Florida Making Tough Choices

Actually, the choices aren't that tough. They are actually wise:
  • The Treasure Coast court system has 42 judges, prosecutors, investigators, public defenders and administrators who are paid more than $100,000 per year.

Circuit judges, who preside over major criminal and civil cases, are paid $145,080 per year under a state salary scale that went into effect Oct. 1, 2006. That makes Florida's circuit judges the 11th highest paid trial judges in the nation, according to a 2008 survey by the National Center for State Courts.

But the pay of Florida's circuit judges would slide down to 17th place nationwide if the state government enacts a Senate bill calling for all state employees earning more than $100,000 per year to take a 5 percent pay cut.

We'd certainly like to see a breakdown of the following:
  • The number of state employees making more than $100,000 a year under the last five governors. Has it gone up or down?
  • The number of county employees making more than $100,000 a year under the Strogers, senior and junior. We' know all of Todd's cousins are making over $100,000 per year.
  • The number of city employees making more than $100,000 per year as it relates to Shortshanks terms in office.
We're pretty sure we know what the answers will be. We're pretty sure you do, too.

Think of how nicely you could live off a salary of $145,080 in Chicago.

Now think of that same money and how much farther it goes in Florida.

It kind of shows how fucked we are in Chicago.

Make that a 20% pay cut.

After all, these fucks will still have a job, a damn good job at that.

And hasn't our newly elected president repeatedly said that the sacrifices needed must be shared?

Dick Mell was spotted on his bike along Donax Road Fla, not too long ago. (Island off Ft Myers)

Seems that this exclusive island living is not being bothered by the blago flap at all.

Dick, you badly need a haircut, long hair on old guys makes you look "sleazy".

Umm, you did read the post, right?
These are judges; Former defense lawyers or prosecutors. The only time they EVER busted their ass was MAYBE in law school.

We do the hard work and put the cases in the courtroom. They sit on their ass and decide how much WE f*cked up the arrest.

I could care less if these clowns lost 30% of their income !

We work in an upside-down world. Society would not exist without the Military and the Police who make untold sacrifices for society, yet we make peanuts in salary.

Who gets rich? Athletes and Entertainers !

WTF ?

Stephen Spielberg: $332 Million a year !

Oprah Winfrey: $225 million a year !

Judge Judy: $100 million for 4 years !

Manny Ramirez: $45 million for 2 years !

I was trained in the police academy NOT to hit people in the coconut with my baton...

Had I known back then that it would be so lucrative, I would of practiced whacking coconuts during the Bulls riots and used it as a springboard into the Major Leagues !

What percentage of city, county and state workers 'bust their asses' for their $100k plus salaries?

Note the term 'salaries'.

Not 'hourly wages', but 'salaries', as in 'they' get those $100k 'salaries' no matter how little actual work they produce and/or how few actual hours they spend doing that little actual work.

Hourly wage earners, earning their hourly wages via a unionized labor contract, would not be affected by a call to limit and/or reduce the wages of salaried civic employees.

While there might be a call to limit the number of actual hours worked by an individual employed under the terms of a unionized labor contract, thus limiting the total, yearly gross income of specific individuals, the practicalities of attempting to do so would likely discourage their success.

If you have a better solution, one that does not include increasing taxes and is not the usual, irrational suggestion of lining up the political hogs and summarily executing them, feel free to share.
