Home Invasion in 022?
The evidence of manpower shortages continues bubble to the surface, although largely ignored by everyone but our readers:
- Word is that today a couple dogs got arretsed in 022 for home invading a retired Sgt., he got off a few rounds at them, they took off and were arrested trying to hide out in a local fast food joint nearby. Not sure of the whole story, maybe someone can enlighten us. There have been tons of robberies and burglaries on the west end lately. Nice job to the 022nd District on the arrest. Everyone needs to be a lot more vigilant around these parts though. The department pours officers into gang infested, shit neighborhoods and we're left to fend for ourselves. Everyone be careful...not just at work. Have you heard anything about this?
And this isn't the only comment. But as the jagoffs feel less heat on the street corners, it isn't surprising that they'd start to venture places where the pressure is non-existent, like 008, 016, 022, certain formerly quiet areas of the city.

this story is true. one dog went to the front door to distract him by asking what street he was on. the retired sgt didnt bite on it and shut the door. he turns around walking back down the hall and sees another dog standing in his kitchen. dog charges him with a possible weapon(not known yet with the facts i have) retired sgt is able to retrive his firearm discharges missing the dog and they flee. 022 grabs the guys at burger king 110th and kedzie. also, coppers house burglarized a month or so back on 11200 blk of albany where two pistols were taken. watch yourselves, i live in 008 but work in 022 and we really have to try taking our neighborhoods back...f the animal.. shoot first, ask questions later.. obviously the court system is failing us so we gonna have to do it ourselves.

You can't really touch on these stories without inflicting race discussions on all these offenders. Many of the inner city criminals feel safe in areas like 22 with robbing old folks. They believe these old folks are easy pickings and have no weapons. They know if they try to rob the 70 year old black manin the inner city. A concert meant to discourage teens from using drugs and joining gangs was interrupted by a fight.
Chicago police were on the scene at the Regal Theater near 79th and Stony Island shortly after 1:30 Wednesday afternoon. The concert was for Chicago public school students.
After the incident, many of the students boarded busses to leave.
There's no word on injuries or arrests.

In the Hegewisch neighborhood of 004, a Sgts house was broken in to and two of his vehicles were taken. Keys must have been inside and the mutts helped themselves to the cars in the garage along with some other things.
It wasn't a nice arrest by 02 it was a nice job by an off duty that led the coppers to where they were.
That's how it happened------one guy goes to front door and puts on the fake act about having to check out something, while the other guy forced his way into the back door and roots through the retired Sgt's stuff.
Good response, ASA approved residential burglary, but did not want to hear about home invasion,even though the grounds were there for it.
Ok Anita Alvarez, you said that you would do your utmost to stop violent crime once you became the Cook Co States Attorney. Is this how you stop it, by re-classifying it as property crime?
Let's see you go back to the ASA's and tell them to start approving this stuff when it's legitimate. Off topic: When I came on the job many black citizens had pictures of Marty King and those great Kennedy brothers in thier homes. I'am wondering if with the introduction of the Obama pictures and plates if there is a new market. Maybe a good part-time job would be a modern day door to door sales operation. Retired police officers think about it. I see a huge market. With all the white votes he received business would not be limited to the poor areas. Gold coast, Park Ridge, Iowa, Colorado are all areas where these items might move.

There are tons of police living around here, but we don't even know the half of what's going on unless it happens to someone we know. You don't need to post this, I just wanted to thank you.

Every unit in 022 responded to the call of home invasion. All gang and tact and every beat car that wasnt assigned a job. An off duty copper observed the dawgs running and had the insight to know that they had commited a crime. The offenders were placed into custody in the walgreens parking lot, not by an off duty po as you stated but instead by beat 2211, 2221 and a tact car. THe off duty followed the fleeing felons in his car calling in the direction of flight. Good job by the off duty and all involved. As an example, I recently began working with the tactical unit. I’m not on tact, but do work closely with them. I don’t rotate, so I get a chance to see the different sergeants from the different teams as they rotate. 862 has been talked about a lot on the site and is an perfect example to my theory above. He is absolutely the worst Sergeant on the tactical unit and maybe the 008 district in general.

