Shortages Everywhere

And guess who's going to get stuck with the bill for decades worth of incompetency?
  • CTA officials said Wednesday they believe they can find $80 million to cut from the agency's 2009 budget to cope with drastically lower-than-anticipated tax revenues.

But transit officials warned that service cuts and fare increases -- the second round this year -- may be needed to erase whatever shortfall remains.

  • Some of the stimulus money is on the way to Chicago Public Schools, but it's not even close to being enough to solve the shortfall. Washington is sending $190 million. But as CBS 2's Kristyn Hartman reports, the district will still have a $475 million hole in its budget.

District leaders say between now and June they will lay out a series of steps to close the budget. They have some ideas, but nothing is firm just yet. They did say they would like more money from the state, and they did say there would be trimming.

"The projected $475 million budget deficit that Mr. Huberman has outlined today is very real, and very serious," said Board of Education President Michael Scott.
And real estate transfer taxes are down, along with sales taxes, tickets, fines, licensing, and pretty much everything else.

And so are the middle-class taxpayers. They're beginning to flee the city.

Arne fled for D.C. just in time, eh? He basically wrote himself a blank check here, failed to bank enough to cover that check, then left us to cover it.

And now, I'm watching him on Charlie Rose, telling how he's planning to feed students three meals a day, buy them glasses, implement additional financial incentives for teachers and "meet the students' social and emotional needs".

Fine goals, but are we going to print him a semi trailer full of money in order to effect all of this?

I Don't like the mayo!!!! But who am I some person who wants to voice a gripe with this current adminstration. He has brought shame and disgust to the city. While the outside world laughs we inside the city limits cry!!! We need a change!! The CPD has the most possible votes of all city government positions. Along with the CFD and all of the service unions we must take a stand against Da Mayo. He is going to ruin this city. Most of us have grown up with this city and know there is room for serious impovement. Lets vote out Da Mayo in 2011. Don't be afraid we must save the Chicago we all know and love.

Used to be a standing joke to see 10 Streets and San workers standing around watching one or two do all the work.

I owned a home on the SW side near Gage Pk. and once the gangbangers moved in, it no longer was safe to go out at night.

To add insult, the little jag kept raising property taxes every year.
Fuck him.

Now I live in a one stop-light town an hours drive away.

The CPS is going down the shitter too. Huberjag doesn't have the ability to change shit. The real problem with the CPS is multiculturalism, the lack of parental involvement, linguistic difficulties when the little esay's can't speak english.

There is no answer other than the White's leaving the city to avoid a broken dumbed down education system.

here's a thought...it's the raised taxes (real estate, sales and gas ) that drove people away from the city and drive people to shop and gas up outside the city....so why not lower them to bring the shoppers back. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out...but I guess it takes a real man to admit he messed up (something Daley is not).

Cut services. Teachers get a 5% raise, police haven't had one in 2 years. The largest amount of money I see on my tax bill when it's itemized, goes to the school district. To top that off, you can't send children to a public school in this city. If you look at the numbers, Naperville actually spends less per student than Chicago does. How is it they can make things work better out there. Time to start laying off teachers and closing some public schools in Chicago. 50% don't graduate anyway.

So King Dick has been running the show for almost, (April 24th)
20 years. Other than the area bounded by Fullerton, Ashland, Roosevelt and the lake, nothing has improved in this fly-over town. Kids are not learning, housing has not improved, the roads, schools, and transit systems are in the worse shape I have seen in my 50 year life.

There is one positive coming out of this. Both of my kids are intent on relocating out of Illinois when they graduate college. One already is in an out of state college and the other plans to go out of state. Many of my oldest's high school friends feel the same.

So the brain drain will continue until Dick is stuck with no tax base and no hope for iprovement.

Hopefully the sheeple will wake up and figure it out.

Maybe if CPS teachers kids were required to attend CPS schools things would improve. Isn't the whole theory of having a stake in the community the ideology behind residency? What better way to have a stake in the community, than having your own kids in the school system you work for?

Does video catch cop in DUI lie?
'BLATANT FALSEHOOD' | Video shows no staggering, swaying

The video from top DUI cop Joe D. Parker's squad car shows a man walking a straight line, without stumbling or flailing his arms.

But Parker, a Chicago Police officer who has won acclaim for being among the leading DUI enforcers in the state, told a different story in his police report.

He wrote that Raymond L. Bell lost his balance and used his arms to steady himself. And he arrested the 33-year-old Oak Lawn man on charges of driving under the influence, speeding and negligent driving.

