Oh, Come On Now

This is ridiculous:
  • Hey SCC,

Yesterday at headquarters, as of last count, 11 workers slipped and fell in the parking lot on their way into the building. Security in the building notified building maintenance of the unsafe conditions and they answered that they can not apply salt until 2" inches of snow are on the ground. I did notice that where the Exempts park there was no ice on the ground. I know you think we do nothing here, but the bottom line is that 11 employees of the Chicago Police Department slipped and fell due to unsafe conditions. I would be interested to know how many Police Officers fell on their way into work on Thursday. Dirty Dick has already said he won't salt the side streets, until business hours, now he's not salting where we work.
Now Headquarters is going to be short ELEVEN bodies. Who's going to write the memos?

And they're going to strip the Districts to make up the shortages (that's a joke people).

Daley is stealing so much and putting it all away for the olympics no one wants! Think maybe the paper could do a poll to see how many of chicagoans even want the olympics? No! To scared to insult the thief daley and his cronies! If I fall on the ice no matter how little iod until at least summer thanks mayor freido! Now today he fired the budget director another one who most likely took a stand against daley, and picardi will be gone soon with his balls strapped back!

I have worked for the police dept since 1980 and this last few years I have noticed that they dont apply salt in the district lots like before. Yesterday two PO's fell in our lot. Last year several people fell including myself. It used to be that a street & san truck would swing thru our lots but not anymore. Maybe richie has little tommie counting the grains of salt used!

There was lots of black ice out on the streets last night and this morning. I have to wonder if the cost to the city in lawsuits for injuries and accidents will be equal or greater than what they save on salt, trucks and streets & san salaries. My bet is that this will be a money-losing proposition, King Richie's Bilandic moment.

Off topic: but isn't commander Eugene Roy from 009 always fair game?

009th district was just about to have to cancel their Christmas party due to lack of ticket sales, when commander Roy saved the day by threatening officers. He MADE all officers with management spots buy tickets to the Christmas party AND he had a list of names at the door to be checked off. He was pissed that people have no loyalty, etc.

Fuck you asshole! Where's your loyalty? You have to force people ---- management people---- to attend the Christmas party???? You really are a loser if your own management officers have to be forced into the Christmas party.

What I love the most is not only did I force them to BUY a ticket.....u MADE them show up. You really are a fuckng loser Roy.

I do believe NOTHING in this city was salted. I too almost went down outside my district and NO side streets seemed to get any salt. Streets have been more slick than usual. i guess it doesnt matter that we pay taxes and expect that the city be responsible for clearing and salting streets. Expect MANY more accidents in next couple of months. Be careful

I just want to try and figure something out here. At what point during the time of all the allegations against Burge was he a member of the FOP? Are they not blaming him as a Commander of the Det Division of the time of the torture?

Why is the FOP footing the bill now? There are dues paying memebers who are PO's currently on this job who get the shaft when it comes to legal rep and have to go at it on ther own but we are footing the bill for Burge?

If for him then why not the guys from SOS and others like them?

Just wondering

We didn't have 2" of snow but what we did get was rain then it dropped 20 plus degree's and turned it to a hazardous sheet of slippery glass. They don't care about us or our safety. At the area I saw two coppers fall on the ice as I was walking from my car and even after seeing them fall, and even with me being careful, I took a header too and landed on my ass. I hate this city and dept.

Try working in 005/Area Two. The lot is rarely plowed and the parking lot is unsecured which means random street people pass through and occasionally check vehicle doors. Then go into the detectives locker room on a rainy day and it looks like Lake Erie complete with the foul odors!!! I'm waiting to fall in there and sue the crap out of the city. I just don't want a severe brain injury from the fall. Lawsuits are the only thing that gets this city to react.

National Headline:

Murders Jump in Obama’s Back Yard as Chicago Cuts Police Hires

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601109&sid=aQ9o.B5rNDpg&refer=home#

The most interesting part of the article is where they compare Chicago's Homicide rate to other big cities;

The rate of one homicide for every 5,878 residents (in Chicago) compares with one in 11,322 for Los Angeles as of Nov. 29 and one in 17,294 for New York as of Nov. 30, according to U.S. Census Bureau data and local police. Chicago’s population is 2.83 million.

But no one should worry as J-ineffective has a firm hand on...something, I just don't know what.

The police blotter . . .
It's a first! In an attempt to build a better understanding between the City Council and the Chicago Police Department, Sneed is told top cop Jody Weis has invited all aldermen to take part in modified training at the Police Academy.

