Cop's House Torched

She works in the far south suburb of Lynwood and lives in Dyer, Indiana. Or she did until someone burned her house to the ground:
  • It was no secret that Kelly Johnson was a police officer. She wore her Lynwood Police Department uniform when she left the house and often parked a squad car in her driveway.

Neighbors told her they felt safe when her squad car was there. But now the Lynwood patrol officer and her family don't feel secure anywhere after their home in Dyer, Ind., was destroyed in a fire.

The Dyer man charged in the arson allegedly stood and watched the fire and later told police he set the blaze, in part, because he doesn't like cops.

And that isn't the worst of it:
  • [Offender] Costello told police that he set the fire because he was angry about being rebuffed by a woman at a nearby bar earlier that night, [Lake County Police Chief Marco] Kuyachich said. He said that he didn't like police officers and knew that a female police officer lived in the house.

He also said that he knew the children were inside and watched the fire burn for at least 15 minutes, Kuyachich said.

Officer Johnson and her family lost everything, including five dogs and a cat. People can donate by contacting the Lynwood Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #287 or the First National Bank of Illinois in Lynwood or a First Midwest Bank in Indiana.

Its a shame! My heart goes out to her and her kids. Can't wait to see the outcome of trial. My guess is probation and a slap on the wrist!

The sick bastard needs a bullet between the eyes. There is no hope for someone with that much hate and contempt. Things like this make me wonder what other crimes he's committed. I'd even volunteer to pull the trigger.

I don't have much to send, but I will make a donation. My heart goes out to Officer Johnson and her family, and I'm so sorry for the loss of her possessions, especially her animals. Pets are family and it's just like losing a child.

I'm going to post this on my blog, at Domelights and a few other forums to get the word out and hopefully get as many donatations as possible for the officer and her family. I know it won't make up for the initial incident, but I'd like to help in any way I can.

You all are out there protecting us and putting your lives on the line, and when you go home to your families at the end of your shift, you shouldn't have to even think about things like this at all.

I've always said you all don't get the credit and respect you deserve and it bothers me to no end with how some of the pubic treat and perceive you. Y'all are hereos in my eyes, and I appreciate you more than you know.

Please be safe out there.

No, luckily it didn't happen in crook county where this jag off would win a million dollar lawsuit against the officer because he burned his finger with the match he used. Remember, with the exception of the N/E corner of the state Indidana is still a red state. My guess, 15-20 years.

No probation for him. This happened in Indiana, not Cook County. They take the law seriously out there.

This absolutely disgusts us. This guy should be lit on fire himself. What a piece of fecal matter, wrapped in human skin.

The animals are at our doors boys and girls. Be safe and be smart.

How bout FOP #7 holding a benefit to help this Officer and her family that surely needs anything and everything they can get right now? Any benefit from any Department would help. Count us in!!!

I took security guard training back in the early 80s...illinois armed certification. They taught us that deadly force could be used for one of 7 forceable felonys, if memory serves me. Im sure the laws have changed by now. Arson to a building known to be occupied. Too bad one of those indiana concealed permit holders didnt let loose a cap or two at the asshole. The dogs and cats alone would make me want to dole out a good beating. Yes, 50 rounds later i had my rent a cop license. Isnt that 20 more than CPD fires to qualify annually?

Not totally unusual. A retired cops' son-in-law works in new lenox and lives right across the border in Indiana.

Hell, I thought about working in 005 and living in Ind.

Mayor hairball works in shitcargo and lives in bitchagang