Now, after reviewing the squad-car video, Cook County prosecutors have dropped the July 2008 charges against Bell.

A cost study of victim/offenders from the time they drop out of Crane, Dunbar, CVS, or wherever until they are released from physical rehab. after taking their first bullet would blow people's minds. Think of the amount of $$$ each one sucks up in services:

1.) Several arrests after dropping out of HS.

2.) Cost of crimes committed on other victim/offenders.

2.) Police/Fire resources used at the time they're shot.

3.) ER

4.) ICU

5.) Re-hab center.

6.) Shrinks, Social workers, etc....

7.) Court costs.

Every predator who survives being shot by another predator costs approx. $950,000 from shooting date to release from re-hab.

And.....how many aren't even American citizens? Approx. 34%

The people have to start seeing these numbers.

I just realized I can retire in 6 years, the year before the Olympics.

The pleasure of paying higher taxes for those years will be bestowed upon me by the evil kabal, to the point I will be eating cat tuna, maybe even cats, to be able to hang onto my house.

When it's time to bid the city adieu, I will be able to sell my house, which was worth about $550K 18 months ago for about $150K.

I will be able to move to Tenessee and purchase a shanty with an outhouse, where I can set up a still to support myself.

I can buy some chickens and some hogs that I can raise so I can feed myself.

All of that will be my reward for serving faithfully, and honestly, and diligently for what will amount to 29 years and a day of service.

The good news? I will not have a heart attack before I retire, and I will not be suffering from high blood pressure when I finally leave this city, the one I loved, and served, for good.

That is because I am DONE. The next six years I will spend my eight hours reading the paper, sneaking in a nap, doing the crossword puzzle, stopping for coffee, two personals, a lunch, some shopping maybe.

A few years ago I drove my retiring partner to headquarters to turn in his papers. It was a morning filled with mixed emotions. He wanted to retire, but he was sad about leaving the department he loved.

Not so with me. I will walk into headquarters filled with nothing but glee, kicking up my heels. No melancholy moments for me, and most likely those that follow me. The CPD is as dead as a possum carcass on the interstate.

F-ck this piece of shit mayor, and the government that is going to steal my pension.

Be careful everyone, and enjoy the small things--it's only going to get worse.

Debt, debt everywhere but plenty to push for 2016. Oh my gosh, how much will the olympics cost? And you think your property taxes are high now? I know of one unit in CPD that should be a cash cow: Public Vehicle Enforcement. I have never known a hearing officer to access a fine under $500. But there are never more than 2 enforcement officers working any watch, usually only 1 copper for over 5,000 taxis. And if Obama is in Hyde Park, there will probably be no one chasing the cabs, as public vehicle will be on detail. The Board of Ed. could start charging various fees to public school students. My ex lives in Evanston and it costs about $300 to send a kid to public high school! I have a friend at the Board who tells me that most Chicago students already get a free lunch and half get free breakfast. If these kids are that poor, can't mom buy lunch fixings with her Link card? Jsut what is school for? Anything past the 3 R's should be scrutinized for cost..If the red light cameras work so well, let's just put them up at every intersection and lower my property taxes! Nothing will change until we starting electing a real government instead of a quasi-criminal enterprise. I am confused though, nobody I've met in the last few years ever voted for King Richard-how did he ever get elected? But I am glad I didn't retire and move to Nevada.

TV news reported that one kid used a pair of scissors to hack up another kid at DuSable High School yesterday.

...and here comes Ron Huberman, minus his CTA hard hat and reflective vest. Christ, give him a white coat and a stethoscope and let him run County Hospital next.

Huberman pronounces "We believe it was an isolated incident at that school. It was under supervision."

This new "isolated incident" or "random incident" explanation is enough to make you scream. It's what people say when there's nothing they can say, but they're being paid to say something.

Let me see if I've got this right; as long as there were not simultaneous scissor attacks in every school in Chicago at exactly 2:17 PM, we're OK? No Baby Al Quaida here?

Does "It was under supervision" mean that this assault was planned, part of the learning experience?

Daley and everyone he allows around him all seem to be passing around the same jar of Lexapro -- frantic, barely clinging to reality, rushing around straightening the flower arrangements and aligning the place settings as the house burns...

...which is just up the street from Zitella's not-selling luxury townhomes (where once stood Chicago Weaving), which are just across the street from the Schiele Graphics printing plant.

Schiele has closed down and moved away but the property will now be a condo project non-starter -- no construction financing available these days.

I knew what was going to happen along here ten years ago when I saw

OT:

A Department of Revenue worker today told me they were being instructed to go into CPD police parking lots to look for cars on the boot list and also cars with expired plates, no or expired city sticker and those plastic covers over your license plates.