022 district coppers were led to the offenders by the off duty p.o. hiding out in the walgreens after they ditched the car in the burger king parking lot with a bullet hole in the door. 022 was responding from way east. You might get arrested, but you will be alive. Since your are in your house they would only be able to charge you with a misdemeanor and city ordinance violation. Both charges will be thrown out in court. The city charge is unconstitutional and won't be prosecuted.

This kind of thing is not exclusive to 22. A P.O. in the Sauganash area(17)had his house broken into by some Latin Kings and had his gun, credit cards, and his 1 year old son's savings bonds taken.

OT: Not that any sane person would but just for police info, if you are heading downtown to do any Christmas shopping, etc. there have been legions of Southside folk coming up to 1st and 18th Dist. committing both STRONG ARM and ARMED robberies in the past couple of weeks. So if you go downtown, bring your off duty weapon. Tell your relatives/friends also. Typical stories are that they get close by asking for directions or a group will just swarm on someone, knock them around and go through all of their pockets. I would love to see a few of these savages get blasted!

The offenders also were charged with 2 other burglaries they did on 2213's beat on 03 Dec 08 near 96th & Seeley. Hope these are the crew that have been hitting copper's houses. Nice work by the ODPO and 022 2nd Watch.
The key is for all the police, their spouses, neighbors and friends to flood 911 with calls of suspicious persons, suspicious vehicles, persons going door to door, soliciting in the 19th ward (illegal), etc....we, our spouses, friends and neighbors know who is possibly out of place in our neighborhoods. The more calls that are place on Beats such as 2211, 2212, will help ensure a beat car actually remains on the beat.....these calls not only inform the officers of the location of potential offenders, it gives them probable cause to stop them......if those working these beats can't find PC to arrest these mutts, at least insure their identity, complete a contact card, and forward it to the Detectives who are assigned to Rob/Burg in those assigned Districts.....Believe it or not, most Det. assigned to the sensitive areas keep that info on hand, disseminate it to other Dist. Detectives, Suburban Departments, etc....utilizing that information to place those persons into photo arrays as suspects....thus potentially identifying them to past/future crimes and keeping them from knocking on your door in the future.
23 years ago, a copper's home in 003 got burglarized. His wife happened to be home and heard a noise coming up the stairs towards her in the bedroom. She got the PO's snub (he was at work) and wasted offender #1 on the stairs. Offender #2 shits his pants, runs thru glass door into backyard, is trapped and attacked by family dog. It took the PO 30 mins. to get home from work and the dog was still knawing on asshole #2. Nobody could stop him. He needed to hear his master's voice. Asshole lost most of his fingers, chunks of leg meat, and one testicle. Permanently disfigured. Those were the days.....

the sad truth of the matter is... if you live in 22 and see suspicious persons and you call 911... the shithead dispatchers will not dispatch a car if it is a m1 of f1. this has happened several times.
Just recently I called. never saw a squad car..
later on..I checked PCAD at work and saw that my call was never dispatched.

The answer is probably(unfortunately) you would be charged with fail to reg(which you can't legally do if you wanted to) a city mcc charge, don't hesitate to defend your castle!(think castle doctrine)
If you are the victim of a crime and the A.S.A. is not going to charge the offender properly or do their job to the best of their ability, let him/her know you are going to go to the media and report this to them. Be very clear about it, but be very prepared to DO it if you have to. See what happens then.
There were two home invasions on 433s beat this week.
The first one they forced an elderly woman into her home and then beat the shit out of her 54 year old son who confronted them.
They were driving a 2008 Tundra pickup, white with 4 doors and Fire Fighter plates.
The second one they kicked in the back door of the residence. When confronted by the owner, they knocked him down, tied him up and cleaned out the house. Including a very large LCD TV which they removed from the wall.
No vehicle seen, howenver one offender was heard by the victim saying, "put the stuff in the van".
Both home invasions were committed by three M/4s or three M/2s possibly Gypsies.
you want a clue what we are dealing with, a 17yr old get shot in the back of the head, dead on scene, dad shows up, is told, then he calmly says, ok thanks for the info I have to go to work.
And my kids laugh at me when I lock myself in the house.

