My how things change. Is this the type of Change Barack is bringing to Chicago? The USA?

I think a dozen or more at a time will begin to peak around this time next year.

A copper from 020 would shit in his pants doing a tour in 007.

Unless you have something to say, leave Niles, Skokie & Lincolwood out of this crap. If you have something to state about them, then say it or STFU & go back to your basement room at Mom & Dad's place.

Keating, no not the Boss keating, this guy is alcohol dependent and wants to be everybodys pal,, let the foot guys and desk crew all take a duck early, then everybody else has to stay, heaven help requesting a back -up on days, This place and the area is changing everyday and things always bite you on the ASS.
