Thanks From St. Baldricks

Is it drafty in here or is it just our new heads?
  • St. Baldrick’s 2009 has come and gone for the CPD events, and participation was spectacular. For those not familiar with St. Baldrick’s, it is a fundraiser for childhood cancer research in which participants seek pledges to get their heads shaved or longer hair cut to be made in to hair for wigs for kids that lose their hair to chemotherapy. We grew to 268 shavees for 2009, thanks to all who signed up and of course to all the volunteers and hair stylists who helped make it possible. And thanks also to SCC for helping to get the word out.

The totals for cash and checks brought in at the day of the event will be tallied by the folks at St. Baldrick’s over the next week or two and will be posted on the web site, but the preliminary totals look to bring us in at just about $100,000.00 raised, thanks to all who donated!

It was great to see so many returning shavees as well as some new scalps, and we’re looking forward to next year’s event, look for news to start around November.

    Thanks again, your event coordinators,

    Bill O’Reilly - Academy

    Bill Murphy - Area 2

    Anne Zamzow - Area 5
$100,000 for 268 bald heads. Good job officers!

I'm so proud of all of you and thank you to everyone who donated during tough times. The thin blue line stood strong.

From one of the shavees, you can donate still online at Stbaldricks.org. Yes the head is cold. This was my first year, but the shaved head and donations are worth the cause. It was a great time getting the head shaved. For those who haven't gotten involved yet, please consider joining next year. These kids are worth the effort of joining this cause. Even a goal of 100.00 dollars to St. Baldricks is helping out. Every year the turnout gets larger. It was my first year, but it won't be my last. If you have any doubts on joining next year, go to the website and watch some of the videos. The stories will change your mind about participating. It did for me.
Signed,
Baldilocks

Sorry I didn’t include information in my original message about anyone who still wishes to donate.

You can still donate on line by going to www.stbaldricks.org and click on find a participant to find the newly bald person you wish to donate in honor of.

Great job Officers!

Does anyone know if the TV News had any coverage on any of the three events?

The bag and pipes at the Academy were fantastic! This was my 5th time doing this - it gets more fun every year. Let's top this year's numbers next year!