• • Translation: It's an effort to show aldermen what it's like to walk in the shoes of cops. Aldermen have been told to dress casually for the training.

F@$k THE ACADEMY. LET THEM HIT THE STREETS IN A SHITTY DISTRICT ON A FRIDAY OR SATURDAY ON 3RD OR 1ST WATCH ONCE A MONTH. THEN THEY MAY GET A CLUE AS TO WHAT WE DEAL WITH DAILY OR DALEY! :)

Better yet, use the in-car camera to back you up. When u get out to your vehicle, as u are doing the morning inspection to make sure that everything is in operational order, turn the light bar on. Then get out of the vehicle and start inspecting the front end of the car for any un-reported damage. As you do so, slip and fall and it will all be caught on the camera. Just make sure that you have one of the P.O.'s that come to your aid upload the video!

I agree. He is a Municipal equivalent of a corporate raider. he is dismantling the City 1 Billon at a time.

Im thinking that the City has to show it has enough cash, and can afford the 2016 games cause thats what the IOC wants.

In the spirit of the Chicago way, the cost overruns pay-offs etc. it will be 2046 before the "Chicago 2016" closes the books and declares the games a financial success.

Section 8 is a rental subsidy, so, unless the renters are also the owners/landlords, via some not so clever deed hocus pocus, the owner(s) of the property are likely liable, whether they have liability insurance or not.

The key element to any insurance claim or p. i. lawsuit is proving the claim of harm caused by negligence.

Yes, you should have IOD'ed this, ER'ed yourself immediately after the event, to establish the time, location, nature and negligent cause of your harm.

But I stationed an officer at the end of the block to warn all oncoming motorist of the dangerous road conditions and left an officer at that location until a S/S ward worker came out and applied, by hand, salt from a bag that eventually rendered the street safe for passage.

Is this what it takes? Then so be it.

Those eleven people will all have their IOD's denied (unless they are relatives of exempts) on the grounds of there was no substantive proof that the injury occurred during the course of their duties. How do I know this? Guess.

If they are sworn they will have to grieve it and hope it will be upheld as an IOD, if not sworn, tough luck.

It's cheaper that way than to get people out there to shovel and lay down soma salt on other than the holier than thou exempt cock sucker parking spots.

This is not unusual. I remember a former commander of motor maintenance who worked hard figuring out color pinstripe combinations for exempt's unmarked cars to denote rank or relative importance. blue pinstripe, red pinstripe, gold pinstripe, two narrow and one wide pinstripe etc.

The exempts were grumbling that their unmarked were the same as other people of lesser importance and that they should somehow have unmarked cars with some extra markings to denote their greater stature and importance in the hierarchy of the CPD. No joke. Around 1991-1994

God Bless our Spanglish speaking janitors in our district who maybe care about our officers more than the mayor and don't read any memos and were speading salt around.

Thanks for helping us stay safe, and always take care of those who take care of us.

if the parking lots and sidewalks around the stations are unshoveled, unplowed, unsalted, call the commanders office and complain, keep a memo of who, when and what you complained about.

Call the Streets and San Commissioner Mike Picardi at 312-744-4611 and/or Snow Command at 312-744-6460. Again keep a record.

Then when someone (you maybe)is injured, have a better chance of getting more when suing the city like everyone else does.

To the Off Topic post about Eugene Roy:
He originaly gauranteed U.S. Cellular Field 300 people for the Christmas party. When ticket sales were very sluggish, because he's such an asshole and doesn't treat the troops right, he asked U.S. Cellular Field to lower the guarantee to 250 and they reluctantly did. I heard he couldn't even get that many to buy he was lucky if there were 200 tickets sold. Hey jagoff look in the mirror and you'll see the reason that morale in 009 is in the toilet. Why would anyone in their right mind buy a ticket to "support" you when you don't support us?
As far as a list being taken of who bought tickets and who actually showed up he's done that shit before. He's used one of his top suck ass girls Amy M. for that in the past. Of course Al(4 year wonder)Garza would be more than happy to tell Eugene who he saw and who he didn't. Al(I'm head of C.A.P.S.) Garza is so far up Eugene's ass you need a tube of KY Jelly to pull him out.
It's just another pathetic tactic by a petty, vindictive asshole.
J-Fraud Christmas is coming you still have time to get this prick out of 009 and make it a Merry Christmas for 99% of the 009th district.(The other 1% would be panic stricken if they sensed that their gravy train was leaving.)