I am forwarding the information that Terry found in the police blotter about yesterdays incident.
It is a very short article but it does explain why I spoke to atleast 15 detective/police officers. My father stopped by to check out our basement. I heard noise, looked out the window and saw a heavy man trying to break down our privacy fence to get into our yard. I banged on the window and screamed "What the f.... are you f.... thinking?" He continued, so I ran upstairs and out the door screaming at the two men and I ran partially down the block. Not thinking twice continued to talk to dad and paint. Terry then called and told me to call 911. During this time I saw several police cars. Also, a lady jumped out of her car and began searching my front yard. When I went outside to see what she was doing she told me she lost something. I heard her tell the driver this is where he told me he threw it. Detectives arrived, searched our yard, my car looking for a gun. I told them where the lady was looking and what she said. They finally found the weapon, in a pile of leaves that I did not rake.
@ 8 pm. another detective arrived took my statement and told us that the Latin Kings stole cop's information and are using it to steal their guns in their homes. Yes, cop's guns!!!!

I have an old Colt service piece, carried by a foot man in 022, back in the 1940s. It has his name engraved, in hand writing on one side, his 4 digit star # on the other side.( Inside a star with a circle engraved under to backround the star). I have his original buchiemer holster with "strap over trigger guard" as well. The snap on the strap is turning green from age. Anita Alvarez is just as bad as shortshanks on her outlook on guns...Her interview with the media when elected, she said" I have some ideas regarding guns"...not good ideas, im sure. Good work 022 in keeping the dogs at bay. Zero tolerance for home invasions.
Thank God the Sgt and his family were ok. There are numerous dogs on kedzie some section 8 some renting and you can tell because the houses are starting to look like shit. My family moved from Roseland (because they would have killed us)and have been lucky enough to survive this long. Why can't certain groups understand they we have a right to live without them (in safety).

Once again, for all of you know it all's. I was on scene. Yes the off duty PO was chasing the offender, but the 22nd district P.O's did catch the offender and place them under arrest in walgreens parking lot.A third offender who was driving the get away car had dumped the car in the burger king lot and managed to escape since no info had been given out about the car. They where still running when surrounded by 22nd beat and tact cars. The dicks where in the area and had bad guys transported to area. This job is bad enough without coppers complaining about other coppers who are doing the right thing. If you werent there then you shouldnt comment on how it happend. Just STFU. The coppers on days and on the tac and gang teams all spend plenty of time on the home front and always put in the extra effort. If you can do a better job go to days, if you have the time or get on tac and gang team. If you dont have the time or the bullshit to talk your way onto a team the I suggest that once again you STFU. Good job by all involved. The difference in neighborhoods inhabited by coppers is that most coppers arent afraid to check things out when they dont look right and most will call or give chase.

Just got another story about Mt Greenwood. Last week a woman appeared at a home on 108th and Troy and asked to use her bathroom. She refused. Just as she began to walk away a white van pulled up and yelled "Let's go. they called the cops." The woman got in the van and left. Unfortunately the plate was covered. BE CAREFUL OUT THERE. Just recently I called. never saw a squad car..
later on..I checked PCAD at work and saw that my call was never dispatched.

Look, I couldnt agree more with what you are saying.I dont understand why coppers waste their time bitching about other coppers in districts with lots of coppers living in them. It doesnt matter where you work we know who the workers are, we know who is afraid to go to the busy sides of the district.Just because 022 is heavy with coppers doesnt mean we dont have the same problems every other district has. If we go east all you have to do is look at some of the businesses on western or look at who is living in the apartments on western. Speaking of which the offender who was caught in 022 last year for a home invasion just west of western at 107-109, on the senior citizen was found not guilty on wednesday.The judge stated the victim was the only one who could identify the offender and he did not trust the victims judgement. The victim was bound and gagged by the offender with duct tape. The offender stays in the appartment on 110th and western, has serious criminal history. Looks like another liberal judge just trying to help another shitbag. My point of this rambling is that while most of us would love to stop every piece of shit that doesnt look like he fits the neighborhood, nobody wants to loose their job or there home. Lets face it just about every piece of shit that walks through the neighborhood looks like a criminal. Female and not a cop here but I have to defend the above poster. I live in a relatively safe area but we have Section 8 scum a few blocks away. After my neighbor woke up in his living room to find a shithead going through his wife's purse I had an ADT system installed (landline with wireless backup) and it's great.
I have been the victim of a few crimes in my life, including burglary years ago and one thing I learned from experience and the police officers who took my report is that the more precautions you can take the better. If that retired police officer had an alarm system while he was being yanked by the shithead at the front door, he would have been alerted to the shithead coming through his either unlocked or breached backdoor. Would this prevent the crime? No. But at least the gentlemen would have warning or more time to do whatever it is his wisdom and experience taught him. The door chimes can be hooked up to any door, including the garage. Unless you'd prefer your wife or kid washing dishes to turn around and have someone standing behind them.
I realize you are the police and as such you don't rely on others to protect or defend but having a gun pointed in your face (as I have had) is a sobering experience when there is nobody around but you and the criminal.
In my opinion, whatever advantage I can have is better than nothing at all. Even if it only means I have a few seconds more to think. I would like to think you would agree.

