Good Job Recruit
- A Chicago Police recruit was able to chase down a suspected murderer after the man ditched his vehicle and attempted to elude police Tuesday afternoon on the South Side.
Charles Harris, 59, of Rock Island, was arrested for an outstanding out-of-state warrant, according to a release from Chicago Police. He was wanted in connection to the murder of a Davenport, Iowa woman.
- An alert off-duty Chicago police recruit observed the deputy marshal in pursuit of Harris and “sprang to action,” police said.
The recruit and deputy marshal were able to apprehend and detain Harris.
Nice job. We're sure the readers will be extending words of caution to the unarmed, unarmored, no radio carrying recruit, but it's still a good job by the kid.

It is really easy to say oh he was
59 what kind of trouble could he of gave you, how fast could he of ran etc., just remember one thing he just killed someone and should never be underesimated in any way.
I hate to use this as an example but look at the beast that was able to get Officer Francis' gun away from him and kill him.
The bottom line is never underestimate anybody period.
Great job. Just hope Jody and his Head Hunting IAD Squad don't do one of their notorious investigations and dump you. Remember, today a hero, tomorrow they treat you like a dog.
I'm 54 and do 3 Marathons a year. When I' 59 , I'd say less than 5% of the recruits could catch me !

I'll tell you. Until he was 70 or so my Dad could out sprint about 95% of the CPD and then kick ass. A WW II GI.

Good Job! Don't listen to all the B.S. Who cares how old he was. He was obviously good at not getting caught by the police for some time now. Most of these CPD mutts couldn't catch a 59 yr old if a free donut was tied to his ass.

Enough with the 59yr. old stuff. I have dealt with many offenders that age who are high, crazy, or both. I have seen 59 yr. olds throw a bunch of young coppers around, so don't knock the kid. Nice Work!

A 59 year old, or any person of any age, can, and will, run pretty fucking fast when they know that getting caught means the end of the road. They can and will fight to the burger too.

This job is still a great job been on almost five yrs and living decent. I commend this kid for outstanding service to community. I guess people still work and yes the contract will come! We all just have to think postive. If people would just work and get that court time you wouldnt have to work at walmart like some of these po's have to. Who cares how old he was. The kid did the right thing, and that's all that matters. How many people would simply comply with GO's by calling 911, and then walking away? That attitude is so prevalent on the job now, it is sickening.
I work for Davenport PD and wanted to extend congrats to CPD. Hope the recruit who caught him has a great career, he's definitely got some balls considering the guy used a gun to re-decorate a car interior with her head. A 59 year old man can pull a trigger just the same as an 18 year old...maybe better... be safe out there.
That recruit should be fired! Doesn't he know we don't have a contract yet and he's out chasing bad guys? Listen up kid, you're making the rest of us dog asses look bad. Now slow down!

I used to do stuff like that. But with the Department the way it is. I say you could have lost every thing kid.