And to top the cake, at the "in-person" furlough picks, it took 4 management officers to make sure they were done correctly. Not to mention one of them on FURLOUGH was getting PAID OVERTIME to be there!? In the past, there have never been more then 3 officers conducting furlough picks. Obviously, the ones Gene had, aren't competant to handle the job!

12/05/2008 10:52:00 PM

None of his managment/admin. personnel are competant to do ANY police related job. They have never been the Police. Other than their Recrute training, oh,forgive me, that DOES make them the real police! JUST ASK THEM, THEY'LL TELL YOU.

I'm sure all 11 of those 35th street heroes who slipped and fell went IOD and now will have Christmas and New Year's eve off. Why didn't I think of that?

Just because you get hurt at work does not always mean IOD-...You need to be in the performance of your job...otherwise COF will deny the claim as IOD-and it will become Medical....and Your responsibilty....

Such a sad story. If Homan Square is so dangerous, submit a par form and return to a beat car. Simple solution. Of course, give up a company car. Specialized units crying about a parking lot full of company cars. OH THE HUMANITY!

12/06/2008 09:11:00 AM

I dont have a company car a-hole. Its an example of another police parking lot that is never plowed.

There was lots of black ice out on the streets last night and this morning. I have to wonder if the cost to the city in lawsuits for injuries and accidents will be equal or greater than what they save on salt, trucks and streets & san salaries. My bet is that this will be a money-losing proposition,
((((((((((((((((((

Why you gots too go to there?

I is sure they is white ice that cause problemations is well, so don't just be blame on the black ice. Obama, why not you readin this racist blog?

Na, he's counting on the fact that he'll never be sued for anything related to his duties, which probably consist of gelling his sack hair, campaigning for Obama, and washing cars of bangers on their orders. This department is ruined, bunch of whiny liberal gangster loving punks.

THEY SHOULD DO AWAY WITH DISTRICT CHRISTMAS PARTY'S: HAVE ONE BIG PARTY AT THE END OF THE YEAR FOR ALL THE RETIREES - IF YOU WANT TO ATTEND - BUY A TICKET -

ALSO, IT'S ALWAYS BEEN AN UNWRITTEN RULE: IF YOU ARE ON MGT., OR ON TACT/GANGS YOU'D BETTER BUY A TICKET FOR THE CHRISTMAS PARTY...DON'T AGREE, BUT THAT 'S THEY WAY IT IS..

I'm so embarrassed !!!

One of the posters says..."gone by Christmas." I'm not getting my hopes up, but wouldn't it be wonderful?

Wonderful...all we would have left to bitch about is KERO. Dickhead.

We know about the unwritten rules. Waht we are pointing out is that the fucking management people in 009 even had to be forced to go to the Christmas party. That's how much we all hate that mother fucker.

I do understand the unspoken code of, if you hate your Commander or the Bosses you work for, don't attend the Christmas Party. In reality, that is the worst thing you can do. The Christmas Party is for the retirees, not for the Commander or Bosses. I went to 3 parties this year. No, not because I love CPD parties (I do love to see all the drunks) but because 3 of my buddies were retiring. They all had a ball and it was great to see the few of us that are still left on this job.

Just the time we spent reminiscing, remembering the guys and gals that went on before us and the bullshit we talked until the parties closed down was enough for me to make sure I do this again and again.

Signed,
An old fart, looking forward to 63 next year and Mayor Daley's mandatory retirement day! What happened to the age limit being set on politicians. SCC, do a post on that!

The 009th district in-person furlo picks were ridiculously overstaffed. Every sworn female that's tucked away upstairs was there to "help". The one who's on furlo but came in for O.T. should've stayed home. She's such an idiot she could fuck up a one car funeral. She fucked up timekeeping in her brief stay there and now is back to being clueless in the commanders office.
Speaking of clueless little 4 year wonder Aura also has no clue what the hell she is doing in the commanders office. The only thing she knows is that she gets to wear jeans whenever she feels like it and she's off every weekend or whatever 2 days that week she chooses. She's also deathly afraid of any type of street duty.
Then there's Sue the 3rd wheel "timekeeper". We already have one sworn timekeeper and one civilian timekeeper what in the hell is she doing in that office as another sworn timekeeper?
I guess it's just another day in the saga of "As Eugene's World Turns".
J-Fed are you there? Help!