Those covers can get a parking ticket. I have not seen any in the A3 lot but this guy was from the Dept of Revenue Office on Diversey/Ashland.

There will no doubt be some Dept. of Revenue ticket writers and boot crews cruising the police lots. he tells me that Dept. of Revenue supervisors all over the city are telling their crews to do this.

Another sign of appreciation by our Mayor.

If you haven't figured it out yet, Daley is saving the property tax increase when our contract is settled. He'll stand up there and indirectly blame us for it. It's a given.

It looks like the rumored health care coverage for those 55 and older will happen. The Lt's and Sgt's unions were offered it and the FOP will be offered it as well. We just don't know what we will have to give up for it. Current contract lengths for the Lt's and Sgt's Union is somewhere in the 5 year range. Look for ours to be of similar length.

WGN-TV now showing the two Daley-clone weirdos, Weis and Huberman, having a "summit" about "Chicago Public School students being killed."

They stated that the latest fatality was 17 years old and "only a sophomore" in high school.

When I was 16 I had already graduated high school and was working full-time at a man's job.

I keep getting this mental picture of hulking, tattooed characters sitting with their knees in their faces at tiny little children's desks, trying to figure out which end of a pencil to use.

Words like "substandard" and "inadequate" come to mind, in so many ways...I'm struggling not to say "retarded."

They bought a 2/2 w/1 spot at the peak of the bubble in a "gentrifiying" area w/ no money down.
They missrepresented their income and now, due to the downturn, make less. Now, with falling r.e. values, they owe lots more on their unit than it would fetch on the market, if it would sell at all.
They are getting killed on taxes and finnaly have given up on the cubbies.
There is room at the family house in IA and they are going back....in droves !

Scc,
I have a story for you which should get some attention. Police shooting in Area one a couple of nights ago. Area Four gets called in to handle it and comes up with a couple of witnesses.
Lt Tony Wojcik, Area Four Hgs Lt is walking the witnesses to get them into the round table when a high ranking IPRA Investigatir stops them and says that they want to interview the witnesses first. Lt Wojcik gets Ito a beef with IPRA and tells the Investigator that he is going to get locked up for Obstruction if he doesn t step aside
Witnesses go in to round table. Good shoot as usual

Stand up Boss.

Saw on the Fox Cable News that a few states, like West Virginia and Texas were refusing the Federal bailout money because there were too many conditions attached.

But we all know that the States of ILL-noise and Shitcago will not turn the money down. They will take it and throw it at a whole bunch of poorly planned half-baked projects that will get about 1/2 done and then the money will be gone and everyone will be wondering where it went.

And Daley, if he is still mayor will mumble something about "it wasn't enough to begin with" and ask for more.

But there won't be any more. Not from the Feds or the local tax base. Because they will all be broke.

Chicago may look something like New York in the "Escape From New York" or the "Mad Max/Road Warrior" movies.

I buy cigars from a tobacco state, via UPS, NO TAX.

I guy gas in Indiana, NO Chicago, Cook County or Illinois tax.

I challenge the hell out of every property tax bill.

I write, at most, two parkers a day and NEVER for parking meters, they all get a free pass on my beat.

Only movers I write go with accidents. Nothing else. Daley thinks he can fuck us, well, he can see how it feels to get fucked by thousands.

+++++++++++

This is bullshit. City isn't GIVING/"COVER[ING]" anything. It's going to be an account where you pay into it now and draw from it to cover "approved" medical expenses when you retire or are separated from the dept. Except the account isn't going to be like flex. It's going to be like deferred comp, where it's an investment account. So there is the potential for its value to DECREASE. And it'll be funded by taking a certain # of hours you have on the books and the city paying an hourly base salary amt for those hours. Too much to detail here, but that's the jist of it. FUCK YOU, DALEY.

...so the thing stands empty today with huge "INCENTIVES! BUY ME! ONLY 1 LEFT! MODEL OPEN SUNDAYS!" banners beginning to disintegrate in the wind. Flap, flap, flap...

Unbelievable! Talk about arrogance and overconfidence. Oh, man. That was a smart move by the developer in a market where the BUYERS are massively walking away from their pre-construction deposits because they reflect a sale price that has dropped by half since they made the deposit.

This actually happens more in the high-end condo market where the customers can afford to just eat the deposit loss to stave off a bigger loss. They're not going to get hooked into that nightmare twice-what-it's-worth mortgage.

Zitella is almost certainly going to go bankrupt. I've never seen anyone so overextended --
