About Time

This was a long time coming:
  • Mayor Daley's $163,656-a-year budget director abruptly resigned Thursday, leaving a giant void as Chicago struggles to survive its worst financial crisis in recent history.

"Look at the history of budget directors. It's two budget seasons and out. That's just the way it goes. It's a tough and demanding job. I've done a lot to try and help the city, but it's time to move on. It is truly and absolutely for my own personal reasons," said Bennett Johnson III.

Sure seems like this guy is number one on list of people who steered Chicago into bankruptcy within a generation. Revenue generating assets sold to the highest bidder for short term fixes that will do nothing for the long term financial problems facing the city.

After the Olympics drain what little is left of the economy, we'll have nothing left but a shell of a city with a blizzard of bad paper covering the tracks of the perpetrators.

And you have to wonder which of those entities we sold out to, um, I meant leased to, that Mr. Bennett Johnson will be working for in the very near future. And what a grand coincidence it will be when it happens.

I am out of here. Sold my house and relocating far out of state. I feel for the hard working people of this department who actually think they are going to get a pension. You need some "legit" people on the pension board who actually know what credit default swaps ,CDOs,CMBS are. Now that the Huberman incident is over, everyone forgets.

About the parking meters: look at the investment firm involved- relationship to the current administration. Our local news people will never report on that.

it was the shower he had installed in his office on tax payers dime until John Kass found out about it and the clown had to reimburse the city out of pocket! Gotta love Kass!

Who do you know that doesn't enjoy a three day weekend? If I were Daley, I would go to all the Department Heads requesting they send out a memo asking city employees if they would agree in taking an unpaid Friday off, thus giving them a three day weekend once a month or every six weeks. Each Department could select the weekend they want to be off, so the city doesn't shut down entirely. Look at the money saved just for one unpaid Friday once a month...It's worth asking employees if they are in favor of the idea. Who could it hurt? What's next to lease? THE CITY SIDEWALKS

Perhaps the next budget director will see the foolishness of police vehicles being serviced by fleet and return the POLICE fleet to the Police.

Shortshanks can hire one of the Stroger family. I heard they have done wonders for the Cook County budget. They have a little problem with the adding and subtracting part but what the hell, what's a few million here and there when it isn't your money. Don't dare criticize them if you are non black because that would be racist.

Yesiree, Stroger and Daley, quite a pair of fine managers. Add in Blago and you wonder how the entire state of Illinois isn't already in total financial collapse.

The guy claimed he needed a shower because he rode his bike to work. From the looks of the pudge, he didn't do too much bike riding.

How many Billion do we need to say we are in total financial collapse? I think we are there already.

Isn't Illinois one of the biggest states with a pension deficit - if not the biggest?? Over $40 Billion in the hole? And YOU want a raise??

Everyone needs to take a 20% cut.

A lot of BS?? Start looking at the numbers. You can always go to GM.

They are another bunch of dreamers thinking that their jobs are safe. LOL - no such thing as job security. Not in this economy.

Yeah right!!! I heard every last one of our stand up exempts classified themselves as essential on the 28th of November. They'll probably do the same for the 24th of December. I hope someone from the Inspector General's Office monitors how long each one of these non-leaders work on Christmas Eve. Knowing these fools they'll probably excuse themselves excused stupid at 1300 hours.

Signed: One pissed off civilian who has had to give up 6 days this year while my no balls boss is trying to get away with 3. LEAD BY EXAMPLE MY ASS - phony bastards all. Check on them Shortshankd, make sure you get a full 8 out of these useless pieces of human excrement.