Must be the same guy I see in Jewel every week. By the third or fourth aisle I'm either going to puke or punch his fucking lights out. He's so starved for attention and so loud that you can't even avoid him.
To 12:51am...I dont use the old Colt for home defense, its just a relic from my grandpa and his era. I did carry it a few times as an armored car jockey, years ago with much pride. I use a Glock .40 /Sig 9mm /.38 snub depending on the situation...also a Rem 870 20" with a Surefire M4 flashlight on it. To the guy mentioning slugs in the shotgun, dont do it....unless you want to hit the house next door. It will take a brick wall to stop a deer slug... Use 00 or 000 buckshot, or maybe #4 shot. Buy the low recoil stuff. Use extreme caution on these home defense shoots, keep the guy next store , and his kids, in mind in these situations. 23 years ago, a copper's home in 003 got burglarized. His wife happened to be home and heard a noise coming up the stairs towards her in the bedroom. She got the PO's snub (he was at work) and wasted offender #1 on the stairs. Offender #2 shits his pants, runs thru glass door into backyard, is trapped and attacked by family dog. It took the PO 30 mins. to get home from work and the dog was still knawing on asshole #2. Nobody could stop him. He needed to hear his master's voice. Asshole lost most of his fingers, chunks of leg meat, and one testicle. Permanently disfigured. Those were the days.....

we should form our own watch. 016/022/008. ODPO's that want to take an hour a day and patrol their area's. Understand that we are still off duty. I'm willing to do this. We don't have any manpower in the districts, and twice in a month i've chased off potenial burglars from 1622's beat. I know people will bitch about not being paid and i have court, and i have kids. Stop making 1 rock arrests and you won't be in court, fuck joe & the ghetto. Let it rott. Who's in?

"And die trying" is the best alarm a homeowner can have for a burglar
there was another incident tonight in 022, a very uncomfortable feeling that there isn't traffic stops happening to prevent these occurencses. when you read find what happend and post, u will under stand
Policing off duty in 022 . . .hmmmm
What would be the guidelines?? Since you are off duty, are the same as the average citizen? How can you stop anyone without jamming yourself up?
If the bad guy knows he is being watched or is seen, he will go elsewhere. you don't even have to announce your office or get close, get a lic plate number call it in, stay a half block away (or a safe distance) again if they are seen, they will leave.

We need to seriously start doing something so we can be heard.if it be complaining to the alderman or start putting this talk about patroling our own neighborhoods into action.fact of the matter is this is BS that home invasion was not approved there has to be a way to get the burglary bumped up to home invasion it might not seem like a lot to some of us but I am sure most of us would agree. Job very well done by retired sgt the odpo and the 22nd district officers!!

You're assuming that people who have alarm systems installed do so with your strategy and thoughtfulness in mind.
They usually don't.
Ever watch one of those alarm system commercials?
The way they, the alarm companies, sell these systems is to give the strong impression that their systems, somehow, can deter criminals, even criminals who've already successfully breached those very same systems.
And, as they expect, some homeowners actually believe this bullshit, said belief thus lulling the gullible into not thinking as you do.
A much better 'alarm system' is to have two, or more, dogs, as members of your family.
And even having dogs won't help a homeowner who's got his, or her, head up their ass.
Complacence is the enemy of precaution.

SCC, Were calling you on this! whats up? i know this might sound dumb, however if every copper goes to their next beat meeting (as a rally point) we could exchange/ start from info there. This isn't a knock on any district or beat car,I haven't seen a blue & white in months, along with the rest of 016,008,022, ok and maybe 004 too. we understand there isn't any manpower .
where was 2211A? a real beat car created in 022. it is not supposed to go east of the railroad tracks. I have seen the beat tag on the car in the MTG.
Is this car still up?
